Michigan State baseball has seen their star left handed pitcher Joseph Dzierwa get drafted by the Baltimore Orioles, and now, has seen a star bat sign with a member of the American League East Division.
Caleb Berry has inked a deal with the Boston Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent. The Spartan catcher is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, that transferred to MSU from Milligan of the NAIA. He spent one season with MSU.
In his one season with MSU, Berry was second on the Spartans in average, hitting .297, with 49 hits, while also sitting at fourth on the team in slugging percentage at .467. Berry ranked third on the team in hone runs with six, fourth in RBIs with 34 and tied for fifth in doubles with 10.

MSU basketball reportedly pursuing elite, 5-star PG in 2027 class

Michigan State basketball has reportedly been in contact with an elite point guard prospect in the 2027 class. Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports reported this week that five-star point guard Davion Thompson of Link Academy in Branson, Mo. has been "hearing consistently" from a number of big-time schools, including Michigan State. Other notable schools to be in close contact with Thompson are Indiana, Michigan and Oklahoma per Jenkins' reporting. Thompson is a five-star prospect in the 2027 class, with a recruiting rating of 99.29 in 247Sports composite system. He is ranked as the No. 2 point guard and No. 17 overall prospect in 247Sports composite rankings. He is also listed as the top player in Missouri. According to 247Sports, Michigan State has not officially extended an offer to Thompson. He does, however, hold offers from nearly 10 schools, including Michigan, Tennessee, DePaul, Indiana, Illinois, Wake Forest, Bryant and Eastern Illinois.
