Three Wisconsin Badgers appear on PFF's list of the NFL's top centers for 2025 season A trio of former Wisconsin Badgers landed on ProFootballFocus' list of the top 32 centers entering the 2025 NFL season. Captained by Super Bowl-winning center Creed Humphrey, PFF's hierarchy features former Badger standouts Joe Tippmann, Tyler Biadasz and Tanor Bortolini. Tippmann, who is entering his third campaign representing the New York Jets, landed at No. 11 on the ranking between Arizona Cardinal Hjalte Froholdt (No. 10) and Cleveland Brown Ethan Pocic (No. 12). The Fort Wayne, Indiana, native has started in 31 of 33 career games in New York, including all 17 games at center a season ago with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers at the helm. The Jets, with building star Breece Hall and Badger alumnus Braelon Allen in the backfield, rushed 363 times for 1,561 yards and eight scores behind Tippmann in 2024. Here's PFF's analysis on how the 2022 Honorable mention All-Big Ten center stacks up this coming season: "Tippmann took a big step forward in his second NFL season, earning a top-10 PFF overall grade (73.4) among centers. He improved his figure by more than 10 points on the grading scale over his rookie campaign, which bodes well for his ability to continue his career progression at just 24 years old." Amherst, Wisconsin, product Tyler Biadasz was the second Badger on PFF's recent list at No. 15. The five-year NFL veteran and 2022 Pro Bowler made 49 starts across four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys before suiting up in 15 games with the Washington Commanders during the 2024 slate. With rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels at the helm and both Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler in the backfield, Washington rushed for 2,619 yards and 25 scores in 2024, with Biadasz leading the blocking effort. Only the Eagles and Ravens totaled more yardage on the ground. Here's PFF's take on the veteran: "Biadasz, in his first year with the Commanders, started off the 2024 season on a high note. Through the first nine games, his 79.3 PFF pass-blocking grade charted as the second-highest mark at the position. While that momentum faded as the season went on, and as Biadasz dealt with injury and illness, he still managed to finish with solid marks as a run blocker and a pass protector." Fresh off his first season with the Indianapolis Colts, Tanor Bortolini earned the No. 30 designation on the annual ranking. The Wisconsin product started in five of 12 total appearances for the Colts, largely contributing due to injuries at the position. Nonetheless, PFF's staff did not ignore the impression he made. "With the injuries to Ryan Kelly this past season, it was Bortolini and veteran Danny Pinter who stepped in to shoulder the load. Both are expected to compete for the starting job this summer. Bortolini showed a bit more of a well-rounded game in his first year as a pro, albeit on a limited sample. He produced a 64.0-plus PFF grade as both a run blocker and a pass protector, which may bode well for his chances of taking control of the starting job in 2025." As of June 6, all three players are poised to start for their respective franchises this coming season. The Colts, Jets and Commanders all kick-start their 2025 seasons on Sept. 7. Music fans likely all rushed to their devices on Friday, as Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil Wayne released what was the sixth of "Tha Carter" series. His 19-track album titled "Tha Carter VI" features from notable artists such as BigXthaPlug, MGK, Kodak Black and 2 Chainz among many others. The New Orleans rapper who many felt was snubbed from performing at this past year's Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs in the Big Easy has always been known for being a lyrical genius. While he's a New Orleans native and a well-known Green Bay Packers fan, Wheezy shouted-out Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay in one of his new songs, "Welcome to Tha Carter." Shortly after name-dropping former NBA star Metta Sandiford-Artest formerly known as Metta World Peace and Ron Artest, Wayne threw in McVay's name while alluding to one of his (Wayne's) personal favorite hobbies. "Smokin' that bomb L.A. like I'm McVay," said Wayne. Aside from being a music icon, Wayne is a huge sports junkie. He has made appearances on ESPN's "First Take," Fox's "Undisputed," and even won an episode of the iconic ESPN show "Around the Horn." As for McVay and the Rams, they came up a couple of plays short of playing in the Super Bowl this past season, and are hoping that with a new addition like All-Pro receiver Davante Adams, they can rectify their shortcomings in 2025. While McVay is likely appreciative of the bar from Wayne, he is also presumably focused on the team's upcoming minicamp in Maui. Advertisement While the four-time MVP has some work to do to drain out the many sorrows that plagued his time with the New York Jets over the last two seasons, Rodgers will forever be remembered as one of the greatest talents and most accomplished players of his generation. Most of that storied lore comes from his time with the Green Bay Packers, having been the team for his first 18 seasons. Now that Rodgers has officially joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, there is one game on the upcoming calendar that the star QB likely has circled in red: Week 8, when the Packers come to town. "A-Rod" has beaten all 31 other teams at least once as an opposition - Green Bay being the only exception. Advertisement Only four players have ever beaten all 32 NFL teams at least once throughout their career: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Drew Brees. Rodgers could be next, but regardless of the outcome of the game, it is sure to be an emotional one. It will mark the first time Rodgers has ever played against the franchise that he became a star with. "There's a lot of love for me and how I feel about the team," Rodgers said about the Packers in a podcast appearance. He was asked about the possibility, whenever the 41 year old decides to call it a career, if he would ever sign a one-day contract to officially retire as a Packer. While his response was very Rodgers-esque in it's dry nature, it appears the future Hall of Famer still has some appreciation for the organization. Advertisement 'If I do or don't retire as a Packer, I don't think it should make a difference. I'm not sure yet. If they approached me about it, I probably would." During his 15 years as the Packers' starting quarterback after taking over for Favre in 2008, Rodgers won four regular season MVPs, Super Bowl XLV MVP, earned four First-Team All-Pro honors, and was selected to ten Pro Bowls. The Steelers' Week 8 matchup with the Packers will take place in Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Oct. 26 and be broadcasted live on Sunday Night Football.
