Tottenham: Manor Solomon hopes of dream Leeds return dealt blow

Yahoo2 days ago
Manor Solomon's hopes of returning to Leeds United face a new obstacle as Leeds believe they have an opportunity to sign the AC Milan forward Noah Okafor.
Standard Sport understands that Solomon wishes to return to Leeds this summer.
Tottenham would be willing to sell Solomon this summer if a suitable offer arrives. The Israel international is not part of new manager Thomas Frank's plans.
The 26-year-old winger last played for Spurs in September 2023, before suffering a serious knee injury and then spending last season on loan with Leeds in the Championship.
Sololon impressed at Elland Road, scoring ten goals in 41 matches - including the stoppage-time winner against Plymouth that secured the title.
A decision was taken during the pre-season tour that Solomon would again be allowed to leave Spurs, either on loan or through a permanent exit.
But while a return to Leeds has been touted and is Solomon's preference, it is understood the Yorkshire club hold genuine interest in Okafor, and that a move for the highly-rated Switzerland international could hamper Solomon's chances of re-joining Leeds.
Okafor spent the second half of last season on loan at Napoli but played only four times for the Serie A champions.
Spurs are looking to further strengthen their attack despite plans to move Solomon on. They are interested in Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze as well as Manchester City youngster Savinho.
In June, Leeds had a bid of £32million including add-ons for Rodrigo Muniz rejected by Fulham.

Albion confirm exciting new partnership with leading football academy in Bradford

A FOOTBALL academy from the city has signed an exciting new partnership with local club Albion Sports. Located in Bradford, 3FC will now offer a pathway into the Lions' U23s side for some of their standout talents. The two men behind the partnership are George Conway and Sam Mir, who are the lead coaches at 3FC Academy. The pair have agreed, following discussions with Albion Sports, to also take over as head coaches of the Lions' U23s side in order to create a pathway between 3FC and semi-professional football. Speaking to the T&A, Conway, who previously signed a professional contract with Huddersfield Town as a player, said: 'At 3FC Academy, we welcome aspiring young footballers from ages 5-18 to come and train and experience an academy level environment, and coaching with us. 'For the younger lads, we have a pathway for them to join Bradford City's Academy, and with our older lads, from age fourteen plus, instead of being unrealistic and throwing them into a professional environment, we wanted to find a way of creating a pathway into semi-professional football. 'Myself and Sam (Mir) have a lot of experience in the semi-professional environment, whether it be coaching or playing, so we thought it would be beneficial to create a local link for our lads. 'That's why we pursued this with Albion.' Conway added: 'Previously, we didn't have an official link with a semi-professional club for our older boys; instead, we used our contacts within the non-league circle to find our players moves. 'For some of them, going straight into a first team environment was a challenge and perhaps came too soon for them. 'So, the perfect scenario for us was to run a semi-professional club's U23s side, as it would give our lads a better route into men's football. 'After talks with Riz (Mohammed Rizwan), Albion's joint-manager, and the club chairman, they were fully behind this partnership and were happy to let us step in as coaches for the U23s side.' Sam Mir, George Conway's partner at 3FC, coaching at the academy (Image: Supplied) Reflecting on his discussions with Albion, Conway admitted: 'I know Riz was well aware of 3FC's strong reputation as an academy. 'Given both mine and Sam's links to the game as well, it was clear that we both had the right intentions and plans for this partnership to work. 'So, it's a set to be an exciting partnership and I know the club are fully on board with it. 'We'll be moving the U23s at Albion forward and giving the players the best chance to make that step up into semi-professional football.' He added: 'The ball is well and truly rolling now; we've had a trial evening last Wednesday and we aim to use the whole of August to continue trialling players for Albion's U23s. So far, we've had 22 players at the trials. 'Me and Sam will continue to coach at 3FC, but the programmes run so smoothly that coaching at Albion will fit really well into our weekly schedules.' Conway and Mir still have two trialling dates available this month for Albion's U23s, so if you're interested in attending one of the sessions, fill out the form HERE. Bradford coach takes home prestigious grassroots award from Wembley Stadium

BRADFORD'S Anwar Ali, a coach at Beap Tigers, won a prestigious football award at England Football's Grassroots Football Awards last Sunday. Taking place before The FA's Community Shield fixture between Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium, the event is there to celebrate volunteers from across the country that dedicate their time, energy and effort to make sure grassroots football continues to thrive. This year marked a record-breaking milestone, with over 12,000 nominations submitted across 12 award categories. Ali won the Coach of the Year (Male Pathway) Award for his outstanding work in transforming grassroots football in one of Bradford's most deprived areas, growing a team from just two children to over 100 players. As a coach, mentor, manager, and volunteer groundsman, he gives his time selflessly every weekend, setting up pitches, organising games, and buying kit and equipment out of his own pocket for families in need. Hosted by BBC Match of the Day presenter, Mark Chapman, Ali was presented with his award by former Liverpool player, Emile Heskey. Before The FA Community Shield kicked off, Ali was also given a once-in-a-lifetime money-can't buy reward, where he had an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Wembley Stadium, exploring the changing rooms, tunnel, dugouts, mixed zone, and press conference room. The volunteers were also honoured on the pitch at half-time and recognised in front of thousands of fans. There are over one million people supporting grassroots football alone each year, with volunteers taking on a variety of different roles - from making teas and putting up goal posts all the way through to dedicated coaches and welfare officers. The awards are an opportunity to give back to the volunteers for their outstanding contributions to grassroots football in their community. Ali, Coach at Beap Tigers, commented: 'For many of the children, this is an opportunity to play football, and socially interact with peers in the local community. "We have grown the team from two children to now over 100, and the impact it's having on them goes beyond sport - it teaches life lessons, builds pride and self-belief, and gives them a sense of purpose and opportunity.' James Kendall, Director of Football Development at The FA, said: 'The England Football Grassroots Football Awards are a truly special occasion where we can celebrate the individuals who make such a positive and lasting impact on grassroots football in England. 'Volunteers are the heartbeat of the grassroots game up and down the country, ensuring the operation, participation and success of football at this level. "The 12 winners are a credit to our society, and their devotion to supporting people and building communities through football deserves to be recognised.' As well as Ali, Brighouse's Richard Hill also won a prestigious award at the celebratory event last Sunday. He collected the Grounds Team of the Year Award for his unwavering dedication and contribution to ensuring Brighouse Juniors' football pitches and facilities remain in impeccable condition, taking the time to inspect and mark the pitches, and maintain the clubhouse. Every weekend, Hall provides a pristine stage for 450 children to play football and enjoy the sport they love. He commented: 'For many of the children, football is the only place where they can be themselves, so I want to ensure our pitches are in impeccable condition for them to experience the joy of football. "Every Saturday and Sunday, I want to create an environment where the coaches and players can focus entirely on the game in an environment that inspires them."
