Corporal Mohd Hafizul Izham buried with police honours in Bandar Permaisuri
The 35-year-old policeman died after being struck by a suspect's vehicle during a housebreaking operation in Alor Setar.
His body was brought to his parents' home in Kampung Pak Kancil before funeral prayers at Petra Jaya Mosque.
The burial took place at the mosque's cemetery, attended by Terengganu Police Chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairuddin and over 300 mourners.
The ceremony included the handover of the Sang Saka Biru flag to the deceased's father, Mazlan Umar, a retired police officer.
The incident occurred yesterday when police responded to a tip-off about suspicious activity at Golf Park.
Mohd Hafizul sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene, while one suspect was arrested immediately.
Three other suspects fled but were later apprehended in Kepala Batas, Alor Setar.
He leaves behind his wife, Nur Azhanis Mohd Yusoff, and three young sons.
His eldest son, Muhammad Akif Naufal, recalled their last moments together when his father picked him up from school.
The boy was later taken to the hospital, where he learned of his father's tragic death.
Mohd Hafizul's mother, Maznah Ismail, expressed deep regret for not cooking his favourite nasi minyak before his passing.
She last saw him briefly on Saturday night while he was on duty.
The family mourns the loss of a dedicated officer and loving father.

Couple hired by loan shark nabbed over fatal blaze
JOHOR BARU: A couple, believed to have been hired by a Singapore-based loan shark, was arrested for suspicion of starting a house fire. The fire killed a 72-year-old woman in Kampung Bukit Siput, Segamat, on July 25. State police chief Comm Ab Rahaman Arsad said police received an emergency call regarding a fire involving five houses at about 4.30am. 'Investigations by the police and the Fire Department found elements of arson. 'We then formed a special task force and nabbed a couple, a 21-year-old and his 19-year-old girlfriend in Subang Jaya, Selangor, a week after the incident. 'During the interrogation it was revealed that a loan shark syndicate in Singapore hired them to carry out criminal intimidation by setting fire to the house of a borrower who had failed to repay a loan,' he told a press conference yesterday, Bernama reported. Comm Ab Rahaman said investigations found that the couple were suspected of actively committing mischief in Johor and Selangor since July, receiving RM1,000 for each job. 'At the time of the incident, the woman was alone. 'She had never received any threat. It is believed that the loan was taken out by a family member.' Comm Ab Rahaman said four investigation papers had been referred to the state legal advisor's office with instructions for prosecution. The male suspect will be charged at the Segamat Magistrate's Court today with nine charges under Section 304(b) of the Penal Code for causing death without intent, Section 436 for arson and Section 507 for criminal intimidation. 'His girlfriend has been released on police bail and will serve as a prosecution witness,' he said.

Two girls deny assaulting, unlawfully confining schoolmate
SUNGAI PETANI: Two 13-year-old girls pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court here to two charges of assault and wrongfully confining a schoolmate. The Form One students entered their plea after the joint charges were read before magistrate Mohamad Azlan Basri. On the first charge, both accused are alleged to have voluntarily caused hurt to the 13-year-old victim in a school toilet at 6.40 pm on July 14. They were charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of one year, fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. On the second charge, both accused are alleged to have wrongfully confined the victim at the same location, time and date, Bernama reported. This charge was brought under Section 342 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of one year, fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Nur Hazwani Md Nor requested the court impose a bail of RM4,000 on each accused. Counsel N. Nagaratnam sought a reduction, citing that both accused were still students. The court set bail at RM2,000 each with one surety, on condition that neither accused shall contact the victim. Mention was fixed for Sept 23. It was reported that a Form One student at a secondary school here was believed to have been bullied by her schoolmates. She was reportedly discovered in the school toilet, her hands and feet bound by a necktie and mouth gagged with a handkerchief.
