Dhadak 2 X reviews: Fans call Triptii-Siddhant's film an unworthy remake

India Today4 days ago
'Dhadak 2', starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, released in theatres today. This marked the return of the romantic franchise that began with the 2018 hit 'Dhadak'. Since its release, 'Dhadak 2' sparked a range of reactions on social media platform X, with some praising its storytelling and others criticising it as an unworthy remake. One viewer praised the film's bold representation of its female lead, writing, "Dhadak 2 is better than the original in terms of giving the female lead a voice, and a very loud voice indeed. A very raw film, no over the top gyaan, just representation of reality. Even after the CBFC cuts, the message comes through! Shazia Iqbal, take a bow!"advertisementHowever, not all reviews were positive. A user slammed the film, saying, "Paid reviews and block bookings won't make #Dhadak2 a success. It's a poor remake of Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal which is available on Amazon. Watch that instead of wasting your time on this boring remake."
Another fan, clearly rooting for the actors, especially Triptii Dimri, wrote, "Dhadak 2 is getting good reviews. Looks like the Dhadak franchise will continue with more and more love stories. All the best to you Tripti. Girly, I love you. You have faced so much. It's your moment to shine. Both my girlies deserve the world."Some viewers had a more balanced take, appreciating the performances but questioning the execution. "I just watched #Dhadak2 and I must say it's an average remake with good performance by the leads, but the original movie and their main leads were too good in it. The makeup artist just added a black shade to their makeup to show poverty in remake. Just watch the original at home," wrote one user.Take a look at the reactions:
Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is a Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil film 'Pariyerum Perumal'. The storyline of the film deals with the themes of caste-based discrimination and social injustice, told through the love story of Nilesh, a boy from a marginalised caste, and Vidhi, a girl from a wealthy family.Alongside Triptii and Siddhant, the film also stars Zakir Hussain, Saurav Joshi, Deepak Sharma, and Vipin Yadav in supporting roles.- Ends

Dhadak 2 box office collection Day 4: Janhvi Kapoor's debut made three times as much as Tripti Dimri-Siddhant Chaturvedi's sequel in the same time frame

Dhadak 2 box office collection Day 4: Despite receiving good reviews from critics, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's new film, Dhadak 2, is failing to maintain momentum at the box office. After an underwhelming opening on Friday, the film saw a minor increase in collections over the weekend. However, it failed to pass the Monday litmus test, dropping by over 66 percent. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 3.5 crore on Friday and witnessed a 7% and 10% increase on Saturday and Sunday, respectively — earning Rs 3.75 crore and Rs 4.15 crore. On Monday, the film saw a steep fall of 66%, earning only Rs 1.4 crore. This brings Dhadak 2's total domestic collection to Rs 12.8 crore. On Monday, the film registered a very low 14.26% Hindi occupancy. Major cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and the NCR — which also have the maximum number of screens — recorded low occupancy of around 15%. Dhadak 2 was released in theatres alongside Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's Son of Sardaar 2. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film has managed to perform decently and has earned Rs 27.25 crore within four days of release — more than double the Rs 12.8 crore earned by Dhadak 2 in the same time frame. Co-produced by Karan Johar, Dhadak 2 is the spiritual sequel to the 2018 film Dhadak, which marked the Bollywood debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. The Siddhant and Triptii-starrer has lagged behind its predecessor. Within four days of its release, Dhadak had managed to mint Rs 39.19 crore — three times the amount Dhadak 2 has earned in the same duration. Mohit Suri's surprise blockbuster Saiyaara, now in its third weekend, is still managing to give stiff competition to new releases. On its third Monday, Saiyaara earned Rs 2.5 crore — higher than Dhadak 2's Monday figure of Rs 1.4 crore. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently took to Instagram to hail the film. He compared it to the cinema created by stalwarts like Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt, Yash Chopra, and others, calling it 'a punch in the gut.' A part of his post read, 'The film captures the conversation that we avoid on a day to day basis. This is what mainstream cinema was meant to be, and this is what great filmmakers like Raj Kapoor, Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, K A Abbas, B R Chopra, Yash Chopra and so many used to do. We forgot to make mainstream films of social relevance. They got relegated to independent art house cinema.'

Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri , the action-packed drama opened to mostly positive reviews and registered one of the strongest openings of Vijay 's career. However, as the weekdays set in, the film's collection appears to be declining. Kingdom Movie Review According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Kingdom earned around Rs 2.25 crore net on its fifth day (Monday), across all languages in India. With this, the film's total Indian net collection stands at an estimated Rs 43.15 crore after five days.
