Lizzo shares how she lost weight and shuts down Ozempic drug rumors: ‘Find out what works for you'
The singer and flutist hopped on Instagram Live to break down how she lost weight and what she does to ensure she focuses on herself.
Lizzo, the singer and flutist behind Billboard chart-toppers like 'Truth Hurts' and 'About Damn Time,' has shared a lot with the public about her journey in music and life. One life journey that the public has been specifically interested in is Lizzo's weight loss journey. After hitting the music scene and not allowing her weight and people's negative perceptions of it to be an obstacle to her success, the singer went through a major transformation. This year Lizzo began to show tremendous weight loss, leading the general public to assume she was using popular and trendy weight loss drugs like Ozempic. The singer famously, and hilariously, dressed up like a box of Ozempic for Halloween in the midst of the rumors.
According to Page Six, in an Instagram Live on Tuesday, April 22, Lizzo denied using drugs like Ozempic or Mounjaro, instead sharing with her fans about how she worked off the weight the old-fashioned way, 'calories in versus calories out.'
'If I do something sweet, it's gotta be with some sort of, like, carb. I'll have, like, almond butter and toast. So, everybody's body is different. Find out what works for you,' shared the 'Good As Hell' songstress.
Lizzo also shared that she realized how many calories she was taking in a day by consuming drinks from places like Starbucks, which forced her to start counting calories, something she acknowledged isn't always the most healthy practice.
Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, also noted how managing her anxiety and mental health has had a positive impact on her weight loss journey.
'I've been working to get my anxiety under control for years. And then I decided that I want to release and I'm ready to stop waiting to be myself, like, fully and be happy, And I meditated. I calmed myself down. And I isolated a little bit — but not, like, made myself lonely, not the way I used to when I was depressed. I isolated myself in a mindful way where I had no distractions,' a decision made because Lizzo also claims she was prone to distracting herself with less than stellar behaviors like food, alcohol, and people.
Ultimately, Lizzo said her weight loss journey, which has allowed her to lose nearly 16 percent of her body fat, was about taking stock of what she was putting into her body and dedicating herself to herself.
'I just focused on me.'

'A lot of kids grew up, parents used drugs and parents in jail and all that — the fact that I had my father, a real leader in my household, and working and always kept me focused on the right things,' Joe said of his relationship with his father. 'Kiss reflected on the importance of helping reintegrate those who were incarcerated back into productive members of society. 'Just hitting that switch to let them know that they can come back and get right due to whatever hardships they went through,' Jada said. 'There's some hope now when you come back to get readjusted. Hopefully change your financial situation.' Joe also implored fathers who have fractured relationships with their kids to reconnect. 'Reconnect with your kids because sometimes kids can get bitter their parents were away in jail,' Joe added. 'You gotta find that bond. It's always there, but you gotta find that red tape to get in sync.' He continued: 'Start now. Forget if you messed up the last 10, 20, 30 years. Start now to be a productive father and get your relationship with your kids. … On New Year's everyone want to lose weight; I think Father's Day should be an adjustment with you and your kids.' Joe and Jadakiss hosted the event in collaboration with Sei Less co-founder Dara Mirjahangiry and the REFORM Alliance, ensuring that this Father's Day these families had something to celebrate. 'Working with Fat Joe, Jadakiss and REFORM to celebrate these fathers at Sei Less was truly special,' Mirjahangiry said. Inside Manuel Turizo's 201 World Tour: ‘We're Going to Create Chaos'
Manuel Turizo officially hits the road on Wednesday (June 11), taking his 201 World Tour to Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. The CMN and La Industria Inc-produced stint is in support of his latest studio album 201, which is an homage to the apartment number where he grew up in Montería, and 'represents all those dreams I had since I was a child, all those young desires,' he previously told Billboard. 'I was thinking about how to connect Manuel Turizo as a performer with where he comes from and where all these inspirations or all these stories a person lives originate,' he tells Billboard in an exclusive interview at his Miami home. 'All of that happens in my house. In [apartment] 201 there were heartbreaks, there were loves, drunken parties with friends, with family—all the stories are there. All the songs are born there, all the ideas are born there. I wanted to tell it in the same way and bring that 201 to the 70 cities where I'm touring.' He reveals that the stage is inspired by his childhood living room back in Colombia: '201 tour is basically Manuel Turizo's apartment that we're going to fill with people and create chaos,' he elaborates. While on tour, the Colombian artist will visit other Latin American countries like Chile, Costa Rica and Argentina, before launching the North American leg of the trek on Aug. 21 in Chicago. After visiting major markets like New York, Miami and Los Angeles along the way, he will return to Latin America to wrap up, with the last date on Dec. 6 in Guatemala.
