There aren't enough superlatives to describe how Aaron Judge is playing for the New York Yankees this season. The superstar slugger leads baseball with a .394 batting average and a 1.269 OPS, and he's also second with 25 homers and 59 RBI through 66 games.

The next-closest player in batting average is Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson at .366, and Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is second with a 1.008 OPS. Judge also tops baseball with 98 hits and is second only to Ohtani with 64 runs scored. The latter player has 68.
While Judge is out of the lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals, Yankees fans were still treated to an ESPN article about him from Wright Thompson. Among other things, this article revealed an exchange between Judge and former Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo two years ago.
Rizzo played four seasons for the Yankees, including last season when he was on their World Series roster. The Yankees came up short to the Los Angeles Dodgers, losing in five games.

Fans have been reacting to this message from Judge.
"Aaron Judge unironically just called his own career a failure," one stated.
"Rizzo winning a ring with Chicago before being told this by Judge makes it extra funny," said another.
"That is NOT the 'Yankee way' anymore," one added.
"Been a whole lot of failing in the Bronx over the last 20 years then!" one wrote.
"They've been saying this the whole Judge window...Get it done!!!" added another.

Judge has hit homers in three straight games, including a two-homer outing in Sunday's 11-7 loss to the Boston Red Sox. The 33-year-old is slashing .364/.488/.788 with four homers and nine RBI over nine contests in June.

New York has won two straight games and is 6-4 over its last 10. The club is four games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays for first place in the AL East. The Yankees will clinch a series sweep of the Royals if they win on Thursday night. Right-handed pitcher Will Warren (4-3, 5.34 ERA) will start for them.

Aces star A'ja Wilson in concussion protocol and out for Friday's game against the Wings

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson is in concussion protocol and will miss Friday night's home game against the Dallas Wings. The three-time WNBA MVP was injured in Wednesday's 97-89 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. Wilson also could miss Sunday's home game against Phoenix. The Aces then play at Minnesota on Tuesday before returning to Las Vegas to face Seattle on June 20 and open a four-game homestand. The loss of Wilson deprives what would have been a marquee matchup between the reigning MVP and this year's top WNBA draft pick in Dallas' Paige Bueckers, who this week also returned from a concussion as well as an illness. Wilson averages 20.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists this season. ___ AP WNBA:

Liberty's Breanna Stewart speaks up about 9-0 Lynx

The post Liberty's Breanna Stewart speaks up about 9-0 Lynx appeared first on ClutchPoints. The New York Liberty are rolling. After an 85-66 win over the Chicago Sky at Barclays Center, the Liberty have pushed their unbeaten streak to a flawless 9 and 0. Advertisement But as much as the Liberty are dominating, Breanna Stewart knows they are not alone at the top. When asked about the Minnesota Lynx matching their perfect start, Stewart smiled and kept it honest. 'It's human nature just wondering who's kinda at the top of the standings,' she said after an all-around performance of 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists against the Sky. Her words capture the silent tension building between two of the hottest teams in the WNBA. For now, both New York and Minnesota sit side by side as the only teams still undefeated. The Liberty's latest win over Chicago was another example of how deep and balanced this squad has become. Following Stewart closely in the charge was Sabrina Ionescu, dropping 23 points while dishing out seven assists of her own. The Liberty wasted no time taking control, making a 17-0 run in the third and never looking back. Advertisement With this victory, New York joins an elite list as only the ninth team in league history to open a season 9-0. The offense has been clicking on all cylinders while the defense continues to suffocate opponents. Chicago struggled all night to find any rhythm against New York's pressure. Even with Angel Reese posting a double-double, the Sky could not close the gap. On the other side of the league, Minnesota continues to match New York win for win. The Lynx recently took care of business against Dallas, led by Napheesa Collier's 28 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams now stare each other down from a distance, knowing a collision course may be inevitable. Stewart's acknowledgment of the standings shows she feels that growing energy. She understands what is building. Every win adds to the pressure. Every perfect record fuels the conversation. Both teams are not just winning, they are dominating. The Liberty has already picked up several blowout victories this season, while the Lynx continue to impose their will defensively. As the Liberty turn their attention to the Commissioner's Cup, their unbeaten run in both the regular season and the Cup only adds fuel to the fire. For now, Stewart and the Liberty are enjoying their place at the top. But everyone knows this quiet battle with the Lynx is far from over. The real fireworks may be just around the corner. Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu torches Sky with historic stat line

The post Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu torches Sky with historic stat line appeared first on ClutchPoints. New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu put up a historic stat line in her team's 85-66 win over the Chicago Sky. The defending champions continue to look like the favorites in 2025 and are slowly marching toward history. New York is now 9-0 and only five wins away from the best start ever in the WNBA. And many of these victories have been lopsided, such as the one Tuesday night. Advertisement Ionescu led the charge in this game, posting an unprecedented stat line for the Liberty. StatMuse summed up over social media what the three-time All-Star accomplished with her performance against the Sky. Even with reigning Finals MVP Jonquel Jones out, the Liberty continue to roll. Along with Ionescu, Breanna Stewart dropped an efficient 18 points while Kennedy Burke put up 15 off the bench. This year's squad ultimately has more depth and defensive versatility than last year's and can afford for one of its stars to be out for a bit. New York still leads the league in offensive and defensive ratings through these first nine games, with the offseason trade for Natasha Cloud paying off in spades. This roster is clicking on all cylinders right now with its core squarely in its prime. Looking ahead, the Liberty would only meet the Lynx before their scheduled game on July 30 in the WNBA Commissioner's Cup. The final for that tournament would be on July 1. Until then, there are some formidable matchups against the Atlanta Dream looming, who have quietly gotten off to an encouraging start. The Indiana Fever are also expected to be a contender once they get back to full health and gave the Liberty their biggest scare so far this young season. Advertisement Overall, it's a good time to be a fan of this franchise. New York just needs to keep plugging away and know there is a looming threat in Minnesota keeping pace. But we're a long way from the playoffs, and several teams still have realistic chances of getting in the way of a finals rematch.
