Under-21s learn 2025/26 Premier League International Cup opponents
Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest are the other English sides in the group.
Newcastle's youngsters host PSG in their opening group fixture, which must be played by Wednesday, 1st October before welcoming Dinamo Zagreb to Tyneside, which must take place by Tuesday, 4th November.
After facing Real Sociedad in their penultimate group game, which must be played by Tuesday, 9th December, Newcastle will take on Benfica in their final fixture, which must take place by Wednesday, 21st January 2026.
Competing in the tournament for the first time since 2019/20, Newcastle reached the semi-finals of the competition in 2017/18 after finishing in second place of a four-team group involving Liverpool, Sparta Prague and PSV Eindhoven.
United's second-string beat Sunderland in the quarter-finals, via penalties at the Stadium of Light, before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat against eventual winners FC Porto in the semi-final stage at St. James' Park.

Quarterbacks in the Marmonte League, beware. At Friday's football media day, it was pointed out that Simi Valley's Izak Simpson and St. Bonaventure's Matthew Perez are preparing to make their senior years even more memorable in sacking quarterbacks. He practices full speed." Perez gets new coaching from former NFL defensive back Troy Hill at St. Bonaventure, and will be a key player for the Seraphs. If you want a surprise favorite to win the league, try Oxnard Pacifica. Coach Mike Moon said he has the most depth in 13 seasons as head coach. There's lots of firepower with talented juniors Isaiah Phelps and Alijah Royster. And junior quarterback Taylor Lee provided a glimpse of his talent with a six-touchdown game against Camarillo when replacing the injured starting quarterback. A Newbury Park vs. Pacifica game on Sept. 5 should tell a lot. Bishop Diego will have five players who are three-year starters. Oaks Christian won't have top defensive players Davon Benjamin (cornerback) and Joseph Peko (tackle) until week three at the earliest because both are recovering from injuries. Hill, who played at Oregon and with the Rams under Sean McVay, will try to use lessons learned to help the Seraphs. Much will depend on the play of sophomore quarterback Jaxson Carper. Former St. Bonaventure coach Joe Goyeneche is now an assistant coach at Bishop Diego. Simi Valley is opening its season next Friday at home against Spanish Springs from Sparks, Nev.. Oaks Christian running back Deshonne Redeaux changed his body by working three times a day in the weight room. There's little doubt that the USC commit will have a huge season if he can stay healthy. The popular NFL team cans are back for the 2025 season. Bud Light recently unveiled the new limited-edition custom NFL cans for 27 teams for the upcoming season, cans that are available at retailers now. Just five teams don't have their own beer cans for this season. Anheuser-Busch, which makes Bud Light, is the official beer sponsor of the NFL, but it doesn't have local sponsorships with every NFL team. The Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders are the teams without Bud Light cans this season. USC cornerback Prophet Brown suffers noncontact injury, will miss start of season
Through the first two weeks of USC's preseason football camp, Prophet Brown had established himself as one of the early standouts in a crowded cornerback room. But Brown's breakout was cut short this week, when the redshirt junior suffered a noncontact injury during USC's practice that's expected to keep him out for the foreseeable future. The timeline for his return remains uncertain. USC coach Lincoln Riley suggested the team would definitely be without him 'for the first few games' but was still 'hopeful to get him back here at some point.' 'Hate it for him because he's been playing really well,' Riley said. 'Obviously has had one of the more rapid ascents [this fall] in terms of all the years that he's been here.' USC defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn had just singled out Brown on Wednesday night as 'one of the guys we trust most on defense.' 'He's taken a big step,' Lynn said. 'Outside of [safety] Kamari [Ramsey], I would say there's no one on the back end that knows the defense quite like him.' The only other player on USC's roster with more than a handful of snaps in the slot during his college career is transfer corner DJ Harvey. Lynn said on Wednesday that Harvey was getting some reps at slot corner. 'He's a guy from a skill set standpoint that can do all three [corner positions],' Lynn said. 'So we're trying to get him as many reps at those slots as possible, to try to see which one is his best spot.' Chasen Johnson, a transfer from Central Florida, and DeCarlos Nicholson were both expected to compete for outside corner spots and have minimal experience in the slot. Until Friday, USC had felt pretty good about its depth at the position. But losing Brown is a significant blow, one that will put more pressure on young defensive backs to contribute early. Riley also mentioned Braylon Conley and Marcelles Williams as corners who impressed in camp and could step up in Brown's place. Feeling good up front At the start of camp, no position on USC's roster appeared, on paper, to be as big of a concern as the offensive line, where the Trojans have to replace three starters from a group that already struggled a year ago. But nearing the midway point of camp, Riley said he feels better about depth up front than he did in the spring. 'I like this group a lot,' Riley said. 'Some young guys that have really come on fast. Give credit to Coach [Zach] Hanson for the development of these guys because we've got some guys who are rapidly improving.' Among those who have surprised Riley: Guards Hayden Treter and Micah Banuelos, both of whom have dealt with injuries since coming to USC. Both will likely be needed this season, given the lack of proven options otherwise. Etc. Star wideout Ja'Kobi Lane [unspecified injury] has yet to fully participate in USC's preseason practices, but is expected to begin 'ramping up' in the coming days, Riley said.
