Kate Hudson Opens Up About Wanting Her Blended Family to Be 'One Unit' While Raising Her Kids: 'My Priority'
Kate Hudson is opening up about how she navigates her co-parenting relationships.
While at the inaugural Newport Beach TV Fest, the Glass Onion actress, 46, spoke about how she intentionally maneuvered her co-parenting relationships to raise her kids as "one unit." Hudson, who is a mother to three, said that she would make "a conscious decision to do things that didn't take me away from my kids for too long."
"I have three kids and I have three different dads, and all of them tour, and I made a very conscious decision to do things that didn't take me away from my kids for too long, on top of trying to diversify," she explained. "I like to play the long game and just do different things, so for me it was like I wasn't getting the roles that I wanted to be playing. The ones that I did, I would make some hard decisions and if it took me away for too long, I just couldn't do it because I had to be with my kids and I wanted to make sure that I was the center of my kids' universe and that we had one unit."
"That included me going to my exes' tours and being very consciously uncoupled with everybody, and so that was my priority," she continued.

The actress welcomed her first child, Ryder, with her ex-husband Chris Robinson in 2004, followed by her second son, Bingham, whom she shares with her former fiancé Matt Bellamy, in 2011. Hudson's family grew once again in 2018, when she gave birth to her first daughter, Rani, with her fiancé Danny Fujikawa.
Hudson previously joked about the fact that each of her kids has a different father during an appearance on Sunday Today with Willie Geist. "I've got multiple dads, I've got kids all over the place," she said with a laugh.
She spoke further about her relationship with her kids' three fathers in a November 2022 interview with The Sunday Times.
"It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we're killing it," she said of co-parenting with the three men. "The unit that I've created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it's ours."

As for expanding her family even more, Hudson isn't ruling anything out. During a 2020 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actress said she was open to having more children.
"I don't know if I'm done," she said. "I'm in that place of like, right now, Rani is at that age where you're like, 'I want another baby.' But once she gets like 4 or 5, you're like, 'I feel like my life is kinda back a little bit [and] they're kinda in a groove.' It's weird … it's like a window."
Hudson spoke again about the possibility of having more kids during an interview for Byrdie's "After-Dark" digital issue, which was published on Dec. 12, 2022. "I've been having children my entire adult life," she explained. "I've got my 4-year-old and I've got a kid in college. And I don't even know if I'm done yet. You know, I don't have that answer yet."

The Carnivorous Plant Show and Sale at Sherman Library & Gardens will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 14. The event, which includes a judged show of plants, is presented by the Southern California Carnivorous Plant Enthusiasts. The Sherman is located at 2647 East Coast Highway, Corona del Mar. The Costa Mesa City Council on Tuesday named Asst. City Manager Cecilia Gallardo-Daly as interim city manager while officials seek to replace Lori Ann Farrell Harrison, who was terminated during a May 6 closed session council meeting. Gallardo-Daly's appointment comes nearly one and a half years after she was hired on as assistant in December 2023, having come from the same position at the city of San Clemente. Her promotion comes with a pay increase, from $277,932 annually to $330,216, according to figures provided by the city. While the council also discussed the city manager search during Tuesday's closed session, no news was reported from the meeting. Also Tuesday, the Costa Mesa City Council approved a one-year lease agreement with the UCLA Bruins football team for use of the city's Jack Hammett Sports Complex as a 2025 pre-season training camp location. The city in 2017 entered into a 10-year use agreement with the Los Angeles Chargers to conduct their annual summer training campus at the complex through 2026 at an annual cost of $150,570, along with other community benefits, but decided not to host the program in Costa Mesa this year, freeing up the fields for other players. Under the new agreement, UCLA would use the center from July 30 through Aug. 18 for a $160,000 facility fee, in addition to paying for temporary improvements associated with preparing the site. The team would also offer two youth camps for local youth ages 6 to 14, along with two youth practice sessions, 500 UCLA home game tickets and $25,000 to repair field conditions afterward.
