New Delhi: A day after the Cabinet Committee on Security decided to take harsh steps against Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Wednesday that the perpetrators of the gruesome killings in Pahalgam and their handlers will be pursued 'till the ends of the earth' and punished with a severity beyond their imagination. The prime minister spoke for the first time on the April 22 terror attack, at a rally in Madhubani, Bihar, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for a host of projects on National Panchayat Day . He began his speech with a request to all present to observe a few moments of silence as a tribute to the 28 people killed by terrorists and pray for their souls.'Friends, today from the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world: India will identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to ensure that justice is done. The entire nation is firm in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us,' Modi said. While the rest of his speech was in Hindi, he chose to speak the above lines in English to send across a message to the world leaders of India's anger and intent. He thanked the heads of various countries who have stood by India at this juncture.Modi chose to make these remarks in Bihar where Assembly elections are due in October. One of those killed at Pahalgam was Manish Ranjan, an IB official hailing from Bihar.Modi was equally scathing in Hindi on the killing of innocent tourists at Pahalgam.'The nation is in agony over the cruelty with which terrorists killed innocent countrymen on April 22 at Pahalgam in J&K. Every citizen is in sorrow. The whole country is standing by the affected families. The government is making every effort to ensure speedy recovery of the injured. In this terror attack, somebody lost a son, a brother, or a life-partner. Among them, somebody spoke Bangla, Kannada or Marathi. Somebody was Oriya, somebody Gujarati, somebody a son of Bihar. From Kargil to Kanyakumari, our pain and outrage is the same over the death of all of them,' Modi said.He said this was not a mere attack on some tourists and will not be taken lightly.'This attack was not just on unarmed tourists. The enemies of this country have committed the audacity of attacking the soul of India. I want to say in very clear words that those terrorists who perpetrated this attack, and those who hatched this conspiracy, will get punishment that will be beyond their imagination. Punishment will definitely be given. The time has come to put to end the remnants of the base of terrorists,' the prime minister said.Echoing the anger of the people over this heinous act, Modi underlined that the will-power of 140 crore Indians will break the back of the sponsors of terrorism.Modi's words were reminiscent of the tough stance India has taken in the recent past. In 2016, India had launched a surgical strike in retaliation to the deadly attack at an Indian army camp in Uri in which 19 Indian soldiers were killed. In 2019, Modi had ordered the Balakot air strike on Pakistan after the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. After the Pahalgam attack , India has already initiated tough measures, including putting the Indus Waters Treaty on hold, shutting down the Attari border, expelling Pakistan's defence advisers based in Delhi, and cutting down the strength of Pakistan high commission from the already curtailed 55 to 30.

"He is the only PM who tells lies, entire India knows this": Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 12 (ANI): Backing Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday said the PM is known for making false claims and 'entire India knows this.' Speaking to reporters, Minister Reddy said, 'He is the only PM who tells lies. Entire India knows people are liars. Why do you give prominence to those people?' Responding to a question on the recent stampede incident in Bengaluru, Reddy said it would not be appropriate to comment at this stage as an official investigation is underway. 'Already, an inquiry is going on. It's better not to comment on it now,' the minister said. Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier sharpened his attack on Prime Minister Modi, marking the completion of 11 years of the BJP-led government at the Centre. Drawing from his decades-long political experience, Kharge alleged that he had 'never seen a Prime Minister who lies so much.' The Congress President said that he had been in politics for 65 years and alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been deceiving the youth and securing votes by luring the poor. Kharge added, 'I had been saying this in Parliament for a long time, and I had never seen a Prime Minister who lied so much, made so many mistakes, trapped people, deceived the youth, and took votes by misleading them. I had been in politics for 65 years. He lied about everything, and not a single promise was implemented.' Furthermore, the Congress President highlighted that PM Narendra Modi did not respond whenever he was questioned on issues such as demonetisation, MSP, or unemployment. 'When we asked him, he did not have any answers--whether it was about demonetisation, unemployment, or MSP. There were so many such issues. He never told the people that he had misled them. He just kept making one statement after another and claimed that his 11 years were over,' Kharge added. (ANI)

The priority of the Modi govt's four pillars is the poor, youth, farmers and women of developed India: MoS Home Nityanand Rai
Gaya (Bihar) [India], June 12 (ANI): Union Minister of State Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Thursday addressed a press Conference on the Occasion of the 11-year completion of the Modi Government in the Centre and highlighted the achievements made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Rai said that the Modi government's priority has always been the four pillars of a developed India: the poor, youth, farmers, and women. MoS Home Nityanand Rai further said in a Press Conference that now, strict action will be taken against terrorist attacks like a war. Operation Sindoor has precisely hit the terrorist camps and airbases of Pakistan, which is a symbol of the new strength of the changing India. Pakistan has received a clear and strong message that terror, water and trade cannot go together. Blood and water cannot flow together. Any attack on Indian soil will be treated as an act of war. The 11 years of the Modi Government are about development and legacy. The Modi government means good governance and welfare of people with low incomes. India is creating a history of development and valour, in which Modi Ji's resolve, herculean efforts, and success are visible in the last 11 years,' Rai added. MoS Home Nityanand Raid further said that Swami Vivekananda had predicted that the 21st century would belong to India, where no one would be hungry, illiterate, or homeless. Swami Vivekananda's childhood name was Narendra; today, the name of India's Karmayogi Prime Minister is also Narendra. One, Narendra, made a prophecy; another is fulfilling it. Before 2014, the thinking of the Previous Congress government was 'It cannot happen,' and today, 'Modi hai toh Mumkin Hai.' The government is now responsive, accountable, and public participation-oriented, and the mantra is 'Reform, Perform, Transform,' he added. MoS Home further said that Under the Modi regime, several historic developments were made, including the removal of Article 370, the construction of Ram Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the Statue of Unity, Panchtirtha, and the National War Memorial, the honouring of heroes, the implementation of GST, and the coming into force of the Waqf Act. 'There has been a revolution in infrastructure under the leadership of Modi Ji. The Hon'ble Prime Minister inaugurated the world's tallest Chenab railway bridge. One hundred eleven waterways have been declared national waterways. 3600 km of high-speed corridor has been constructed,' he added. Rai further added that under the Modi government, 99% of villages have connectivity under the government. 34 km of highways have been constructed daily. The railway budget has increased 9 times. 136 Vande Bharat trains have been run.103 Amrut Bharat stations have been renovated. The number of airports has risen to 160 due to the Udan scheme, and air travel has become affordable. (ANI)
