In a detailed comment, Isha recounted an audition scenario that left her shaken. She was asked to perform a crying scene in the middle of a crowded restaurant.
Actress Isha Talwar, known for her acclaimed roles in Mirzapur, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, and Article 15, has spoken out against a bizarre and uncomfortable audition experience she had with YRF casting director Shanoo Sharma. Isha took to social media to share her story and offer advice to newcomers in the industry.
In a detailed comment under a publication's post, Isha recounted an audition scenario that left her shaken. She was asked to perform a crying scene in the middle of a crowded restaurant, Mia Cucina in Versova, Mumbai, surrounded by real diners and waitstaff.
'I was told I should have no inhibitions as an actor and hence should be able to cry at a table with Shanoo and her assistants watching me," Isha wrote. Calling the experience 'confusing and weird," she added that it 'shattered [her] confidence as a young girl in films."
Isha questioned the logic behind such an unprofessional setting, saying a casting director should either provide a proper space for auditions or pay for a controlled location. Ultimately, she refused to perform under those circumstances and, as she noted, did not get the role. But she has no regrets.
'At least I didn't give in to the weird ask and surely didn't cry at a restaurant for a role!" she wrote, ending her post with the hashtag #DignityFirstAlways.
This revelation has sparked discussions about professionalism and boundaries within casting processes in Bollywood, especially for newcomers trying to find their footing.
Meanwhile, Shanoo Sharma has been in the spotlight for launching Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in YRF's upcoming film Saiyaara. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Shanoo shared how she discovered Ahaan at the age of 19, calling him 'intriguing" and saying she knew right away they'd work together.
'He was 19 when we met, but he looked 15! I spotted a post of him online and reached out," she revealed.

Avatar Director James Cameron Issues Dire Warning About AI And 'Terminator-Style Apocalypse'

James Cameron has warned of a 'Terminator-style apocalypse' from AI, fearing extinction if AI accesses weapons. The filmmaker is currently making Avatar 3. James Cameron has warned that the world is on the brink of a 'Terminator-style apocalypse". The moviemaker has revealed his fears over the rise of AI in recent years and admitted it's possible for humankind to be left facing extinction if an artificial intelligence network is allowed access to weapons systems, as predicted in his 1984 sci-fi movie The Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. He told Rolling Stone magazine: 'I do think there's still a danger of a Terminator-style apocalypse where you put AI together with weapons systems, even up to the level of nuclear weapon systems, nuclear defence counterstrike, all that stuff. Because the theatre of operations is so rapid, the decision windows are so fast, it would take a super-intelligence to be able to process it, and maybe we'll be smart and keep a human in the loop." 'But humans are fallible, and there have been a lot of mistakes made that have put us right on the brink of international incidents that could have led to nuclear war. So I don't know," he continued. Cameron went on to add, 'I feel like we're at this cusp in human development where you've got the three existential threats: climate and our overall degradation of the natural world, nuclear weapons, and super-intelligence. They're all sort of manifesting and peaking at the same time." Cameron recently signed an open letter calling for nuclear disarmament and his next film project is Ghosts of Hiroshima, based on the Charles Pellegrino book of the same name which tells the story of the atomic bomb blast in 1945 and its aftermath. The director recently admitted the movie might be the most 'challenging film" he's will lever make. Speaking to Discussing Film, Cameron explained, 'This might be the most challenging film I ever make. I don't 100 per cent have my strategy fully in place [right now] for how I want to see it, for how I want to shield people from the horror, but still be honest. Also, for how I can find some kind of poetry, beauty, or spiritual epiphany in it somehow, which I know must be there. It's there in every human story. So, it's going to be very challenging. I might not even be up to the task, but that never stopped me before." First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
