Odisha Police have arrested three individuals, including a minor, in connection with the repeated rape of an 11-year-old girl in the Mayurbhanj district. The arrests were made on Wednesday after the girl's mother filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Khunta police station on August 3.
According to the FIR, the minor was subjected to repeated sexual assaults at various locations between June 14 and July 27. An officer stated on Thursday that one of the arrested suspects is the survivor's brother-in-law. The police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Following their arrest, the accused individuals were processed by the authorities. The minor accused was transferred to the Child Protection Home in Rourkela, while the two adults were presented before a court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
He further elaborated that the accused are alleged to have transported the survivor to various locations, where they proceeded to rape her on different occasions. The accused have been formally charged with multiple sections under the BNS and POCSO Act.
