When does the 2025/26 Premier League season start?
The 2025/26 Premier League season will begin on the weekend of August 16/17, 2025.
The start date allows for the maximum player rest time available - 83 clear days - from the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
33 weekend and five midweek match rounds will make up the 2025/26 season.
The Premier League states that the schedule "continues to allow more rest time for players over the festive match-round period".
No two rounds of fixtures will take place within 60 hours of each other and there will be no game on Christmas Eve.
The fixtures for the Premier League 2025/26 season will be released at 9am BST on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Max O'Leary ready for Ireland debut after years of patience
Ireland's goalkeeping cohort doesn't fit the stereotype of being brash and loud. Between Caoimhín Kelleher, Gavin Bazunu, Mark Travers and Max O'Leary, none would be renowned for raising their voice. Their predecessors Shay Given and Darren Randolph could be heard far and wide, on and off the pitch, especially within the team hotel base. O'Leary has been around the squad for six years but there's mitigation to his silence. Primarily, he arrived on the international scene just as a generation of rivals were emerging from the underage ranks. First came Travers, then Kelleher and Bazunu in quick succession – five years between them in age – and they've each amassed Premier League experience. O'Leary was two games away from joining them in the top-flight when Bristol City made the Championship playoffs but differed in being the first-choice of his employers. What he doesn't have to his name is a cap. The 28-year-old from Bath declared in 2019 through his late grandfather Sean O'Leary, who emigrated from Farranfore, Co Kerry to England. Bazunu and Travers are not part of the squad for the summer friendlies and though Kelleher will start Friday's first against Senegal, there will be scope by the end of Tuesday's in Luxembourg to rotate between the posts. 'It's something I've wanted to do - I've been around a while now and seen a few managers – so hopefully I'll get my opportunity soon,' he said in his first appearance before the media. 'I've always prepared the same, whether playing or not. Dave Brailsford set for reduced role at Manchester United after Jim Ratcliffe's planned reshuffle
Brailsford has played a major part since Ratcliffe secured his stake in United in February 2024, stepping down as team principal of the Ineos Grenadiers cycling team to take charge of footballing operations at Old Trafford and investing considerable time and energy in driving change at the club. But after a season in which United finished 15th, their worst Premier League finish, and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham, Ratcliffe is planning a shake-up which will see Brailsford return to his role as director of sport for the wider Ineos group, as first reported by The Times. Under the plans, former Tour de France winner and Olympic champion Geraint Thomas is set to take on a leadership role with the Grenadiers when he retires as a rider at the end of the year. Brailsford, 61, has overseen a major overhaul of United's operations, including a £50million redevelopment of the Carrington training ground. Ratcliffe has scaled back some of Ineos's sporting commitments, terminating its sponsorship of the New Zealand rugby team and ending his bid to win the America's Cup. However, Ratcliffe remains committed to the cycling team, who no longer hold the dominant position they did when winning the Tour de France in seven out of eight editions between 2012 and 2019. Thomas, 39, has said he will retire after the Tour of Britain in September.
