'I grew up in a Catholic household - now I'm trans and men can't get enough'
Lana Madison has built a six-figure empire by sharing saucy snaps online but most of her fans don't know about her transition. The 29-year-old, who grew up in a Catholic household in a small Texas town, is now proudly trans but 'doesn't feel the need to disclose this upfront' to her male fans as they are still 'getting what they came for'.
And it's not her problem 'if they feel tricked'. 'I don't really feel like I owe every guy my gender history,' said Lana, who has 76,000 followers on Instagram @lanabananaonly.
'A lot of the men who message me don't know that I'm trans – they just want to talk to me because they think I'm pretty. I don't think my gender identity has to be advertised on my forehead.
'If someone wants to know that I am trans, they can pay for my more explicit content and they'll find out that way. I have a nice body but I also have a secret weapon that I think men desire on the down low.
'For instance, after finding out I was trans, one fan asked to see my penis. He was terrified at first but then he, like so many others, came back and asked for more.
'I also receive angry messages from men who say they feel 'tricked'. That's their problem – I'm not hiding anything or lying, I'm just existing without announcing that I'm trans in big red letters.
'Most of my fans are curious more than anything. They find me attractive and the rest doesn't seem to matter once they're invested. A lot of the fans asking for more explicit content also have girlfriends or wives.'
Lana, who never discussed topics like gender or sexuality at home with her parents, first started receiving hormone therapy when she moved to New York at 21. Since then, she's gone under the knife several times including for a facial feminisation surgery, a breast augmentation and a hair transplant.
The procedures not only helped Lana feel more comfortable in her own skin, they also transformed her career. And while some of her fans might appear annoyed when they find out she's trans, she believes the majority of them simply struggle to accept that they find her so attractive.
The adult star recently made a whopping $120,000 (€102,000) on OnlyFans in just one month – and she says the attention just keeps on growing. Lana said: 'I felt so beautiful when I came out and even more so after my surgeries. People treat me differently now and not just online.
'Men stare on the street and hold doors open for me. I love that they probably do this without knowing I am trans, because it proves that trans women are just as beautiful as women who were born with female genitalia.
'Some cisgender men get so defensive about finding a trans woman hot. I am 100% sure that this is why they kick off or get upset after the 'discovery' that I have a penis. I know I turn them on because they keep throwing their money at me.'
As for her offline romantic life, Lana, who is gay, 'doesn't date much'. She added: 'There's a lot of fantasy and desire, but genuine connection is harder to find.
'Most of my relationships have been situationships. I never hide that I am trans to people I date – but the partners I choose don't care either way. They just see confidence and sexuality, and that's what they connect to.'
