Red Sox's Alex Cora Provides Non-Answer on Roman Anthony Situation originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Boston Red Sox are taking their time in calling up top prospect Roman Anthony from the Minor Leagues. With the offense struggling and the Red Sox falling 4 games under .500, the Red Sox fandom has been calling for Anthony to get called up for some time.

However, the Red Sox are continuing to slow-play it. In a segment on WEEI Afternoons, Red Sox manager Alex Cora provided an update on Anthony's timeline to make the MLB roster.
"Roman is doing well. He's getting better." Cora said. "As of now, this is the roster that we have and we are going to continue to maximize that. We are very proud of the work he's putting down there. And like I said last week, he's not knocking at the doors, he's kicking it. So, we'll see what happens in the future."
Cora's lackluster answer on Anthony, repeating what he said previously, doesn't instill confidence in Anthony getting the call-up anytime soon. It's a similar message Cora sent a week ago, and there is no indication things will change in soon.

Anthony is tearing it up at the Triple-A level. He is batting .303 on the year through 195 at-bats. Anthony has 8 home runs, 23 RBI, and an impressive .922 OPS.

The 21-year-old out of Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, Florida, is close to making his MLB debut. However, the Red Sox's slow-playing his promotion to the big leagues has frustrated Red Sox fans and media members alike.
With speculation that the Red Sox would have to move one of Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu to make room for Anthony, the wait might be even longer than anticipated.
As the season is in dangerous territory of slipping away, the Red Sox's patience in calling up Anthony is frustrating. Cora's remark, which leaves Anthony's call-up status in question, is a further frustrating development for the Red Sox.

Mike Braun sends message to Pacers

Mike Braun sends message to Pacers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After the Indiana Pacers clinched their second NBA Finals berth in franchise history, head coach Rick Carlisle told the hometown fans and national TV audience what they already knew: "In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana." Advertisement Between the movie Hoosiers, Damon Bailey packing high school gyms, Larry Bird's run at Indiana State, and Bobby Knight putting Indiana University on the map, Indiana is the national hub of all things hoops, and with the Pacers and Fever's recent success, it has only added fuel to the fire. Governor Mike Braun, who played high school basketball at Jasper High School before attending Harvard in Boston, is a diehard Pacers fan with a soft spot for Larry Bird. He recently declared the Pacers a "team of destiny." "Basketball to Hoosiers, it's 49 other states, and then there's Indiana," the governor told Fox. "It means a lot, because the Pacers have been always competitive, but never been quite in that position to win it. And this isn't one with authority other than they now have become a team of destiny, it seems almost." Advertisement Braun was 19 years old when the Pacers won their last title, defeating the Kentucky Colonels in the 1974 ABA championship, taking down Hall of Famers Dan Issel and Artis Gilmore in seven games. Braun knows that Indiana, unlike California, New York, Florida, and Texas, is not exactly a destination state. While he and Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma are working to change that, the Finals are doing a lot to draw attention to some overlooked states. "I've always loved it when I was in sports and even as a politician, and there's something about it," he continued. "When it works out, it's even sweeter. So that spotlight's going on Indiana, the same spotlight on Oklahoma, two states that are not in the national limelight. Of course, we are now, and I'm savoring every minute of it." The Pacers will host the Thunder in Game 3 on Wednesday, the first Finals game played in the Hoosier State since 2000. Athletics rookie Denzel Clarke nearly scales outfield wall while robbing home run in matchup vs. Angels

Denzel Clarke didn't just rob a home run on Monday. He nearly scaled the outfield wall at Angel Stadium to do so. Clarke, in the first inning of the Athletics' 7-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels, started tracking what should've been an easy solo home run from Nolan Schanuel deep in center field. But as Clarke reached the wall, he climbed up it and nearly launched himself all the way over it while somehow robbing Schanuel's homer. Advertisement Schanuel, and just about everyone else on the field, was left completely stunned. The play came just days after Clarke made another ridiculous grab in the outfield. On Friday in Sacramento, Clark launched his body into the outfield wall while making a catch at Sutter Health Park. That one, though, looked much more painful. Thankfully, Clarke was fine after he collected himself. Monday's game was just the 16th of Clarke's career with the Athletics, who called him up from their Triple-A affiliate earlier this season. The 25-year-old entered the contest with a .224 batting average with one home run and three RBI. The As chose him in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Cal State Northridge. Advertisement Despite his early heroics, the Angels cruised to the win. They put up three runs in the third inning with a trio of RBI singles, and then Jo Adell hit a solo homer in the fourth to add to their lead. The Athletics finally got on the board in the eighth when JJ Bleday hit a two-run shot, but it came too late. The Angels added three more runs in the eighth and held on after a two-run homer from Max Muncy in the ninth to seal the three-run win. The loss dropped the A's to 26-42 on the season. While he's just a handful of games into his MLB career, Clarke already has two bids for Catch of the Year under his belt. That's one incredible way to kick things off.
