Revealed: How Leroy Sane's wife, Candice, could be key to Bayern Munich star's future as his agent 'holds talks with THREE Premier League clubs'

Daily Mail27-05-2025

Leroy Sane has moved to London with his Bayern Munich contract set to expire this summer, putting clubs in the English capital on red alert over a possible move.
Sane, 29, who relocated to be with his wife, Candice, has reportedly had his agent Pini Zahavi speak to Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham over a potential Premier League switch.
German publication BILD claims that Zahavi is travelling to Munich this week for negotiations over the winger's future.
Bayern are said to be insistent on not wanting to increase their current offering to Sane, which is made up of a fixed salary of €10million (£8.3million), plus a variable bonus of €5.5million (£4.6million).
However, key figures within the club, including sporting director Max Eberl, are said to be willing to pay that sum in order to keep him on their books.
As a result, Bayern are thought to be considering increasing his fixed salary up to €13 million (£10.9million) and reducing the bonuses accordingly.
While Premier League sides are reportedly keen on landing Sane, Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray have also tabled an offer worth €10million per year to Sane.
The German winger will have to make a decision over a potential new destination quickly, with Bayern wanting his future resolved prior to Bayern the club's departure for the Club World Cup on June 10.
Sane was an integral part of Manchester City's 'Centurions' team in 2017-18 before he helped the club to win a domestic treble - including a second successive Premier League title - the following campaign.
However, he endured a fraught end to his time in Manchester after suffering a torn ACL before joining Bayern in the summer of 2020.
He has found form once again in Bavaria this season, scoring ten goals to help Bayern regain the Bundesliga title.

Liverpool issue hands-off warning to Barcelona after Reds star is pursued by Spanish giants... but are braced for offers from Saudi Arabia

Liverpool have issued a hands-off warning to Barcelona after the Spanish champions tried to sign Luis Diaz — but the club are braced for more interest from Saudi Arabia. Catalan club Barca asked Liverpool if they would do business and were swiftly told he was not for sale, after Mail Sport reported their strong interest in our Liverpool Confidential column two months ago. But Liverpool are not actively looking to sell Diaz, 28, who yesterday said he was perfectly happy at Anfield. Talking while on international duty with Colombia, the winger said: 'We (Diaz and his camp) are waiting to arrange what is best for us. If Liverpool offers us a really good renewal or since I have two years left on my contract I will definitely stay there happy and content.' It is understood Liverpool see the matter as closed, although Saudi club Al Nassr are lurking in the background and could make a play in the coming weeks. Manchester City considered attempting to sign him last summer. There are no plans at Anfield to open new contract talks with Diaz, whose current deal takes him into his 30s. He joined from Porto in January 2022 and scored 17 goals this season. Barcelona are a particularly enticing prospect for South American players and several players such as Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, and Xavier Mascherano have moved from Anfield. Diaz scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 50 appearances as Liverpool won their second ever Premier League title last month. Meanwhile, his partner Gera Ponce posted an emotional message on Instagram which some fans had taken as a farewell message. On the other hand, it could just be interpreted as them insisting on their love for the club. 'From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club,' she wrote. 'We knew the slogan was "You'll Never Walk Alone", but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support us every moment and show such unconditional love... confirmed to us that here you never walk alone. 'This fan doesn't just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls. 'Thank you for so much love, for so much dedication and for making us feel at home. Being part of this fan(base) is a privilege. There's no doubt: they're the best in the world. 'This is a real bond, deep and strong, that reaffirms that we'll never walk alone'. Speaking to Telemundo last month Diaz insisted he was happy at Anfield and relaxed about his contract situation. 'Yes, happy. From the first day I arrived, I've always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team. 'We'll be talking about it, we'll talk about it (about the renewal). For me, I would stay however many years it takes, it also depends on the club, everything. 'These are details that are sorted out separately. Very calm, I'm happy and enjoying the Premier League.'

Coco Gauff battles Lois Boisson and home crowd to reach French Open final

Coco Gauff said she had to block out the home support as she beat French wildcard Lois Boisson to reach the final at Roland-Garros on Thursday. Boisson, the world No 361, sent shockwaves around the tournament by becoming the first wildcard to reach the semi-finals, and a notoriously fierce crowd can be a challenge even for the most seasoned players, but Gauff came prepared. 'This is my first time playing a French player here. I was mentally prepared that it was to be 99% for her so I was trying to block it out,' said Gauff. Addressing the crowd, she added: 'When you were saying her name, I was saying my name to myself just to psyche myself.' Boisson knocked out third seed Jessica Pegula and sixth-ranked Mirra Andreeva on her way to the semi-final. But world No 2 Gauff eased to a composed 6-1, 6-2 victory to set up a showdown with Aryna Sabalenka in the final. Boisson looked like she had finally run out of energy against Gauff. But the American paid tribute to her 22-year-old opponent, who she believes can compete at the top of the sport going forward. 'Lois is an incredible player and for her to have the tournament she's had, she's shown she's one of the best players in the world,' said Gauff. 'I hope we have many more battles in the future, especially here, Today it was just my day.' Gauff, who can become the first American since Serena Williams in 2015 to lift the Suzanne Lenglen Cup, clearly shifted up a gear after beating compatriot Madison Keys in an error-strewn quarter-final on Wednesday. Her forehand was solid again, her backhand mesmerizing at times and she served consistently throughout. Boisson, on the other hand, made an unusual number of unforced errors as her opponent repeatedly forced her to go for the extra shot. Gauff raced to a 4-0 lead under the Court Philippe Chatrier roof and never looked back, breaking to love at 3-2 in the second set right after Boisson broke her serve for the first time. The American was on an eight-point winning streak and at the change of ends at 5-2, Boisson placed her towel over her head and hit herself in frustration. 'It's always the plan to start strong,' said Gauff. 'I knew it was important today. She's an incredible player, she proved to be one of the best players in the world, especially on clay. I'm sure we'll have more battles in the future.' The first Frenchwoman to reach the last four at Roland Garros since Marion Bartoli in 2011, Boisson bowed out when she sent yet another forehand long. She does have some consolation though: she will rocket up the rankings and has earned $789,000 for her run to the semi-finals, eclipsing her previous career earnings of $148,000.
