We asked for your views on Kilmarnock's 2-1 win against Dundee United in the Scottish League Cup.Here's what some of you said: Robert: Good to see Killie play some really nice football, unfortunately some slack passing cost us a Dundee United goal. However the boys didn't buckle and got the win. As the season progresses I'm sure our touches and control will improve.Amy: A great result and a deserved one at that. Thought Brad Lyons, Marcus Dackers and Ethan Schilte-Brown were excellent and for the latter to go from Dumbarton to strolling it against Hibs and Dundee United says a lot. Derek McInnes' "Gorgie Revolution" stumbles and despite the mess he left we are still in the cup. Beautiful.Neil: Ground out an ultimately deserved win under the merciless Ayrshire sun. Lots of decent performances and eventually comfortable enough. We are still short of a couple of players but roll on St Mirren in the quarter-finals.David: We just edged it I think and the way Stuart Kettlewell changed it to force United into long balls into the box was clever. We stood firm and headed everything clear.William: Win, lose, or draw this season scoring goals in every game should be Killie's focus. That should provide the mindset for greater achievements. So far very positive.Tom: A deserved victory for Killie, over the piece we were the better team. Great first goal by Dackers and great assist from young Ben Brannan who is proving to be a find from the Academy. Bring on the Buddies.

Friendship on hold as managers vie for Champions League spot

Club Brugge head coach Nicky Hayen says he has a "good connection" with Rangers counterpart Russell Martin. But any friendship is likely to be put on hold during their forthcoming Champions League play-off sides meet at Ibrox on Tuesday night in the first leg with the return the following Wednesday in Belgium."I like Russell very much," Hayen, 45, told BBC Scotland. "I was in Haverfordwest County when he was in Swansea. We met each other because of Gary Richards (his former assistant at Haverfordwest who previously worked at Swansea).""I wanted to visit Swansea for two days. He allowed it. But we never found the right date. The year after, we arranged a friendly game between the two teams. The game was scheduled. Then I left the club to come to Brugge."Hayen revealed the pair exchanged regular text messages, although they actually only met in person for the first time when Brugge played Rangers this summer in a friendly at Ibrox."We spoke a lot," said Hayen. "We texted a lot. We stayed always in touch. But of course, tomorrow this doesn't count."He's a great manager. If you see the results that he got in Swansea and Southampton. It's a nice step for him over here. Of course, there's a lot of pressure. But I'm sure that he will deal with it."Club Brugge beat Salzburg to reach the play-off round. And, after making it to the round of 16 in last season's competition, Hayen is keen to progress to the league phase again this term."The team who is the best in keeping the ball, progressing, use the spaces, they will have a good chance to win the game," added Hayen.

Former Rangers star reaches out to Russell Martin to explain after tactics criticism ‘taken out of context'

Halliday, a pundit on the Open Goal podcast, gave a detailed analysis of why he thought Rangers struggled to break down Dundee in their 1-1 draw at Ibrox. The two-minute clip went viral on social media, but Halliday says he was "livid" as they had been speaking before about why they think Martin is going to get it right. In the viral clip, Halliday said: "This is Rangers against Dundee. Dundee played a 5-4-1, compact, really narrow, really tight, really deep. "Rangers were building with a flat back four and Rothwell so straightaway those five are out of the game because they are all in front. "You've got five attacking 11 players so how are you going to create chances and score goals when you're five v 11? "If you did 5 v 11 against kids in training you would struggle to score. "And do you know what they keep doing because there's nothing else on? They play a straight pass into Dessers and there is ****** nobody in the middle of the pitch." Martin responded to the comments at last Friday's press conference. He said: "We're cool. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. 'I like Andy, I regard him as a really good ex teammate and a person and I like him. Rangers Tribute Pub Vandalised in Violent Attack: Community Stands Strong "I'm sure at some point we'll have a coffee in the West End and we'll sit down and discuss how he wants to coach at some point. 'When you work in the media you have to give an opinion, right? 'So I have absolutely no problem with it at all. 'Although I never said we'd play with inverted full-backs so I have told him that.' Halliday, an ex-team-mate of Russell Martin's feels his comments were taken out of context as they had been saying previously how they felt he was going to get it right. Rangers have struggled so far this season dropping four points in the Premiership and an unconvincing performance in a 4-2 win over Alloa in the Premier Sports Cup. 4 He was asked about the reaction to the video on Monday. Andy Halliday told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "I was very shocked to see a certain headline on Thursday morning. "In all seriousness, I've always really enjoyed doing the media side of it and I've always said I will be open and honest. "But I'll never personally attack individuals, so I was very disappointed to read a headline that was completely taken out of context. "Thankfully, I had a chat with the Rangers manager and the Motherwell manager and they both understood and all is good. "I've had lots of phone calls and a few certain people are off the Christmas card list. "Obviously he's an ex-team-mate of mine which I've kept in contact for a while now, when I first saw the headline I made sure I reached out to him to explain the situation. "His response was... I'm not sure what I thought it was but certainly what I hoped it was. "It was something that was taken out of context and he's taken it very well. Andy Halliday 'livid' at response to Rangers criticism

Appearing on Open Goal, the Motherwell midfielder went through Russell Martin's set-up from his side's 1-1 draw with Dundee. In that show, Halliday said: 'Dundee played a 5-4-1, really compact, really tight, really deep and narrow. Rangers went with a flat back four and they had five players attacking eleven players. How are you going to create chances and score goals if you're five v eleven? 'You would struggle to score against kids in training if you were five v eleven. And do you know what they keep doing because there's nothing else on? They play a straight pass into Cyriel Dessers and when they lose the ball there's f***** nobody in the middle of the pitch. 'People talk about Rangers having inverted full backs but that's a pure myth.' This led to some media outlets claiming Halliday told Martin that he didn't know what he was doing. Martin responded on Friday afternoon, where he cooled any talk around the subject by saying he and Halliday would chat it over a coffee in Glasgow's west end. Now, Halliday has reacted to the clip that went viral last week. He said: "On Thursday morning I was genuinely livid. I didn't know whether my head was gone or whether I was angry. I didn't know where I was. "Just how blown out of context it was, it was mental man. "He [Martin] could've just seen it on social media and not even watched the clip, and believed that I said 'What you doing, Russ?' Read more: "Then 'Halliday lambasts Russell Martin's tactics,' after we'd been saying for 15 minutes I think he's going to get it right. I mean f*****g hell man. "Even after calming down, I say calming down, after a few phone calls and finding out what's what, I'd still not heard back from him because they're obviously training. "I just wanted to make sure that either he'd seen the full thing or he's not taken it the wrong way. "His response meant that we could then laugh and joke about it."
