Daily Mail23-04-2025

Celebrity chef Jose Andres has weighed in on Meghan Markle's As Ever business venture - before comparing her to Melania Trump.
Despite the Duchess of Sussex being met with scathing reviews following the launch of her new lifestyle project, Andrés remains steadfast in his support.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, conducted at the City Harvest Gala in New York City, the Michelin-starred humanitarian opened up about his admiration for the mom-of-two.
'Listen, I think the work she does is great. She is great,' Andrés said passionately.
'She could be a person that goes into her own world and forgets about the real world but - what I can only say as her friend - she's a friend, but also she's there in the fire.
'She doesn't need to be out [in the public eye] but she is there.'
Discussing Markle's As Ever brand in more depth - most notably, the jam spread that has become a hotly-contested topic - Andrés fiercely defended his pal.
'It's good. It's good. It's very good,' the famed restauranteur said, having been sent a jar directly by Markle herself.
He then addressed the fierce criticism surrounding the brand, explaining: 'I don't know why it is.
'I think we should be in the moment of celebrating anytime anybody wants to do anything.
'Can be her, can be Gwyneth Paltrow, can be me, can be Eva Longoria, can be Melania Trump.
'Let's celebrate what anybody wants to do. Just forget about criticizing others.
'Everybody should be cheering up everybody that just tries to do something.'
Andrés, who founded The World Central Kitchen, explained that he and Markle - along with Prince Harry have collaborated on multiple philanthropic projects over the years.
This includes the rebuilding of a kitchen in Dominica that serves children during the school year and operates as an emergency relief hub during hurricane season.
'Quite frankly, very proud of them and very proud to call them friends,' he said.
Despite the Duchess of Sussex being met with scathing reviews following the launch of her new lifestyle project, Andrés remains steadfast in his support
And while the chef didn't reveal any upcoming collaborations with Markle, he hinted at the possibility of appearing on one of her shows someday.
'I think she has plenty of support, but I will not be surprised if one day you see me in one of her shows,' Andrés said.
Andrés himself has no shortage of things to promote - his new cookbook Change the Recipe hit shelves recently and is already climbing the bestseller charts.
He also teased a new documentary on Netflix and a cooking show with Martha Stewart on NBC, both debuting April 28.

Meghan Markle 'plans to add hotels and restaurants to her As Ever brand'

Meghan Markle reportedly plans to add hotels and restaurants to her As Ever lifestyle brand. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, is trademarking her brand As Ever for 'hospitality services', The Sun first reported. This will reportedly include places to stay, as well as temporary lodgings and 'provision of food and drink', the newspaper revealed last night. Meghan could dish up a selection of her own edible creations, incorporating recipes she featured on her recent Netflix eight-part cooking show With Love, Meghan. Brand experts have claimed hotels and restaurants fit in nicely with the Duchess' business brand. It comes after Meghan said in the first episode of her series: 'When I have someone stay, one of my favourite things to do is prep the guest room.' A second series of the show has already been filmed and is set to be released this Autumn, despite a series of less than ideal reviews following the programme's release in March. The show saw Meghan reveal her tips and tricks for hosting guests, as well as different recipes and party planning hacks. Her lifestyle brand's website states: 'As Ever is more than a brand - it's a love language. 'Created by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, As Ever welcomes you to a collection of products, each inspired by her long-lasting love of cooking, entertaining and hostessing.' Meghan's representatives declined to comment when approached by MailOnline. The news comes after Meghan took a break from her busy work schedule as she embarked on a trip to Disneyland with husband Prince Harry and their two children. The Duchess shared a series of special moments from their visit in a new post on Instagram. It appears the special time away was at least in part to celebrate their daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday. According to Meghan's post, it appears the family had a good time - sharing details of their trip, including some of the snacks they enjoyed. Notably, one picture show a large pile of corndogs and pickles on a table. The cost of a two-day trip for a four person family to Disneyland can depend on a range of factors, but it can cost around $5,000. It is not known what the family paid for their holiday, but the pictures certainly made it appear as though they made the most of their time away. As well as having a blast on numerous rides, both Lilibet and their son Archie, six, had the chance to meet Disney princess Elsa from Frozen. Meghan held her children's hands as they slowly walked over to take pictures with the character in a sweet moment. Meghan and Harry's kids also had fun on some rides at the amusement park such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Cars ride. The couple - who tied the knot in 2018 - were spotted having a blast of their own as they sat at the front while on Space Mountain together.

Why Meghan MUST drop the ‘Duchess' title, – I know the REAL reason she's blurring kids faces

SHE'S on a roll. There's no doubt about it. After a brief flirtation with being a member of the Royal Family, Meghan Markle/Sussex/Mountbatten- Windsor/Spencer is flying solo. 2 2 The reports that Meghan is now seeking to trademark future ventures in the hospitality sector for her As Ever brand suggest she is now fully invested in life as an influencer and entrepreneur. And there's nothing wrong with that. But it has absolutely nothing to do with being royal. Marrying Prince Harry fired her into global fame and now she wants to capitalise on it. Somebody has to fund their Californian lifestyle, and Harry claims he has been financially cut off by his family. After almost obsessive secrecy about their children and their home life, Meghan is now bombarding her growing band of social media fans with updates of what she, Harry and the kids have been up to. To add some mystery, the children's faces are obscured. It's a telling contrast to the pictures we see of William and Catherine's young brood as they grow up. Everything Meghan posts — from twerking videos on the labour ward to a family trip to Disney — multiplies the clicks and the potential revenue. She's turning out to be a shrewd operator — which perhaps she always was. Meghan Markle Expands As Ever: From Lifestyle Brand to Hospitality Empire Again, I have no problem with that. But to try to cling to the vestiges of her blink-of-an-eye time as a working royal is disingenuous. So, Meghan, how about dropping the Duchess nonsense and the HRH which you are no longer entitled to use? Be independent and successful. Make your As Ever brand bigger than ever on your own. You are an independent woman with a husband who adores you. Just because he's a prince doesn't mean you have to hang on to the idea of being a princess. You tried being part of the Royal Family and hated it. Time to move on, which, I think, is what this is all about.
