Benjamin Sesko's agent moves to 'clarify a few things' amid Arsenal 'agreement'
Slovenia and RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is one of the most in-demand strikers this summer and his agent has spoken about the future of the Arsenal-linked frontman
Benjamin Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has denied putting any pressure on RB Leipzig to lower their asking price for the striker. Sesko is understood to have agreed personal terms with Premier League side Arsenal, but the Gunners still have work to do.
Leipzig are prepared to sell Sesko after missing out on Champions League qualification, but only if they receive a hefty fee - thought to be north of £60million. Basanovic believes all will become clear in due course, but moved to "clarify" the situation and insisted he wouldn't push for a lower fee out of respect for the Bundesliga side.
'This is far from truth!" he told Givemesport when asked about rumours of leaning on Leipzig over their asking price "We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100% convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it."
He addedL "Even if there may be - or will be - a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig. I believe this is not the right way, because the way you actually exit from the club shows your values. Values that you are bringing into a new club.
"I can understand in very big transfers, there are a lot of different interests but no matter what, I believe in football world should be more respect. So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It's very simple, even maybe in the media it looks very complicated."
Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last season, with 13 of those coming in the Bundesliga. That was enough for him to finish the season as his team's top scorer, but a late-season collapse saw their European hopes go up in smoke.
With five games to go, Leipzig sat in the fourth and final Champions League qualification place. They won none of those last five, though, and that saw them miss out on European qualification altogether.
Sesko was linked with an Arsenal switch in the summer of 2024 as well, only to instead sign a new contract at his current club. That deal runs until 2029, though he could yet leave sooner.
"We have a team with great potential and a balanced mix of young and experienced players. I'm really looking forward to taking the next steps with this team," Sesko said when his extension was confirmed.
"We've already achieved a lot in my first season and often shown the amount of quality and outstanding football we can bring to the pitch. But there's still a lot more to be done and that's now our common goal."

Brighton and Crystal Palace have both proven to be the spoiler in recent years however. The Seagulls earned a 2-1 in 2022, while the Eagles came away 3-1 victors in 2020. And while United have enjoyed a consistent run of home matches to start their season, it means local rivals Manchester City have been dealt the opposite hand. The duo cannot play at home on the same weekend and are paired together to avoid a clash, much like Liverpool and Everton. That is to prevent the overburdening of policing and travel resources. Even outside of such pairings, the Premier League fixture selection is designed to avoid having clubs from the same area travelling on the same train lines across the Football League and the Premier League to avoid 'pinch points' on rail and road networks. City have managed the task of being on the road in the opening fixture pretty well, however. Only Tottenham, under Nuno Espirito Santo, have claimed victory against the Citizens with wins coming against Chelsea, Burnley, West Ham, Wolves, Arsenal, Brighton. The eight-times Premier League champions last played at home on the opening day against Sunderland in 2016. That day saw a late Paddy McNair own-goal earn a City victory after goals from Sergio Aguero and Jermain Defoe. United's last away trip on the first weekend of the season, also saw three points for a Manchester side. Goals from Marcus Rashford, Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young secured a 3-1 win over Bournemouth 3-1 as Chris Smalling netted an own-goal. Despite the benefit of being able to play their first game at home, United have been deemed to have the most difficult start in the Premier League. Games against Fulham, Burnley, Manchester City and Chelsea follow the Arsenal clash, with a trip to Liverpool scheduled in October.

Thomas Frank calls for unity at Tottenham after replacing Ange Postecoglou
Speaking for the first time since replacing Ange Postecoglou – who was sacked just weeks after delivering Spurs their first trophy in 17 years – the former Brentford boss said there would need to be 'alignment' among the club's hierarchy, including with chairman Daniel Levy, if the team is to build on their Europa League triumph. 'If you want to do something quick, you can go alone,' said Frank, who led Brentford to 10th place last season following finishes of 13th, ninth and 16th in their three previous Premier League seasons. He also brought them into the top flight via the play-offs in 2021. 'If you want to do something big or achieve something big, you go together. So, it's definitely about doing things together – me, the staff, the players. 'I think alignment is key, from top to bottom. Of course it starts from Daniel, Vinai, Johan, and me, and the more the four of us can be aligned, just like a unit, an unbreakable unit, the stronger we'll be. 'There'll be ups and downs. Right now, it's a fairytale. Everyone's happy, the sun is shining, it's fantastic.'
