State govt cannot resolve Perak FC's financial crisis, says Saarani

PETALING JAYA : The Perak government is unable to resolve the financial crisis faced by the Perak FC football team, says menteri besar Saarani Mohamad.
He said it is too costly to finance Perak FC as it is a huge expenditure incurred every season, Bernama reported.
'The game of football in Malaysia is too expensive, and the state government is unable to bear the cost anymore.
'I hope Perak football fans understand that it is not only our state that cannot afford it but other states are facing the same problem too (with their football team).
'We (the state government) are also not able to solve the problem of salary arrears for Perak FC players,' he told reporters after attending a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the Indera Mulia Stadium in Ipoh today.
However, Saarani said the development of football would still continue through the Perak Football Association which plays a role in unearthing new talents from schools and youths.
'The cost (of football development) is very affordable and the state government has also helped to finance about RM1 million into finding new talent,' he was quoted as saying.
Yesterday, Perak FC chairman Azim Zabidi reportedly confirmed that the squad had to withdraw from the Malaysia Super League competition next season due to financial issues.
Azim was reported to have said his team had done everything it could to develop the club, including spending almost RM40 million over the past three years.

Commenting on the cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming election, Hajiji said GRS remains open to discussions with the party's leaders. 'The last time I met the BN chairman (Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) was before the fasting month. While political matters were discussed, there have been no further talks on collaboration or related issues since then. 'There is no issue with meeting; I have great respect for all friends, especially the BN chairman, and we are very open on this matter,' he said. Deepening Cambodian Muslim bonds on Aidil Adha
PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet lauded the country's minority Muslim community for their contribution to nation-building. In his special greetings to the Muslims on the occasion of Aidil Adha, the prime minister emphasised their invaluable contribution in fostering racial harmony across the Kingdom. Pakistan's Asean dialogue partner bid to be discussed with regional leaders, says Anwar
PUTRAJAYA: Pakistan's bid to become a full dialogue partner with Asean will be discussed with leaders of the regional grouping, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. "It will be brought up for discussion at the Asean leaders' conference,' he told reporters briefly after performing the Aidiladha prayers at the Putra Mosque here Saturday (June 7). He said this when asked to comment on Pakistan's renewed efforts to elevate its partnership status with Asean. Yesterday, Pakistan's High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah reportedly said that Islamabad is renewing its push to become a full dialogue partner, reflecting the country's commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and deepening engagement with the bloc. Pakistan, which became Asean's first sectoral dialogue partner in 1993, has consistently valued its cooperation with the regional grouping and aims to further expand those ties. In October last year, Anwar was quoted as saying that Malaysia fully supported Pakistan's efforts to become a full dialogue partner of Asean. Meanwhile, when asked about Pakistan welcoming his offer to mediate in the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, Anwar said Malaysia only hopes for a peaceful resolution. "I have no role to play, I'm simply offering my opinion,' he said. Earlier, Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, performed the Aidiladha prayers alongside nearly 15,000 congregants at the Putra Mosque. He then listened to the Aidiladha sermon titled 'Korban dan Semangat Kebersamaan', which emphasised the importance of intention, proper conduct, and sincerity in performing the sacrificial ritual.
