Heavy traffic warning ahead of UK rapper's concert tonight

Perth Now02-07-2025
Main Roads has warned motorists about traffic congestion in Perth city ahead of Central Cee's concert at RAC Arena on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old British rapper, real name Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, is set to take the stage in front of thousands of fans at 9pm for the last show on his Can't Rush Greatness world tour.
Doors to the arena open from 7pm, and Main Roads urged drivers on Wellington Street to drive with caution due to the increased number of vehicles and people in the area before and after the event.
It comes after a 45-year-old man died after he was hit by a bus on Wellington Street while crossing the road about 6.15pm on June 20.
Cee's tour comes off the back of the January release of his long-awaited debut studio album that features guest appearances from Young Miko, 21 Savage, Dave, Lil Durk, Skepta and Lil Baby.
He has been playing sold-out shows across Europe, the UK, the US, Canada and New Zealand before heading Down Under to perform in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Tickets to the Perth concert, which is two days before his birthday, are still available through Ticketek for $114.95.
Regarded as a leading figure in UK rap, he rose to prominence in 2020 with the release of his drill singles Day in the Life and Loading.
Other successful songs include Doja, Band4Band and Sprinter — the most streamed UK rap song last year.
Aside from his music, Cee is also known for his streetwear fashion sense, often styling tracksuits, puffer jackets and skull caps.
He even started a brand called Syna World in 2023 and has done some modelling for Nike and Jaquemus over the years.
After his Perth concert, he will head to Saudi Arabia for a show on August 1.

Emma Thompson reveals she turned down a dinner date with Donald Trump: ‘I'll get back to you'

Emma Thompson has no love, actually, for Donald Trump. The British actress, 66, has revealed that she once turned down the current US president's advances back in the 1998 when he directly phoned her to asked her out on a date. 'He said, 'Hello, this is Donald Trump,'' she told the audience at Locarno film festival in Switzerland over the weekend, as reported by the Guardian. 'I thought it was a joke and asked: 'How can I help you?' Maybe he needed directions from someone.' 'Then he said, 'I'd love you to come and stay at one of my beautiful places. Maybe we could have dinner.' I said, 'Well, that's very sweet. Thank you so much. I'll get back to you.'' Thompson was filming the political satire Primary Colours at the time – a film reportedly based on Bill Clinton's presidential rise – and Trump had just split from his second wife, Marla Maples. Likewise, the Love Actually star was fresh from her divorce from British actor Kenneth Branagh, whose divorce was coincidentally finalised the day Trump, now 79, asked her out. 'I realised my divorce decree had come through that day,' Thompson told the crowd at the event. 'And I bet he's got people looking for suitable people he could take out on his arm. You know, a nice divorcee, that's what he was looking for.' 'And he found the number in my trailer. I mean, that's stalking,' she jokingly added. At the time, Thompson was already in a relationship with her Sense and Sensibility co-star Greg Wise, who she went on to marry in 2003. Trump, of course, went on meet Melania Trump later in 1998 and they were married in 2005. He became the 45th US president in 2017 before again being voted into the top job last year. Thompson – a lifelong Labour supporter and activist in the UK, who campaigned for refugees and women's rights – joked that she could have impacted the life and political choices of Trump if she didn't turn him down. 'I could have gone on a date with Donald Trump, and then I would have a story to tell,' she said, entertaining a 'sliding doors' moment. 'I could have changed the course of American history.'

British singer Jessie J shares emotional health update following breast cancer diagnosis and surgery

British pop star Jessie J has revealed she will undergo further surgery, all while still in the thick of recovery from surgery for breast cancer. Since publicly announcing her diagnosis in June, the 37-year-old singer, whose real name is Jessica Ellen Cornish, has been open about her health journey, sharing both the highs and lows with her fans. In her latest update posted on Friday, Cornish expressed her determination to keep doing what she loves — being a mother to her two-year-old son, Sky, and making music — despite needing another surgery this year. 'I can rest, parent AND release new music,' she shared on Instagram. 'I didn't leave a major label after 18 years to be scared to rewrite the rules to fit around my life and health. 'I just have to make it realistic for what I can deliver in all roles in my life.' Now seven weeks post-surgery, the singer acknowledged her recovery is still ongoing but her passion for music and life remains strong. 'I'm still in the thick of recovery and my body is still finding its way,' Cornish added. 'But I LOVE music and I LOVE my life and I want to LIVE in the moment. 'Instead of stopping and disappearing and waiting for the timing to be perfect to release music again. 'I am choosing to carry on.' Her heartfelt message follows a difficult week — just days earlier, the hitmaker revealed on her Instagram stories that she had been hospitalised due to an infection. Since announcing her early-stage breast cancer diagnosis on June 4, Cornish has been praised for her willingness to share personal details about her journey. 'I just wanted to be open and share it — one, because selfishly, I don't talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard,' the pop star explained at the time. 'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me — with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories. 'I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much — similar, and worse.' On June 24, Cornish posted an emotional carousel of photos following the breast cancer surgery, including pictures of her partner, Chanan Colman, and their son, Sky. '!! Blood warning !! This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours,' she bravely posted. 'I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through. 'Grateful to my doctor/surgeon, the nurses who cared for me, and all my family and friends who visited. 'I am home now, to rest and wait for my results. 'Chanan is in a nurse outfit. No no, he isn't, but funny to imagine. 'Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!' In a recent interview, Cornish recalled breaking down in tears while looking at her post-surgery scars and described a moment shared with her mother. 'The other night, Mum was massaging my boob for me, because I can't touch the scars,' she told The Sunday Times. 'And I started sobbing, 'I can't believe this has happened.' She was like, 'I wish it was me,' and then I'm crying, she's crying… I'm so glad it's not her.' Despite her health setbacks, Cornish isn't letting anything slow her down. In her most recent health update, the pop star also teased the release of new music on August 29.

'Sick in the pit of my stomach': Peter Andre breaks down after learning of 'disgusting' messages sent to 18-year-old daughter Princess by older men online

Peter Andre has been left shaken after discovering the disturbing online messages his daughter Princess has been receiving from men on social media. The 52-year-old British-Australian singer, who shares 18-year-old Princess and 20-year-old Junior with ex-wife Katie Price, appeared in the debut episode of Princess' new ITV2 reality series, which aired on Sunday. During one scene, father and daughter were sitting together on the couch when Princess revealed she had been getting inappropriate comments online. "Whatcha doing?" the Mysterious Girl singer asked, to which Princess awkwardly replied: "Reading comments… People saying they want to see my feet." Andre's face immediately dropped. "What?! When did this start happening?" he asked. When Princess, who was 17 at the time, admitted it had been happening "within the last year" her father asked in disbelief: "Please, god, tell me that's the only thing they ask for." But she went on to explain that she also receives "weirder comments" asking if she's "finally legal". Andre put his head in his hands, visibly upset. "You find out who that was, flipping hell," he said. The social media influencer and model then hesitated before showing her father one of the more disturbing messages she'd received. "I don't actually know if I want to show you. I found the comment, but it's quite disgusting." Andre read the message, before recoiling and pushing the phone away. "Oh my God I didn't think it was going to be like that," he said. "That really made me feel sick, like in the pit of my stomach. I hate it because you're still my baby." Andre pressed for more details: "How old is this dude? What's his name? Where does he live?" Princess, whose accounts are public, said she had no idea who he was. "Has this distressed you?" Andre asked. "No, that's life, that's social media," she replied, explaining she wouldn't switch to a private account because she would "lose her job". Elsewhere during the episode, Princess reflected on the darker side of her career. "I do love my job and I do love social media and I do love interacting with people but there is a dark side to social media that people don't see, and there are a lot of inappropriate messages that… yeah some of them can be horrible," she said. Princess' famous parents met on the 2004 UK series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and married the following year before divorcing in 2009. On Sunday, She and Junior also appeared on This Morning on Sunday to discuss growing up in the public eye and her new show. "To us, it's like our normality, we don't really know any different," Princess said. Junior added that while they 'didn't really have any privacy" growing up on reality TV, they "don't feel different to anybody else."
