Actress Robin Wright, who essayed the role of Claire Underwood in the popular series 'House of Cards', had a hard time demanding equal pay as her co-star, Kevin Spacey, as she didn't have an Oscar.
'House of Cards' premiered on 'Netflix' in 2013 and ran for six seasons till 2018. Created by Beau Willimon, the series was an adaptation of Michael Dobbs's novel 'House of Cards'.
Wright, also known for her work in projects such as 'The Princess Bride' and 'Forrest Gump', said David Fincher, who directed the first two episodes of the show first pitched the project to her. 'When David Fincher introduced 'House of Cards' to me, he said: 'This is going to be the future. It's going to be revolutionary'. And look where we are now,' the actress said according to the entertainment news outlet 'Variety'.

The 59-year-old actress admitted it was 'difficult' to get equal pay unlike Spacey, who was an Academy Award winner. 'Yes, it was difficult. I am going to be honest. When I said, 'I think it's only fair because my character became as popular as (Spacey's)'. They said 'We can't pay you the same as an actor, so we will make you exec producer and you can direct. We will give you three different paychecks'. I asked, 'Why can't you pay me as an actor?' 'Because you didn't win an Academy Award'.'
Wright added being angry 'wasn't going to change anything'. 'That has been the protocol for years - it just is. If you say, 'Why did so-and-so female not get the same amount as Will Smith?' They say, 'It will increase after you win'. Nomination, not so much… Why does it have to do anything with a raise?' she added.
'House of Cards' revolved around Frank Underwood (Spacey), a democrat appointed as the Secretary of State, along with his wife, played by Wright. He then sets out on a quest to seek revenge from those who betrayed him while he was successfully rising to supremacy. The series also featured Kate Mara, Rachel Brosnahan and Kristen Connolly.

Meghan Markle says she struggled to find acting roles due to her mixed race: ‘They thought I was Latina'
Meghan Markle is opening up about her acting days. During an appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess of Sussex reflected on some of the hardest phases in her life. Recounting the invisible barriers she faced during auditions, she revealed that she was often told she didn't quite 'fit' anywhere. Despite all this, the Suits alum admitted that these hurdles helped her become the person she is today. Reflecting on the countless rejections she endured, Meghan said: 'When I was an auditioning actress and this is well before Suits, you have to think at that time there were certainly not a lot of mixed race parts.' 'If I was going in for an audition… it was 'girl next door' that was typically blonde haired, blue-eyed… But because I'm half white, I would also be submitted for those roles,' Meghan added. The rejections weren't always about talent, she hinted. Rather, it was the industry's outdated lens. 'And I also to a lot of people in casting, they thought I was Latina. So I share that because, and I've shared this before, it was a numbers game.' The Duchess, now 43, also spoke about grappling with self-doubt that was hard to shake off while constantly being judged. But motherhood, she said, helped shift her mindset. 'When you're so consumed with what everyone around you thinks of you… that can be a really hard way to live. In my 40s, and as a mom… you want to set an example for what your children are going to think about themselves,' she admitted. Meghan highlighted how important it is to be real, especially for her children. 'You have to be so authentically the role model…You can't fake that. You want to model that for them," she explained. Amanda Seyfried criticises Hollywood's obsession with sequels, calls it 'frustrating': It's just for money
Amanda Seyfried has voiced her frustration with Hollywood's reliance on sequels, sharing that they are often driven by profit rather than creative vision. (Also Read: Amanda Seyfried recalls getting role offer in 'Guardians of the Galaxy') As quoted by Variety, in a recent interview, Amanda expressed her desire for original content, and said, "I think it's really scary and brave to do it. It's not scary and not very brave to do sequels. It's just for money, and it's frustrating." Amanda's comments come amid a summer blockbuster season filled with sequels, including James Gunn's Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth. Rachel Brosnahan, who stars as Lois Lane in the new Superman film, jokingly asked, "What's our Barbenheimer between Fantastic Four, Jurassic Park, and Superman?" Amanda responded with humour, "It's Fantastic Super-park. It's Four Superparks. Four Dinosaurs. Four Super Dinosaurs. I don't know!" as quoted by Variety. Despite her criticism of sequels, Amanda has starred in several herself, including Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and Ted 2. However, she clarified that she would eagerly participate in Mamma Mia 3 if given the chance. Seyfried is also working on a potential Jennifer's Body sequel with Megan Fox, but emphasised that she won't do it without her co-star. Rachel shared her thoughts on sequels and said that she would return for a Superman sequel. "Yeah, I'd come back. We had a great time. There are also so many people in this cast whom I didn't get to work with," she said. She also commented on the trend of actors complaining about superhero movies after joining them, and said, 'Do it or don't do it, and then stand by it.' Meanwhile, Superman is set to open on July 11.
