Amad Diallo insists Man United fans will need to be 'patient' this season and reveals expectation for Red Devils - as he looks forward to playing alongside £70m Bryan Mbeumo
'I think they have to be patient with us,' said Amad. 'There's a new manager, with new players and new tactics. We know last season wasn't really good for the team, but I think this season we will win a lot with him (Ruben Amorim) and I hope this season that we are going to achieve a lot of good things by the end of the season,' the 23-year-old added.
Pressed on what would be a good season, Amad insisted that qualification for the Champions League would be a success for United. 'A good season will be top five. I hope we can achieve top five at the end of the season,' he said.
Matheus Cunha made his debut for United in a pre-season friendly against Leeds on Saturday, after making a £62.5m move from Wolves while Bryan Mbeumo is also set to join Amorim's side after a deal with Brentford was agreed, worth in excess of £70m.
Asked about Cunha, Amad said: 'He's a good player - we need good players in the team and he'll bring a lot to the team. I hope he can give us some different things. Especially last season, we missed a lot of good players in the final third. He (Cunha) scored a lot of goals last season, so I just wish him all the best.'
On Mbeumo, Amad added: 'Of course I'm looking forward to playing with him. We need good players in the team who can bring something to the final third. We are really excited to have them in the team and I hope that together we can give something to the fans at the end of the season because they deserve it.'
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is in talks with Barcelona over a potential loan move but Amad refused to discuss the situation.
'The only thing I can say is good luck to him, but I'm more focused on United and my team,' the Ivorian said.
Alejandro Garnacho, another one of Amad's teammates, is also heading out of Old Trafford with Amorim insisting that the 21-year-old is not part of his plans.
'I think this is not really my problem,' said Amad, when asked about Garnacho. 'The only thing I'm thinking right now is how we will learn together as a team.'
United will now head to America for three games as part of the Premier League Summer Series.

Liam Dawson to make England Test return in place of injured Shoaib Bashir
Liam Dawson will make his first Test appearance in eight years in place of the injured Shoaib Bashir as England look to seal a series win over India at Emirates Old Trafford. The 35-year-old played the last of his three Tests in July 2017, but he has been a star performer on the County Championship circuit with Hampshire and amassed 49 wickets in 2023 and a further 53 in 2024. He had drifted out of England's red and white-ball contention in recent years, but Bashir breaking a finger on his non-bowling hand in the 22-run win at Lord's last week opened the door for Dawson. England have now confirmed their XI, as is now customary, two days out from the fourth Test and Dawson coming in for Bashir is the only change, with Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse retained. As well as being a shrewd left-arm spinner, Dawson, who returned to England's T20 side in their win over the West Indies last month, has 18 first-class hundreds and is a renowned as a fine fielder. Harry Brook said: '(Dawson) is a wily, old fox, very experienced and a very skilful cricketer. He's played everywhere, played against everyone so hopefully he can have an amazing performance this week. 'He's willing to always fight for the team, he's very competitive and it's good to have him here.'

Etienne Youte transfer fee plunges as Celtic face £6m 'hurry' with 'best defender' exit escalating centre back search
The recruitment drive at Celtic Park looks to be ramping up with the season fast approaching Le Havre president Jean-Michel Roussier admits their asking price for centre-back Etienne Youte could drop amid reported interest from Celtic. Reports in France suggest that the Scottish Premiership champions have joined Anderlecht and Besiktas in the race to land the 23-year-old. Youte only has a year remaining on his currently contract and the Ligue 1 outfit would reportedly accept a €5million (£4.3million) fee this summer. But Roussier admits that the cash-strapped club could be forced into a bargain sale of the centre-back this summer. Speaking to Paris Normadie, the club supremo was asked about the risk of allowing player's deals to run out. He said: "We're used to it. We have to sell a lower cost, with free agents something we cannot risk. We are a company that is losing money." Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic is also said to be on the agenda amid claims that the club are ready to drop their asking price. It was claimed earlier this summer that Celtic representatives "offered" £5.1million for the 17-year-old, which was rejected. However, a £6million offer would reportedly tempt the Serbian side to cash-in on the rising star. Max Sport report that Everton have made contact and are now stepping up their interest - which could leave Celtic in a "hurry" to get the deal over the line and see off the Premier League side in a bidding war. Maik Nawrocki is among the fringe men that have been allowed to leave the club this summer - but Frank McAvennie reckons the club have made a mistake in allowing the Polish star join Hannover 96. But speaking on his 'Let Me Be Frank' podcast, McAvennie said: 'There are a couple of players who went out. 'I feel sorry for Nawrocki. He has gone out, and I thought, 'that boy was decent.' I really did. I thought he was a good player. 'I hope we don't rue that. He never let the team down. He came in, five or six games, and he was outstanding. He was the best defender we had.'
