Alex Cooper has long been an open book online — but with her new Hulu docuseries, she wanted to go even deeper.
On Sunday, June 8, the Call Her Daddy host, 30, attended the premiere of Call Her Alex at the Tribeca Festival in New York City. During a Q&A session, she explained that the series was her way of giving fans a more complete picture of who she is and what her daily life truly looks like.
The project directed by Ry Russo-Young originally began as behind-the-scenes footage from her Unwell Tour, which kicked off in late 2023 at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Mass. However, as filming progressed, the scope of the series expanded.
Cooper found herself navigating significant life changes — from launching her media company, Unwell, to planning her wedding with film producer Matt Kaplan.
The couple, who first met over Zoom in 2020, tied the knot on April 6, 2024, in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
"When you're filming a documentary, there is a level of exposure that I wasn't used to if you're seeing me in my kitchen and I'm not just doing it for TikTok," she said during the Q&A. "You're really seeing me in my life with my husband. I know you guys know how private Matt and I usually are, but I think this was a goal to show a little bit more."
She added, "In the second episode, you will see parts of our vows from our wedding, which makes me cry every time."
Although Cooper filmed her entire wedding for the docuseries, much of it didn't make the final cut.
'I was filming it and I'm like, 'Okay, these people don't need to see my whole f------ wedding,'' she said. 'But it was so fun to rewatch it. I hadn't seen the footage and when I got the footage I was like, oh my God, this is so beautiful."
But for Cooper, opening up on camera for this project came with challenges — particularly giving up her usual editorial control. When it comes to Call Her Daddy, she explained that she's used to setting up the cameras herself, then exporting, editing and uploading the content on her own.
"Sometimes it's my favorite part," she said during the Q&A. "Matt always jokes and he's like, if you could not be on camera and you could just be the editor, I feel like you'd be the happiest person in the world. I love it. It's just been who I am to my core."
"But I think it was good that I didn't do the edit — or you probably would've never seen this because it would've taken me 19 years and I would've said, it's not perfect. We can't put it out yet. So thank God someone took it away from me," she added.
"So to have Ry there with the full camera crew and cameras in my face — people that I don't know — it definitely elicited a bit of nervousness within me because I am trusting, but I've always had the control," she said. "So to hand the keys over to this woman, I was like, please don't f--- my life up. And she did it. We made it."
Call Her Alex premieres on Hulu on June 10, with both episodes dropping at once.

PREDATOR: BADLANDS Director Hints at Arnold Schwarzenegger's Possible Return After Meeting — GeekTyrant

Could Arnold Schwarzenegger be gearing up for a return as Dutch in the Predator franchise? If director Dan Trachtenberg has his way, the answer might be yes. During Friday's Predator: Badlands panel at Comic-Con, Trachtenberg teased the Hall H crowd, revealing he recently had breakfast with the original Predator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and that the meeting might lead to something big. 'I got to meet him for breakfast and cook up stuff for that guy,' Trachtenberg said, hinting at a potential return for Dutch. Schwarzenegger first brought Dutch to life in John McTiernan's 1987 sci-fi action classic Predator , where his elite team faced off against the ultimate alien hunter in the jungles of Central America. Since then, the franchise has exploded into nine films including two crossovers with Alien , and the upcoming Predator: Badlands . Despite the franchise's long history, Schwarzenegger has never returned to play Dutch, until now, sort of. Last month, fans got a surprise when the franchise's first animated entry, Predator: Killer of Killers , dropped. Trachtenberg also revealed a new epilogue scene, now streaming on Hulu, that features Dutch alongside Danny Glover's Lt. Mike Harrigan from Predator 2 and Amber Midthunder's Naru from Prey. The scene depicts all three characters in sleep chambers being collected by Predator warriors. The director confirmed that he needed Schwarzenegger's blessing to pull this off: 'I got his approval to use his likeness in that scene,' he said, adding that the breakfast meeting made it possible. Trachtenberg has been instrumental in breathing new life into the franchise, having previously helmed Prey and the animated Killer of Killers . With Badlands marking his third major outing, he seems committed to pushing the universe forward, and possibly bringing its most iconic character along for the ride. Predator: Badlands stars Elle Fanning as Thia, a character who forms an unexpected alliance with a young Predator who arrives on the deadliest planet in the universe to hunt the deadliest creature. It's a cool concept, but the idea of Dutch returning in some capacity? That's the kind of move that could send fans into overdrive. If Trachtenberg really is 'cooking up stuff' for Schwarzenegger, it raises some big questions, but it would have to be an animated project. We'll have to wait and see, but one thing's clear, Trachtenberg isn't done surprising us, and Dutch might not be finished fighting predators yet. Predator: Badlands hits theaters on November 7. Would you want to see Arnold back in live-action? And if so, how do you think Dutch should fit into the modern Predator saga?

Alice Cooper on reuniting with band after 50 years, new memoir and teaching Bible study

The hotel room is a combination of drab green and beige, but Alice Cooper is a vision in black. Sitting regally on a couch in his quarters while on tour in Germany, Cooper smiles often. His long black hair is combed back and his over-ear headphones on, fitting for the radio pro that he is in addition to his 50-plus-year career in music as a pioneering shock rocker. Cooper is eager to talk about 'The Revenge of Alice Cooper,' the first new album in more than five decades from The Alice Cooper Group. Yes, for the uninitiated, those early '70s anthems of rebellion – 'School's Out,' 'I'm Eighteen,' 'Billion Dollar Babies' among them – are the work of the Group: Cooper (initially using his real name, Vincent Furnier); guitarist Michael Bruce; bassist Dennis Dunaway; drummer Neal Smith and guitarist Glen Buxton. But the end of The Alice Cooper Group with 1973's 'Muscle of Love' album and the beginning of Alice Cooper, who legally changed his name as a solo star, just two years later with 'Welcome to My Nightmare,' blurred the distinction. Now, the original band is back with 'The Revenge of Alice Cooper,' 14 heavy-hitting songs including 'Black Mamba,' 'Wild Ones' and 'Up All Night,' that snarl and thunder far beyond expectations for guys approaching 80. Even Buxton, who died in 1997, lives on through a technological assist on the track, 'What Happened To You.' The engaging Cooper, 77 – on tour now and again this fall with Judas Priest – reminisced about playing with his old friends, shared some details about his upcoming memoir and expressed his appreciation about this year's induction into the Radio Hall of Fame. More: Surprise! Johnny Depp joins Alice Cooper for Ozzy Osbourne tribute Question: So for what, exactly, is The Alice Cooper Group seeking revenge? Alice Cooper: We were always the underdogs. The press said this band will last for one year, they're great onstage but not good musicians. Then we had all these platinum albums. There is no stage involved there. So they had to admit, we have to put up with these guys … The revenge is that 50 years later we do an album and none of us knew what this was going to be and it turned out we made a really good 1975-type record. We didn't break up with bad blood. We didn't divorce. We just separated and were best friends and my career went on and on and they all made money when I released an album and the back catalog sold (laughs). Did you record the album the old-fashioned way, with everyone in the same room at the same time? Yes. Why not show out the band? When we got together, it just jelled. The whole album is dedicated to Glen. He was everyone's favorite guy. And then we had (The Doors guitarist) Robby Krieger on 'Black Mamba.' He was the perfect guy for that song. And our (other guitarist) Gyasi Heus, who said he learned from Glen, he just killed it. How did you get Glen's guitar solo on 'What Happened To You'? Dennis Dunaway, who is my oldest friend, never threw anything away. He had tapes of us rehearsing in our parents' living room when we were 15 and also tapes of us writing songs that never quite made it. We took a Glen guitar part and isolated it and wrote a song around it so we could have him on the album. With technology now you can do that. I forgot how much fun it was to work with the original band, how funny they were. I was shocked at how well Neal and Dennis played. They played every bit as well as back in the day. Congrats on the nomination for the Radio Hall of Fame. Did you ever think you'd parlay a career as a rock star into a side gig as a broadcaster ('Alice's Attic' is syndicated around the country)? Radio has always been part of my life. Dick Clark once asked me 23 years ago if I had a radio show what would it be … and I said I would take it back to 1968 when DJs played what they want to play. He said, let's see if it works. And 22 years later, it's still working! (Cooper relaunched his original 'Nights with Alice Cooper' as 'Alice's Attic' in 2024.) More: My Chemical Romance announce 2025 tour with Alice Cooper, Devo: Tickets, dates, more You play a lot of classic rock bands on "Alice's Attic" (The Doors, Styx, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin). Do you worry about the existence of rock bands in the future? We were in the golden age. If a label wanted you, you got signed for 15 albums and they would support your band until you could pay them back. Young bands don't have that support so I can understand how a young band can't survive right now. But the good point is, when we started, rock(ers) were the kids not invited to the party, the outsiders. Now it's getting back to that and young bands are in garages and playing clubs and guitar-driven rock 'n' roll. It's been a minute since your 2007 book 'Golf Addict' came out. Would you do a sequel? It's being written right now, more the classic story about who I am, how I became Alice, all the things about my family and coming from a Christian background. I was the prodigal son and went as far away as you could. Now I occasionally teach Bible study Wednesday mornings in Phoenix. Everything about me and the band was about coming out of the ashes and somehow winning even when you weren't expected to.

Couple Reveal Name for New Baby—Then Comes Revelation: 'What Did We Do?'

A Texas couple who thought the names of their two children sounded "so good" together made a horrifying discovery at their baby shower. Chelsea Nash (@chelseamaenash) explained in a clip on TikTok how she and her husband Cole realized they had unintentionally named both of their daughters after the main characters in the sci-fi epic Interstellar—years after falling in love with the film together. "I was in disbelief for two reasons: first, because I couldn't believe I hadn't made the connection sooner; and, second, because realizing it made me love the name even more," Chelsea, 27, told Newsweek. Chelsea, who was delighted to hear this, recognized that his choice was from Interstellar, which happened to be the couple's favorite movie. A year later, their daughter Murphy Grace was born and named intentionally after the daughter of astronaut Cooper. Fast forward another nine months and Chelsea was pregnant again—with another girl—and scrolling through baby-name websites. Then she saw the name Cooper. "I really liked kind of the unisex vibe, and I was like, 'Oh, Murphy and Cooper, like, that sounds so good together,'" Chelsea said in her clip. But it wasn't until the baby shower that the couple realized what they had done, when all the guests seemed to clock the connection between the two names. "Everybody was like, 'Oh, like Murphy Cooper from Interstellar, that's so cute!' My husband and I looked at each other and we were like, 'What did we do?'" Despite the accidental tribute, the couple said they have no regrets. "We absolutely still love the names," Chelsea added. "Realizing Cooper fit right into the same universe just deepened our connection to both names." They have since rewatched Interstellar from a fresh perspective, which Chelsea said "hits completely differently" as parents. "I relate most to Cooper now, especially that devastating scene where he finally receives decades of missed video messages from his kids," she said. "As a mom, it's nearly impossible to watch without tearing up." Chelsea's clip has clocked up over 147,000 views and almost 10,000 likes. Many other parents chimed in with stories about their kids' names. "I love sci-fi names. My son is Artemis. Everyone hates it but I love it," one user said. Another mom wrote that she had accidentally named her kids after characters from the movie Twilight. "My first is called Jacob (his dad's name as I was too exhausted to fight over names as he vetoed so many) and then my second is Edward," she wrote. If baby number three ever enters the scene, Chelsea and Cole joked about keeping the space saga going. The couple have thought about Joseph—Cooper's first name in the original script. They have also considered "Amelia" after Anne Hathaway's character or even naming a future family dog "TARS," "CASE," or "KIPP," in keeping with the theme. And if lead character Matthew McConaughey ever happens to cross their path? "We visit Austin [Texas] a few times a year, and I'm always keeping an eye out—just in case," Chelsea said.
