Odisha Govt teacher arrested for sexual assault
The incident came to light when one of the survivors, a Class VII student of the school, refused to go to school. When her parents asked her the reason, the 13-year-old claimed that the accused, Amar Prasad Mallick (40) , had sexually harassed her on Thursday.
Her mother visited the school on Saturday and reported the incident to headmaster Manas Ranjan Mishra, who then conducted an inquiry and spoke with other female students.
He was shocked when four more students, studying in Class VIII, alleged that Amar had sexually harassed them as well and touched them inappropriately, after which he lodged an FIR against the teacher the same night.
Talachua Marine IIC Bimal Mallick said, 'Basing on the complaint, we launched an investigation and arrested the teacher under multiple sections of the BNS and under section 12 of the POCSO Act. He was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.'

A minor girl was raped while going to a grocery shop in a village in Tripura's Khowai district on Monday evening, the police said on Tuesday, adding that they were on the lookout for two people who allegedly sexually assaulted her. As per the police complaint filed by the girl's mother, the two people came on a vehicle and took her to a nearby place and raped her. Locals of the area came to the girl's rescue after hearing her cry and later informed her parents. 'We registered a case on rape and Pocso Act charges based on the complaint filed by the rape survivor's mother. We are trying to trace them as both are still absconding,' said an officer of the local police station. The police said that as per the complaint, one of the two accused people is a resident of the same village as the girl. In other incidents, the police recently arrested a man for allegedly raping a minor girl in West Tripura district. More than a week ago, two men were arrested and four minors apprehended for their alleged involvement in the gangrape of a minor girl in South Tripura district. In May this year, a man was arrested on charges of abducting and raping a minor girl, three days after the incident. As many as 144 rapes and 31 murders of women were reported in Tripura in 2023-2024, according to a home department report placed in the Assembly earlier this year. The police arrested 39 people in connection with 30 of these murders, the report added.

Man rapes one-year-old daughter in Jaipur, case registered
Jaipur: Police are looking for a man who allegedly raped his one-and-half-year-old daughter in his home when his wife was away. Police investigating at the crime scene. "On July 28, a 20-year-old woman filed a complaint against her husband at Muhana Police Station of Jaipur, accusing him of raping his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter," Additional DCP Poonam Chand Vishnoi said. The woman said her husband ran away when the girl started crying. She said she found the girl soaked in blood and rushed her to a hospital with the help of neighbours, Vishnoi said. The husband, booked under the POCSO Act, is on the run.

20 years imprisonment for sexual assault
The Special Court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Cases has awarded 20 years imprisonment to a youth for sexually assaulting a minor girl. According to prosecution, M. Shanmugaiah, 36, of Therkku Konarkottai sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in a place under the jurisdiction of All Women Police, Kovilpatti in 2019. The All Women Police subsequently arrested Shanmugaiah under the POCSO Act. Special Court for POCSO cases judge Preetha awarded 20 year imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on Tuesday. The Judge also ordered the government to give a compensation of ₹5 lakh to the victim.
