Yahoo2 days ago
Aston Villa have confirmed that their upcoming Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace will now take place on Sunday, August 31, with a 7 pm kick-off at Villa Park.
The match, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 30, has been brought forward by one day to accommodate Palace's participation in the UEFA Conference League play-off second leg, due to take place on Thursday, August 28.
Palace were originally set to participate in the 2025/26 Europa League before their Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) appeal over breaching multi-club ownership rules was turned down on Monday.
Villa and the Eagles met four times last season, with the South Londoners winning three of the encounters, including April's FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley.

Arsenal learn u18 Premier League Cup group stage draw

The Arsenal u18s have learned their group stage draw for the u18 Premier League Cup in 2025/26, with the competition kicking off this month. Photo via Arsenal have confirmed that they're due to face Peterborough United, Stoke City, and Norwich City in this season's u18 Premier League Cup group stage, playing Peterborough at home and the other two games away. The group stage is always competitive, with only the top team guaranteed a spot in the knockouts. Unless you win all three matches, qualification can end up out of your hands. The competition kicks off in August, with Arsenal hosting Peterborough on Tuesday, August 26th. The young Gunners will then travel to Stoke on Saturday, October 4th, before wrapping up the group stage away to Norwich on Saturday, November 22nd. The u16 Premier League Cup mirrors the u18 competition, so they'll play the same group stage matches. Photo via The u18 draw follows the recent u17 Premier League Cup draw, with the Arsenal u17s receiving matches against Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Watford. The u17 group will hope for another successful year, stepping up to this level having won the u16 Premier League Cup last season. The young Gunners triumphed with a 3-1 win over Chelsea in the final thanks to goals from Kyran Thompson, Josiah King, and Marley Frohock. Wolves vs Manchester City Preview and Team News Ahead of Molineux Clash

Manchester City Begin Title Push with Trip to Wolves Manchester City open their 2025-26 Premier League campaign with a challenging visit to Molineux on Saturday evening. Pep Guardiola's side arrive with fresh faces in the squad and renewed ambition after an inconsistent 2024-25 season, aiming to start strongly in their pursuit of a seventh league crown in nine years. Wolves, under Vitor Pereira, will be keen to prove they can adapt quickly to significant summer changes, particularly the departure of Matheus Cunha. The arrival of Colombian playmaker Jhon Arias offers hope of fresh creativity, while the team looks to improve on a winless pre-season. Photo IMAGO Match Details and Broadcast Information Wolves vs Manchester City kicks off at 5:30pm BST on Saturday, 16 August 2025, at Molineux Stadium. In the UK, the match will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League, and Sky Ultra HD. Subscribers can stream the game online through the Sky Go app and website, ensuring full coverage for supporters unable to attend in person. Team News and Key Selections Wolves could hand competitive debuts to several new signings. Defender Yerson Mosquera is returning from a long-term knee injury and may be eased back into action. Colombian international Arias is expected to start after an outstanding Club World Cup with Fluminense, where he created more chances than any other player. David Moller Wolfe may line up at left wing-back, while Jorgen Strand Larsen is set to lead the attack. Photo IMAGO Manchester City face early injury concerns. Rodri, the Ballon d'Or-winning midfielder, is a doubt due to a groin injury, while Claudio Echeverri and Phil Foden are recovering from ankle issues. Mateo Kovacic could also miss out. Summer signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki are in contention for their Premier League debuts. Erling Haaland will spearhead the attack, having been the only player to feature in both halves against Palermo in pre-season. Ederson is expected to start in goal despite transfer links to Galatasaray. Former Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri is likely to feature at left-back against his old club, with Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes competing for the opposite full-back role. Youngster Nico O'Reilly offers further versatility across defence and midfield. Photo: IMAGO Prediction and Tactical Outlook City's relatively short pre-season and patchy away form last season add intrigue to this fixture. Guardiola's team won both league meetings against Wolves last season, each by a single goal, but were pushed hard in both encounters. Wolves' summer has been marked by change, with key departures in Cunha, Ait-Nouri and captain Nelson Semedo. Pereira's side also failed to register a victory in six pre-season friendlies, raising questions over attacking cohesion. Given the strength in depth available to City, and the likelihood of Haaland leading the line, the visitors should have enough quality to claim the points, though Wolves may make it a competitive contest in front of their home crowd. Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Manchester City

BBC: ‘Offer made' – Man United currently mulling over fresh transfer proposal for £250k-a-week player

Manchester United have received an offer from AS Roma for Jadon Sancho, with the outcast forward expected to leave the club before the end of the month. The Red Devils have been desperate to get Sancho off their books once and for all since the window opened back in June, but are still seeking suitors to try and facilitate a deal. At the end of 2024/2025, Chelsea decided that the 25-year-old had not done enough throughout his season-long loan to warrant them honouring his £25 million buy obligation. Instead, they forked out £5 million to send him back to Manchester, where he instantly formed one fifth of United's outcast quintet. Marcus Rashford sealed his desired switch to Barcelona in July, leaving Sancho, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia as the remaining members of the 'bomb squad' at Carrington. It's thought that each of the players has already played their final games for United. Jadon Sancho: A fall from grace Sancho last played for United in August 2024 in the Community Shield Final. (Photo by) Sancho's substandard showings over the last four years mean he's no longer a man in demand the way he used to be. Around the time he swapped the Signal Iduna Park for Old Trafford, he was one of the hottest attacking prospects in world football, prompting United to shell out a whopping £73m to prise him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. Now, after recording just 12 goals and six assists in 83 appearances for the Reds, Sancho finds himself at a stagnant point in his career – when he should, realistically, just be entering his prime. Sancho offered Serie A exit route With no Premier League outfits willing to take a punt on the former Manchester City academy star, Sancho looks poised to ply his trade in an all-new environment in the form of Serie A. BBC Sport claims (via Match of the Day) that Roma have 'made an offer' for Sancho this week and are awaiting a response from United. Juventus retain their interest in signing the Englishman, but they are prioritising the arrival of Ademola Lookman.
