MahaMetro Plans Feeder Bus Service From KP To Govt Offices
The proposed feeder route, being developed in coordination with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), is expected to serve important govt institutions including the police headquarters, CAG office, high court, chief minister's office, divisional commissioner's office, district court, Samaj Kalyan office, NMC's Civil Lines office, Van Bhavan, Govt Press, Vidhan Bhavan, and both central and state GST offices.
MahaMetro officials stated that the initiative aims to promote sustainable mobility, reduce dependence on personal vehicles, and increase Metro ridership by bridging the critical last-mile gap. The route is currently under review, and feedback collected during Metro Samwad outreach sessions will help shape the final service plan.
One such recent Metro Samwad was held at the state GST office, Civil Lines, where additional commissioner of state tax (Nagpur Zone) Tejrao Pacharne and joint commissioners Sanjay Kandhare and Rajendra Masram encouraged staff to consider using the Metro regularly.

Plan to develop subways linking Metro stations
Mumbai: With the full launch of the Metro Line 3 expected in Aug, city planners are now looking beyond just moving people underground—they are working on a future where commuters can seamlessly walk from Metro stations to offices, malls, parks, and even the coastline through a citywide network of pedestrian subways. On Monday evening, top officials from the BMC, MMRCL, MMRDA and the Indian Railways met at the civic headquarters to explore how areas around Metro stations can be developed to ensure smoother last-mile connectivity. The discussions focused on integrating pedestrian infrastructure with the city's expanding underground transit system. Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is Mumbai's first fully underground Metro corridor. Currently, the stretch between Aarey and BKC is operational, with nearly 60,000 passengers using it daily. The entire corridor spans 33.5km, covering 27 stations from Aarey in the north to Cuffe Parade in south Mumbai, and passes through major commercial and transport hubs including Mumbai Central, Mahalaxmi, Churchgate, CSMT and BKC. BMC and MMRCL officials have been working on the alignment since June. "This is just the beginning. Monday's meeting was largely about identifying nodal agencies to take forward such infrastructure," said a civic official. A senior official said a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared over the next four months. The vision is to connect high-density commercial zones—like malls, corporate parks, and office hubs—with Metro stations through pedestrian subways within a 500m to 1km radius. These subways will include escalators and elevators, making them accessible for all. If implemented citywide, this could reduce surface congestion, promote walking, and reimagine Mumbai as a more connected and commuter-friendly city.

CAG-related irregularities: Aldona MLA for FIR against GIDC officials
Porvorim: Pointing to the irregularities observed by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on several issues pertaining to the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Monday demanded an FIR be filed against the corporation's director and officials. The CAG observed that the waiver of transfer fees would adversely affect the GIDC's financial result. 'We don't know who the beneficiaries were and who was making decisions at that time,' he said. 'Were they (board of directors) trying to finish the corporation? I think an FIR should be filed against the board of directors and the money should be recovered.' Ferreira said the CAG observed irregularities in the Rs 3-crore expenditure by the GIDC in organising Invest Goa 2024. The GIDC awarded the event to an ineligible bidder, resulting in the loss of GST input credit of Rs 45 lakh, the CAG said. It further noted that although the RFP had 76 line items describing requirements under venue, catering, branding, transportation, etc, the value was not estimated. The board was requested to approve a lump sum of Rs 3 crore for the event without any indicative costs for each line item. The Aldona MLA said the CAG stated that on Nov 11, 2023, the GIDC received an unsolicited offer from Myles High Hotels and Towers Pvt Ltd for leasing office space in its building at Patto, Panaji, for Rs 5.7 lakh plus taxes and maintenance fees, which was agreed to. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Simple Powder Could Be the Key to a Fresher Scalp Read More Undo The CAG observed irregularities by the GIDC in leasing the premises, resulting in a loss of Rs 1.2 crore. Lower GST on bicycles from 12% to 5%: Makers to govt
Ludhiana: Manufacturers of the city have revived their plea for the reduction of GST on bicycles from 12% to 5%. Their fresh demand comes in the wake of anticipated reforms in the national GST structure. Industry leaders argue that a GST reduction on complete bicycles would spur demand, reduce tax evasion, and strengthen the manufacturing base. Harsimranjit Singh Lucky, president of the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), emphasised the need for urgent relief to the sector. "We demand that GST on finished bicycles should be reduced from 12% to 5%, and that the govt should also address the delay in receipt of SGST and CGST refunds. Genuine businesses need timely input credit. A GST cut to 5% will help reduce burden on consumers and promote local manufacturing," he said. The revision, manufacturers said, would encourage green mobility, reduce costs for consumers, and simultaneously support govt revenue with lower taxation. Drawing attention to the issues being faced by the manufacturing sector, Harsimranjit Singh Lucky said, "We had a meeting with cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora in this regard. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pune: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo He assured us that he would hold a separate meeting on the issues we are facing and ensure that they are resolved at the earliest." He also said the industry had high hopes after Arora became the industry minister, and also because of the fact that he is from Ludhiana. He explained that the industry has a differentiated tax structure, where bicycle parts remain taxed at 12% but finished bicycles attract only 5% GST. Currently, while parts are taxed at 18%, complete bicycles are placed in the 12% GST slab. Manufacturers argue this imbalance creates compliance issues and restricts competitiveness. They reiterated that lower GST on bicycles would help reduce tax evasion and result in benefits to the govt as well. It would help fight against the unorganized and grey-market trade by making legitimate products more price-competitive, they said.
