Mercedes-AMG unveils GT 63 APXGP with menacing race design
Grit, Glory, And The Race In Between.
Taking inspiration from the fictional APXGP Formula 1 team's colour palette, Mercedes-AMG turned its GT 63 Coupe into a gold-and-black spectacle. The body boasts hand-applied Race Gold trim on the front fenders, side sills, rear apron, and diffuser. The scheme extends to the 21-inch forged wheels with Night Race Gold finish, along with carbon-ceramic brakes and gloss black callipers.

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition continues to make a statement with black Nappa leather and microfibre sports seats, accented with gold contrasting stitching. Michael Schiebe, Mercedes-AMG GmbH Management Board Chairman and Head of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach division, said at the launch: 'We are delighted to be able to showcase our high-performance vehicles, including the dynamic AMG GT, in this high-performance atmosphere. With the exclusive APXGP Edition, we created a limited number of GTs that combine the excitement of AMG with the cinematic work of F1.'The APXGP Edition may have the same engine under the bonnet, but exclusivity and bespoke design mean the price is worth at least two times as the entry-level model that starts at €178,000 (approximately ₹3.3 crore or $201,816). While the price for this limited series has not been officially announced, its manufacture and film tie-in are guaranteed to drive its value sharply higher.

The maximum number of electric four-wheelers allowed to be imported at the reduced duty rate is capped at 8,000 units per year. The carryover of unutilised annual import limits would be permitted. The maximum benefits from this duty reduction are topped at Rs6,484 crore or the actual investment amount, whichever is lower. Manufacturers are also required to meet certain criteria including the need to achieve an annual turnover of at least Rs2,500 crore by the second year, Rs5,000 crore by the fourth year, and Rs7,500 crore by the fifth year. Additionally, they must reach local value-addition targets of 25% by the third year and 50% by the fifth year. They are also required to be of a certain size. The Global Group's Revenue (from automotive manufacturing) has to be at least Rs10,000 crore and if the applicant is an investment company, the revenue should not be less than Rs3,000 crore. The application widow under the scheme is likely to open soon, and will remain open for 120 days. However, the government can reopen the window as and when required till March 15, 2026. Union heavy industries minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that global players including Mercedes, Volkswagen-Skoda, Hyundai, and Kia have shown interest in applying under the EV policy.

The total advertising spend for F1 in 2025 is on course to exceed $2.5 billion, according to Ampere Analysis. But major U.S. sponsors such as American Express and IBM still are flowing in with the circuit catapulting in popularity off the success of Netflix series "Drive to Survive" while thriving under the control of Liberty Media. F1 tops the NBA, MLB and NHL and its racing teams each accounted for more than $6 million, according to the report, which breaks down the airbox and sidepod ad placement cost at more than $5 million for the most popular drivers on the circuit. Tops among individual sponsor agreements with F1 is the 10-year, $1 billion pact with luxury conglomerate LVMH, which holds a portfolio anchored by TAG Heuer, Louis Vuitton and Hennessy.
