Nebraska offensive line recruit has closed his recruitment
A Nebraska offensive line recruit has announced that he has closed his recruitment. Interior offensive lineman Hayden Ainsworth will announce his commitment on June 20. He recently received a prediction for the Cornhuskers from Bryan Munson of On3.
Ainsworth is a three-star recruit. He is currently the 25th overall player in his class from the state of Mississippi, according to the On3 Rankings.
Ole Miss is in his Top Ten. Alabama, North Carolina State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, UNLV, Florida State, Baylor, and Liberty are also under consideration.
Nebraska is looking to make additions to the class of 2026. They currently hold only four commits to a group that currently ranks 57th in the nation and 18th in the Big Ten Conference, according to On3.
Ainsworth had been scheduled to visit Liberty on June 13 and North Carolina on June 17 before ending his recruitment. He will officially make his announcement on Monday at 10:30 a.m. CT.

Seven players to watch in Panthers' finale: 2 WRs, new QB, kicking battle

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bryce Young will be on the Carolina Panthers' sideline Thursday night, along with most if not all of the team's other starters. Young and the first-team offense logged just four preseason series — three three-and-outs and one touchdown drive against the Cleveland Browns. That was enough for Dave Canales, who pulled Young after two series Saturday at Houston — one fewer than what the Panthers' second-year coach had planned. Advertisement So Young will sit Thursday in the exhibition finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, then head to Jacksonville in two weeks hoping for a stronger start to the season than last year. Meanwhile, a lot of second- and third-teamers will use Thursday as a last audition for a roster spot — either in Carolina or elsewhere. Here are seven we'll be watching: Coker is safely on the roster and will be part of the Week 1 receiving rotation. But Canales wants the second-year wideout to get some conditioning work after he missed the practice and preseason game at Houston with an illness/infection. That's fine with Coker, who's played more special teams this summer to make himself more valuable. Coker still has some of the best hands on the team, which hopefully he'll get a chance to show off in what could be a relatively short appearance Thursday. 'It's just another opportunity to get better,' he said. 'Work on my craft, put everything together that I've been working on this camp and just go out on a strong note.' Tremayne was one of the last cuts on my initial 53-man roster projection. But the former Stanford receiver is making a strong case for Dan Morgan to keep him. Tremayne has good size (6-4, 212), gets open and catches everything thrown his way. In a packed receivers room, if Tremayne makes the team, it likely leaves David Moore as the odd man out. 'The evaluation now is consistency,' Canales said of Tremayne. 'Can he continue to do it? Can you do it one more time? Can we count on him for weeks on end? That's really the challenge for him. He's doing a great job.' Perkins has just two practices under his belt since signing with the Panthers, so it will be a limited playbook for the former Virginia QB and reigning UFL MVP. Perkins spent some time with the Los Angeles Rams, who run a similar offense as Canales does. And the coach said there is some carryover. But if Perkins is going to impress the Panthers and have a shot at edging Jack Plummer for QB3, it might be on off-platform plays. Advertisement 'He's a good player. He's brand new to the team, so he's still figuring everything out,' Coker said. 'But he's got a strong arm, a smart player. Very nice, polite guy. As soon as he came in the huddle, he said what's up to all of us. So he's a good dude.' One of the only competitions for a starting spot in camp will come down to the third preseason game. That is, unless Morgan brings in a free agent or uses a waiver claim on a kicker. There will be plenty available: The Buffalo Bills on Wednesday released rookie Caden Davis, who led the SEC in 2024 with 24 made field goals (on 29 attempts) in his final season at Ole Miss. Fitzgerald made a 52-yard field goal at Houston, while Wright missed from 55. Canales hopes to get each another FG try Thursday. Like Tremayne, Incoom is another guy who just keeps popping up with good plays throughout the preseason. At 6-2 265, Incoom is a little smaller than what the Panthers generally prefer size-wise with their edge rushers. But the former Denver Broncos player has a quick first step, as evidenced by his sack of C.J. Stroud in last week's joint practice with the Texans. 'He's like a lightning bolt, he just goes,' outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum said. 'He don't really think too much. He just plays fast. He makes a lot of splash plays for us in the backfield just off his speed.' With Nic Scourton still recovering from a collapsed lung, Incoom should get plenty of work against the Steelers. But Incoom's special teams background — he was a four-phase guy for the Panthers last year — should mean his roster spot is secure. Evans appeared to leapfrog Shemar Bartholomew on the second-team depth chart this week after Bartholomew struggled in coverage in the exhibition loss to the Texans. Evans, a fourth-round pick in 2022, started 15 games in his second season with the Minnesota Vikings. He's long and rangy (6-2, 198) — in the Seattle Seahawks/Panthers mold — and has extensive special teams experience. Undrafted corner Corey Thornton has been something of a revelation this preseason. But Evans will try to show the Panthers' decision-makers they also can depend on him. (Top photo of Matthew Wright: Jared C. Tilton / Getty Images) Spot the pattern. Watch Oklahoma QB John Mateer give Sooners teammates Beats By Dre

When the Oklahoma Sooners added quarterback John Mateer via the transfer portal, the hope was that he'd help resurrect an offense that was one of the worst in the nation in 2025. Not only has he done that, but he's also been a big part of building team 131 from a leadership standpoint. Players and coaches have spoken of Mateer's leadership and how he's not only built relationships with everyone on the offensive side of the ball, but he's also built a strong rapport with the guys on defense as well. He's sat in on meetings with each position group and has gone above and beyond to build confidence and camaraderie. Mateer recently entered into a name, image, and likeness agreement with the worldwide brand Beats by Dre. Oklahoma football released a video of Mateer walking into Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium sporting the Oklahoma Sooners-themed Beats. But that wasn't all. Mateer also gifted his teammates with a pair of Beats. The reaction will leave you smiling, as teammates could be heard in the video shouting, "We love you, John!!!" The gesture had the players smiling and cheering after practice let out. Watch the video of Mateer giving his teammates the Beats headphones below as released by Oklahoma Football's social media team.
