Benny Blanco Reveals Unusual Showering Habit That Made Selena Gomez Say 'Whoa'

isn't afraid to get candid about his showering rituals, even when they raise eyebrows.
The Grammy-nominated producer recently opened up about his unconventional bathing habits in a behind-the-scenes TikTok for Interview magazine's March issue, where Benny Blanco and fiancée answered fun couple questions.
When asked which of them takes the longest showers, Gomez didn't hesitate before pointing at Blanco. He fully embraced the label and even explained why his time under hot water stretches out so long.
"OK, I might not get to shower every day, but when I do, when I feel like I deserve it, I'm in there for so long contemplating life,' Blanco admitted in the TikTok. 'I sit down in every shower I go into.'
But it's not just about relaxation because Blanco also finds solace in using his showers as a form of emotional release.
'Have you ever cried in the shower? It's incredible,' he told Interview before turning to Gomez with a curious question of his own.
'Do you cry in the shower?' he asked, prompting Gomez to burst into laughter.
Blanco went on to describe another recurring experience during his extended showers, something that he calls 'death realizations.'
'I always get death realizations when I'm in the shower,' he revealed in the TikTok clip. Gomez, appearing taken aback, simply responded with a stunned 'Whoa.'
'No, like, I realize I'm gonna die, but it's in the shower,' he elaborated. In response, Gomez playfully raised the question cards to cover her face. 'And then I cry about it a little bit, and then it goes away, and then I feel great because I'm … the warm water.'
Before diving further into his shower musings, Blanco cut himself off, wrapping things up with, "OK, next question."
Blanco's shower discussion with Interview magazine comes months after he first opened up about his bathing habits in PEOPLE's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive issue. Sharing his own philosophies about self-care, the producer told PEOPLE in the November issue, 'Don't stink. Do all the stuff.'
Blanco also told the outlet that he does not 'believe in always shampooing" (or conditioning) his hair. 'I'm really clean, but I don't shower every day,' he said at the time. 'Some people I know shower two to three times a day, but I feel like the oils on your skin don't have time to rejuvenate and get juicy.'
As for his preferred scent, post-shower or otherwise, the producer said he likes 'to use a hodgepodge.'
'I want to smell [like] tobacco, but also like cotton candy. I want there to be an aroma as I'm walking by,' he explained. 'I want it to smell a little bit like man, a little bit feminine. I definitely lean a little more feminine in every sense.'
Gomez and Blanco are making a major move (literally). The couple recently purchased a stunning Spanish-style estate in Beverly Hills, taking their relationship to the next level with a jaw-dropping new home.
According to TMZ, Gomez and Blanco sealed the deal on the lavish mansion in December, spending a staggering $35 million to secure the property. The sprawling residence features seven bedrooms and twelve bathrooms, offering plenty of space for the pair to settle in.
Beyond its luxurious living quarters, the estate boasts resort-like amenities, including a grand swirling staircase, a library, and a glass greenhouse solarium. The property also includes a private gym and a swimming pool, making it the ultimate oasis for relaxation and entertainment.
Adding to its allure, the mansion comes with a significant Hollywood pedigree.
Prior to Gomez and Blanco's purchase, the estate was previously owned by a major Hollywood director, further elevating its prestige.
Their multi-million-dollar deal stands as one of the priciest real estate transactions in Beverly Hills for 2024, placing them among the city's elite homeowners. But for Gomez, who recently reached billionaire status thanks to the immense success of her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, this purchase is just another lavish addition to her impressive collection of assets.

Alex Warren, 24, showed his support for Sabrina Carpenter, 26, after the release of her latest single "Manchild" on Monday, June 10, by posting a Spotify link to her newly-released song. However, his seemingly kind gesture sparked apparent backlash from fans on social media. The TikTok star-turned-musician, whose hit "Ordinary" is in its second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, received mixed feelings from fans as Carpenter's latest single is challenging him for the top spot on next week's Billboard Hot 100. Warren called out the negativity on X later that day, emphasizing his intentions with the Instagram Stories post and making clear his support of Carpenter despite competition on the music charts. "Wait why is everyone so mean on here… music is music. I'm so blessed to be on the chart and I'm also so happy for all the wins in music," he began in the post. "Manchild is such a great record and I'm so honored to be mentioned in the same sentence as Sabrina." Warren concluded, "Ordinary means so much to me and so many people and it's totally ok if it doesn't to you. I'm just happy to be here:)." Users came to his defense, writing words of support under his post. "Can we normalize not harassing artists for no reason at all?! Everyone works hard for their records," wrote one user. "Twitter is not a nice place. IGNORE These trolls," commented another. "Some of us are mature and normal enough to stream both songs and support u both! Thank you for being respectful and not spreading hate towards Sabrina or any other artist," penned a third. Carpenter debuted "Manchild" on June 5 through Island Records, and the accompanying music video was released the following day. In February 2025, Warren's "Ordinary" was released through Atlantic Records as the lead single from his upcoming debut studio album,You'll Be Alright, Kid. Warren previously explained the meaning behind his song, "Ordinary," which he said was inspired by his wife, Kouvr Annon. The couple, who initially found fame as members of the content creation hub Hype House, wed in June 2024. The same month "Ordinary" was released, Annon posted a TikTok in which she compiled clips of Warren performing. "When you watch the person you love do the thing they love most in the world," she wrote at the time. She captioned the post, "I'm the worlds most proud musician wife." Rapper Silentó Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison for Cousin's Shooting Death

The rapper Silentó, who scored a major hit with his 2015 single 'Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)' — and the two dance crazes it combined — has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for charges related to the shooting death of his cousin, Frederick Rooks. Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, on Wednesday, June 11, Silentó, born Ricky Lamar Hawk, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to voluntary manslaughter stemming from the January 2021 killing. Police found Rooks' body abandoned on a road outside a home near the Atlanta-area community of Panthersville. Though Hawk was originally charged with malice murder, a felony murder charge was dropped as a part of his plea deal. Hawk also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and concealing the death of another. 'I'm sorry for both sides,' they told DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney L. Johnson, according to the AJC. Hawk was a teenager when 'Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)' took the internet and world by storm. It became popular on the now defunct micro-video app Vine, a predecessor of sorts to TikTok. The song hit Number Three on the Billboard Hot 100 and its music video has earned nearly 2 billion YouTube streams. However, over the years, Hawk and a representative have attested to the rapper's mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and childhood trauma. In 2021, former publicist Chanel Hudson told the AJC that the rapper had attempted suicide the year prior. Later, he faced multiple arrests, including two in California for domestic violence and gun charges.
