Motoring Influencer, Brother Jailed And Fined For Lodging False Police Report
MUAR, July 25 (Bernama) -- Motoring influencer Tengku Nizaruddin Tengku Zainudin and his younger brother, Tengku Abdul Aziz, were each sentenced to one month's imprisonment and fined RM1,500 by the Magistrates' Court today for lodging a false police report. Magistrate Suzana Mokhtar imposed the sentence after both accused, Tengku Nizaruddin, 38, also known as "Ija", and Tengku Abdul Aziz, 30, pleaded guilty to their respective charges. The court ordered the jail term to commence today and ruled that both men would serve an additional three months' imprisonment if they failed to pay the fine. According to the charge, Tengku Nizaruddin was accused of abetting his brother by instructing him to provide false information to a police officer, claiming that the accused had gone missing and was uncontactable since 4 pm on July 14. He was charged under Section 109 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail term of six months, or a fine not exceeding RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. Tengku Abdul Aziz was separately charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code with providing false information to a police officer regarding the alleged disappearance of his brother at 11.38 pm on July 14, at the Lenga police station enquiry office. Deputy public prosecutors Nur Ameerah Allaudeen and Yasmin Mohd Piah urged the court to impose both imprisonment and a fine on the accused, citing the seriousness of the offence, which had wasted the manpower and resources of the Royal Malaysia Police and the Muar Fire and Rescue Department, and undermined their efforts. 'This is a common offence that is frequently committed. Given the public attention this case has received, we hope it will serve as a deterrent to others,' they said. In mitigation, lawyer Nor Hafizah Abdullah from the National Legal Aid Foundation, representing both accused, pleaded for a fine, stating that her clients had expressed remorse, apologised to the police and fire department, and had cooperated fully with the authorities.

Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the disposal involved 124 completed criminal and commercial crime investigation papers. 'A total of 47,906 criminal case items with an estimated value of RM630,565 were disposed of, while commercial crime cases accounted for 1,325 items valued at RM90,674,' he told a press conference at the Brickfields District Police Headquarters here today. Among the items disposed of were RM9,833 in cash and large quantities of seized goods, including those linked to gambling, unlicensed entertainment outlets, prostitution and illicit massage centres. Ku Mashariman said one of the more notable cases involved a foreign national who carried out a currency exchange scam last year. The suspect had attempted to deceive a victim by using USD400,000 in counterfeit currency. 'We arrested the suspect and seized USD400,000 in fake banknotes. He was charged in court, sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment, and will be deported to his home country,' he said. Cosmetics marketing assistant charged with sexually abusing stepdaughters
ALOR GAJAH: A cosmetics marketing assistant was charged in the Sessions Court here today with committing physical and non-physical sexual abuse against his two stepdaughters, aged five and six, since May. The accused, a 27-year-old divorcee, pleaded not guilty to all charges and claimed trial before judge Aiza Khairuddin. For the first and second charges, he was accused of physically abusing the two girls in a bedroom and bathroom of a house here at night between May 11 and July 5. He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, which provides for a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping upon conviction. The accused also faces another charge under Section 15(a)(i) of the same Act for non-physical abuse by exposing his genitals to the two victims in the kitchen of the same house on the same dates. If found guilty, this section carries a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both. Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Ali Hussain appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by Mohd Anif Rafih. The prosecution proposed bail at RM20,000 for all charges with one surety, along with conditions that the accused must report to the nearest police station once a month during the first week and refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses, including the victims. However, Mohd Anif requested that bail be set at RM12,000, citing his client's low income of RM2,000 a month as an online marketing assistant for cosmetic products. "The accused is also financially supporting both victims and his biological child, aged two, who is currently under the care of his mother in Pendang, Kedah. "My client has no objection to the additional bail conditions and promises not to disturb the victims," he said. The court then set bail at RM15,000 with one surety and imposed the additional conditions sought by the prosecution. Mention has been fixed for Aug 25.
