Actress Robin Wright, who essayed the role of Claire Underwood in the popular series 'House of Cards', had a hard time demanding equal pay as her co-star, Kevin Spacey, as she didn't have an Oscar.
'House of Cards' premiered on 'Netflix' in 2013 and ran for six seasons till 2018. Created by Beau Willimon, the series was an adaptation of Michael Dobbs's novel 'House of Cards'.
Wright, also known for her work in projects such as 'The Princess Bride' and 'Forrest Gump', said David Fincher, who directed the first two episodes of the show first pitched the project to her. 'When David Fincher introduced 'House of Cards' to me, he said: 'This is going to be the future. It's going to be revolutionary'. And look where we are now,' the actress said according to the entertainment news outlet 'Variety'.

The 59-year-old actress admitted it was 'difficult' to get equal pay unlike Spacey, who was an Academy Award winner. 'Yes, it was difficult. I am going to be honest. When I said, 'I think it's only fair because my character became as popular as (Spacey's)'. They said 'We can't pay you the same as an actor, so we will make you exec producer and you can direct. We will give you three different paychecks'. I asked, 'Why can't you pay me as an actor?' 'Because you didn't win an Academy Award'.'
Wright added being angry 'wasn't going to change anything'. 'That has been the protocol for years - it just is. If you say, 'Why did so-and-so female not get the same amount as Will Smith?' They say, 'It will increase after you win'. Nomination, not so much… Why does it have to do anything with a raise?' she added.
'House of Cards' revolved around Frank Underwood (Spacey), a democrat appointed as the Secretary of State, along with his wife, played by Wright. He then sets out on a quest to seek revenge from those who betrayed him while he was successfully rising to supremacy. The series also featured Kate Mara, Rachel Brosnahan and Kristen Connolly.

But motherhood, she said, helped shift her mindset. 'When you're so consumed with what everyone around you thinks of you… that can be a really hard way to live. In my 40s, and as a mom… you want to set an example for what your children are going to think about themselves,' she admitted. Meghan highlighted how important it is to be real, especially for her children. 'You have to be so authentically the role model…You can't fake that. You want to model that for them," she explained. Netflix is set to bring its most iconic stories to life with the grand opening of Netflix House, a series of permanent entertainment venues that blend immersive experiences, themed dining and interactive attractions. As per a report by Variety, the first two venues will open in late 2025 at King of Prussia Mall in Philadelphia and Galleria Dallas in Dallas. Whereas the third one will be in the BLVD Las Vegas in 2027. Netflix House Philadelphia will feature Wednesday: Eve of the Outcasts, a twisted school carnival filled with eerie games, chilling surprises and mysterious fortune-telling. Fans of the anime world can dive into One Piece: Quest for the Devil Fruit, where they must dodge villains and escape marines in a race against the Straw Hats. Other Philadelphia highlights include Netflix Virtuals (VR gaming zones where visitors can step into the worlds of Netflix hits), Top 9 (a tech-enhanced mini golf course themed around nine fan-favorite stories), and the TUDUM Theater, which offers screenings, trivia nights, dine-in experiences and special events with celebrity appearances. At Netflix House Dallas, guests can take part in Stranger Things: Escape the Dark, a spine-chilling mission to find three missing Hawkins residents. The venue will also host Squid Game: Survive the Trials, a permanent, high-stakes version of the popular experience where participants must outwit the Front Man and each other.
