Urvashi Rautela Claims Theft Of Jewellery Worth Rs 70 Lakh From London Airport: 'The Bag...'
Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela has claimed that her luxury suitcase, packed with jewellery worth ₹70 lakhs, was recently stolen from London's Gatwick Airport. The actress claimed that she was in the city to attend Wimbledon when her bag went missing from the luggage belt. Though the actress tried to find her bag, it was nowhere to be found.
'As a Platinum Emirates Member and a global artist attending Wimbledon, I am deeply disheartened to report that our Christian Dior brown baggage was stolen from the baggage belt at London Gatwick Airport, following our Emirates flight from Mumbai. Despite holding our baggage tag and ticket, the bag went missing directly from the belt area—an alarming breach of airport security. This matter is not only about a lost bag—it's about accountability, safety, and dignity for all travelers," the actress said in a statement, as shared by her team.
Urvashi claimed that she even reached out to Emirates support and Gatwick Airport officials, but no one helped her.
Besides her strong background in beauty pageants, Urvashi has been part of several Bollywood films, including Singh Saab the Great, Sanam Re, Great Grand Masti and Hate Story 4. She has also gained immense popularity through her appearances in music videos, such as Love Dose and Bijli Ki Taar.
Additionally, her involvement in philanthropic activities includes running the Urvashi Rautela Foundation to help underprivileged people and supporting organisations such as PETA India is truly commendable. Her stunning appearances at the Cannes Film Festival and other events often become the talk of the town.
Earlier this month, Urvashi Rautela's mother also accused actress' former manager, Vedika Prakash Shetty, of theft. Meera Rautela claimed that Shetty was associated with Urvashi as well from 2015 to 2017 and 'engaged in multiple acts of theft and deceit" during this time.
'Vedika Prakash Shetty was employed as a 24/7 executive assistant to my daughter during 2015-2017. She was hired to assist Urvashi during her reign after returning from Miss Universe in Las Vegas and subsequently during the handover of Miss Universe India crown in 2016. At this time, she was entrusted with various responsibilities, starting from Urvashi's wardrobe, heavy gowns and personal belongings. However, soon we realised that she had engaged in multiple acts of theft and deceit which caused a great deal of financial loss to the family," Urvashi's mother claimed.

Ruskin Bond recently took a stroll down memory lane and unveiled captivating food stories from his childhood. In a heartwarming video posted on Instagram, the eminent author revealed his fondness for strawberry milkshake. He shared how such a milky delight inspires him to work even while it's raining every day in the hills. He confessed, "I have a weakness for milkshakes, amongst other things," and went on sharing a delightful piece of memory from his childhood. "And even when I was, as a young man in London, when I was about 18, I went all the way to the Wimbledon tennis tournament, partly to see the tennis, and partly because I'd heard you could get wonderful strawberries and cream there. So I've forgotten who was playing tennis that day, but I certainly haven't forgotten the strawberries and cream. I was a greedy young fellow." Take a look at his video here: View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ruskin Bond (@ruskinbondofficial) Ruskin Bond added, "Well, not everybody can afford strawberry milkshakes every day. And when I was a boy, a boy of 12, 13, I couldn't either. We weren't very well off, and I only used to get about pocket money, five rupees a week." The children's book author then revealed the things he could do in 1947 with just five rupees: see at least three films, buy two paperbacks, also called crime club novels, or even three magazines, and enjoy chats and tikkis with his friend if his appetite was roused. The author also revealed the other beverages he enjoys and reminisced about a song related to buttermilk. "Yesterday it was chanch, that was, what do you call it? Buttermilk. And there was a great song I remember when I was a boy, Buttermilk Skies. And I sing it sometimes, but I won't spoil your day by singing," the 91-year-old shares. He continues, "And chanch, strawberry milkshakes, coconut water. Coconut water is great too, very refreshing. And so all these things are there, and they're pretty good substitutes for other drinks. So, cheers. Enjoy your milkshake." "A strawberry milkshake and a good story - life's little joys never grow old," read his caption.

Actor Urvashi questions her National Award win: Yet to decide if I should accept
Veteran Malayalam actor Urvashi, known for her outspokenness, questioned her Best Supporting Actress honour at the 71st National Awards. While she played the lead role in director Christo Tomy's 'Ullozhukku', she was awarded in a different category. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Urvashi stated that she is yet to decide whether to accept the National Award, expressing her disappointment at 'Aadujeevitham' being snubbed and raising her voice for the future will decide whether to receive the award only after I get clarity from jury members on why lead roles were considered in the supporting actor category. She said the jury should clarify what the difference was in performance and that sharing the award in that category was also not possible," she from the interview: Q: Christo Tomy said that you haven't completely healed from the gruesome shooting. When you win awards for a film like that, how does that make you feel?A: Definitely, very happy. We are happy whichever film wins it. Winning it for this film, however, adds on to the joy because, for around 40-45 days, we had to stand in the water and shoot. It was a character that was going through a lot mentally, so we will naturally get into the character at that moment. There are still many issues with my legs because of that shoot. So it's extremely joyful that such a film won this award. Also, it's the result of Christo Tomy's efforts as a filmmaker that it won Best Malayalam Film as well. So, it's double the joy! Q: You won Best Actress award for 'Ullozhukku' at the Kerala State Awards. But, you were awarded in the supporting category at the National Awards. It came as a surprise to many in Kerala...A: It was surprising to everyone who watched the movie, including media personalities. Everyone who called me to praise and congratulate me discussed this issue with me. That's how I felt like raising this question as well. Because at the state level, I got the Best Actress same goes for Vijayaraghavan, who won Best Supporting Actor [at the National Award for 'Pookkalam' despite playing the lead role]. He won the biggest honour in Malayalam - the JC Daniel award - for that film. He has a long career in films. He is the son of a legendary artist, and he did multiple films with strong characters. In this film, he played the lead role, just like I did in looking at the way awards have been presented in these many years, the Best Actor and Actress awards are given to those who play lead roles. Those who have supporting characters are given supporting characters awards. This is the first time a lead character in a film has been given a supporting character point is what if I did a good supporting role in another film, and it won the award, how are they going to give it to me? That's my question. This question is not to any government. I don't intend to include any government in this. I don't play politics. There is a jury appointed by the government. People from North might not know about everyone from every industry. Right? Old directors might know people from most time periods. But the question is whether the jury that went from the South spoke for South Indian films from Malayalam, Tamil etc.? I believe that has not happened.Q: Last year, Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the Best Actor award. This time, it wasn't shared and the Best Supporting Actress was shared. Do you see any particular reason behind it? A: I don't think there was any reason behind it. Rani Mukherji is a really good actor. Shah Rukh Khan is a good actor. He should have won the award even before. But jury members should clarify what the difference was in performance that sharing was not possible.Q: 'Aadujeevitham' swept 9 honours at the Kerala state film awards and was appreciated highly across. Director Blessy said that the jury chairperson liked the movie and praised it initially, but later thrashed 'Aadujeevitham' is a film that narrated the tale of the disastrous life of a man. It's not just a cinema story. It's a real life story which is difficult to even just sit and listen to. The efforts taken by the actor for that role, the physical challenges he faced - Prithviraj is a commercial star. It's one of the most important roles he got in his career. The film didn't get noticed, AR Rahman's music did not get noticed, there is a new actor in the film and no other department's efforts were noticed at the awards. It surprised me also that there was not a single mention of the film. I am definitely upset about it.Q: Social media is praising you for expressing your opinions. You said that if you stay silent it will be an injustice to your juniors. What made you talk about it? A: Not just this issue, I have remained silent many times, thinking that I shouldn't hurt anyone or create an issue. This generation of actors like Rima Kallingal and others used to ask me, "if Urvashi doesn't speak, how will we get an opportunity to speak." People will say that an actor like Urvashi is remaining silent so what is the issue with these new-gen actors?. "This is the situation we are moving into", is what they told is already inequality existing. So they told me that if I don't raise my voice at least on some issues, there will come a situation where they won't be able to raise their voice at all. I felt it was right. What I am asking are my doubts. The jury members who went from here are the ones who should reply to it. I am not asking any government but the jury who went from the South. Did they have correct knowledge about these films and these actors? Did they speak for it? So for the next generation, I feel I need to raise my voice.Q: Have you decided to receive the award? Or are you waiting for clarity from the jury members?A: I am waiting for some clarity. I am not someone who will raise issue and questions to get attention. Never in my life have I wondered and got upset thinking about why I didn't get an award. I have never acted to win an award. I will not do it again either. But there should be an answer to is a protocol in everything which will give answers to our questions. In this country, it's normal in every sector, but my question is why it is not there is cinema. If I get low marks after writing an exam, I have the right to question that in this country. I am a student of cinema. So when my films or films of others are considered, and you find flaws in it, I have the right to ask about the basis for it. That's what I believe, and I need an answer for it.- EndsTrending Reel

'Why Was Shah Rukh Khan Named Best Actor?': Actress Urvashi Slams National Film Awards
Urvashi, who herself shared the Best Supporting Actress award with Gujarati actor Janki Bodiwala, expressed dissatisfaction over not being considered in the lead actress category The 71st National Film Awards, meant to celebrate cinematic excellence, is now at the centre of a controversy, with several artists, including award-winners, openly questioning the jury's choices. Among the most vocal has been legendary Tamil and Malayam actress Urvashi, who has raised pointed questions about the selection process that led to Shah Rukh Khan being awarded Best Actor for ' Jawan ', while veterans like Vijayaraghavan were relegated to the Supporting Actor category. In a sharp interview with Asianet News, Urvashi asked, 'What were the criteria for selecting Shah Rukh Khan for Best Actor? And how was Vijayaraghavan placed in the supporting actor category?" She criticised the lack of transparency, stating plainly, 'Kuttettan (Vijayaraghavan) is an experienced artist. At least he deserved a special jury mention." Her remarks echoed a growing sentiment within parts of the film industry that the awards process has turned opaque, favouring stardom over substance. The backlash intensified after several performers, widely seen as leads in their films, were instead recognised in supporting categories, allegedly to make room for big-ticket names like Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji. Urvashi, who herself shared the Best Supporting Actress award with Gujarati actor Janki Bodiwala, expressed dissatisfaction over not being considered in the lead actress category for her role in ' Ullozhukku ', where she starred opposite Parvathy Thiruvothu. Her performance had earlier earned her the Kerala State Award for Best Actress. She pointedly asked, 'Why do we have awards? On what basis are they given? That needs to be made clear, regardless of the category." She added that if artists are simply expected to accept awards quietly, that needs to change. Quoting fellow actor Rima Kallingal, Urvashi said, 'If this is what you (despite being a proven veteran actor) have to go through, just imagine how worse it would be for all of us." The controversy also envelops Vijayaraghavan's role in ' Pookkaalam ', where he played a 100-year-old man, a physically demanding lead performance that required intense prosthetic work and hours of daily makeup. Urvashi revealed she was initially approached to play his partner in the film but declined due to the physical toll the role would require. 'Even if you pay me crores, I wouldn't do it. But he, at his age, endured all of that and performed. That alone deserves at least a Special Mention." She added, 'How did you distinguish between Vijayaraghavan's and Shah Rukh Khan's performances? How did one become a supporting actor and the other the best actor?" Her criticism was not confined to individual snubs. She also condemned the complete omission of Blessy's ' Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life)', starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, from the awards list. 'They said it was a majority decision. But what exactly does that mean? What is the basis?" she asked. Urvashi also questioned why the Best Actress award was not shared this year, despite such precedents in previous editions. 'Is there any protocol? Is there any set standard? Awards should not be taken home quietly. This is not pension money. If you are giving me something, I should feel happy to receive it," she said. Calling for accountability, she stated that she has already urged Minister of State Suresh Gopi to look into the alleged bias against Malayalam cinema. Urvashi's remarks have found resonance among many in the Malayalam film fraternity, especially in light of what some perceive as a trend of sidelining regional cinema in favour of Bollywood glamour. While expressing gratitude for her award, Urvashi said she received calls from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and actor Kamal Haasan congratulating her.
