The Lionesses are set to be lavished with nominations in the new year honours list following their historic European Championship victory.
Sarina Wiegman's squad were widely honoured after winning the European title for the first time three years ago.
Captain Leah Williamson was named as an OBE, while Lucy Bronze, Beth Mead and Ellen White received MBEs.
Stand-in captain Millie Bright was also awarded an OBE, and Mary Earps and Lauren Hemp got MBEs, after England reached the World Cup final 12 months later.

Kelly missed out in 2022 despite scoring England's match-winning goal in their extra-time win over Germany in the final at Wembley.
But that oversight that is expected to be corrected by Downing Street in the next honour list, according to The Guardian.
The nomination process for honours is managed by the Cabinet Office, with Kelly and Hampton regarded as shoo-ins for the way they have thrilled a nation.
And Sunday's triumph over Spain wasn't the first time the pair have saved England over the last month.

Kelly came off the bench again to change the game against Spain by assisting Alessia Russo's equaliser and then scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout.
In the semi-final against Italy, the Arsenal winger scored England's winner in the last minute of extra time winner from a penalty rebound.
'This is the most chaotic and ridiculous tournament we have played' says Sarina Wiegman
And it doesn't stop there, with Kelly coming off the bench to save England from losing 2-0 against Sweden in the quarter-finals.
With her first touch of the ball, the former Manchester City forward swung in a delicious assist for Lucy Bronze to head home, before providing another cross for Michelle Agyemang's leveller.
After sending the tie to extra-time, Kelly was one of three England players to score their penalties in the shootout against Sweden.
Meanwhile, Chelsea keeper Hampton, 24, again saved two penalties against Sweden.
Williamson's OBE may also be upgraded to a CBE as recognition for the Arsenal defender becoming the first footballer to lead England to successive major titles, as well as becoming the first captain to lift a major trophy on foreign soil.
The 28-year-old missed the 2023 World Cup after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury three months before the tournament.
Wiegman was awarded an honorary CBE after England's first European Championship win – she is a Dutch citizen – which is now expected to be upgraded to an honorary damehood.
The 55-year-old has two years left on her contract with the FA with no immediate plans to discuss an extension as she has already committed to leading England to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
Much-loved pundit Jill Scott was rewarded with MBE in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to women's football.
The England team flew home from Zurich on Monday afternoon and are expected to be welcomed to Downing Street.
Fans were warned not to travel to the airport to greet their heroes, due to travel chaos.
Hosted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Sports Minister, the victorious side will be welcomed alongside coaches and representatives from the Football Association.
An open-top bus victory parade will then kick off on Tuesday in London.

Why football can help teen girls win on and off the pitch

Watching the Lionesses at this summer's Euros, one thing is obvious: the camaraderie. These women have a genuine bond; they're friends who work together towards a common goal. It's inspiring to those of us watching at home. This isn't something that's unique to the England women's team. According to academics, coaches and psychologists, the positive impacts of being part of a football squad and forging friendships with team-mates can boost confidence, resilience and self-esteem in teenage girls, equipping them with tools to handle the turbulence of adolescent life. Research by EE, lead partner of the Home Nations Football Associations, shows that being part of a football network can significantly reduce the negative impact that social media has on teenage girls' self-esteem and confidence – and not just because they can't be on their phone when they're on the pitch. Even the basics – pre-match rituals, singing or chanting, wearing the same kit and travelling together – help to build bonds that create confidence and reduce the feelings of isolation many teen girls can feel, hidden away in their bedrooms. EE has itself just launched EE Squad, an initiative that helps girls build confidence and inner strength through football. 'Being part of a football team creates shared purpose and identity,' says Adam Kelly, professor of sport and exercise at Birmingham City University. 'Girls get a sense of belonging and develop friendships in which they're working towards a common aim. That helps to foster strong bonds, confidence and character.' In a world of impossible beauty standards and a lack of role models, these friendships can be game-changing. Dr Clare Yassin 'There's a big leap between childhood and adolescence in terms of self esteem, which usually drops,' says child clinical psychologist Dr Clare Yassin. 'But if you're in a stable social group that's supported by committed adults, as in team sports, it helps you evaluate your worth differently and silence your inner critic, which is loud during adolescence. Social media is full of messaging about beauty and being thin, whereas in team sports it's more about strength, skill and problem solving, so they're more likely to value a range of qualities in themselves.' The life skills that girls learn together on a team – resolving conflict, coping with setbacks, seeing how others cope with wins and losses, receiving honest feedback from team-mates – can help build emotional resilience and set them up for the future. 'They're less likely to feel ridiculed or rejected when things go wrong, because it's within the safety of a team and a group of people they feel secure within,' says Dr Yassin. 'The mental health trajectory of children who are more resilient is more positive, especially when you look to the future. If they're faced with a challenge, are they going to try to cope alone or reach out to a friend? If you've had positive team experiences at a young age you're much more likely to trust in others and lean on them.' It also helps girls to counter damaging stereotypes around female friendship. 'Those dominant narratives – that teenage girls are catty – are just stories and not truths,' says Dr Yassin. 'Actually, girls can work really well in teams, just like boys, and they need opportunities to collect evidence of that.' Annabel Weber 'Part of football is being with other people,' agrees Annabel Weber, community lead and coach at Bloomsbury Football in London. 'I think that's why football does see so much camaraderie: the sheer number of hours spent together in all weathers and quality social time in a way that you can't often access with the other pressures of life. 'Today's teenagers haven't grown up in a world where they feel that pressure, so giving them something to care about that isn't based on their physical appearance or what other people expect of them [helps to] shut out that constant noise of pressure, standards and expectations.' And while there may be a lack of suitable role models online, it's hard to say the same in football. 'Coaches and senior players can create opportunities for mentorship, and help girls develop leadership qualities themselves,' says Prof Kelly. 'The main thing is to make sure role models are visible. If I'd asked a group of girls a few years ago who their favourite football player was, many of them would have given a male name. Now you get them talking about the women players, and that's because they can see the games on TV, with full crowds and a high level of play. 'It also brings people together from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. That teaches empathy, respect, co-operation and builds social bridges to help girls develop emotional intelligence.' 'The fun is being there every week and seeing your friends – you don't have to be good to play,' Weber adds. 'At grassroots [level] that's the most important thing.' Claire Cohen is the author of

Affordable Anthony Elanga super popular among Dream Team managers ahead of Gameweek 1 — so what's the catch?

THIS summer has not gone to plan for Newcastle. If the rumour mill is to be believed, the Magpies have struggled to convince their top targets to commit to St James' Park at a time when star striker Alexander Isak (£6.5m) is seeking a move away. 4 However, it shouldn't be forgotten that Newcastle acquired the services of Anthony Elanga (£4m) back in July and the 23-year-old is the subject of our latest SCOUT REPORT as the new Dream Team season draws near. The Sweden international is among the most popular players in the game ahead of Gameweek 1. His current ownership of 15.7% puts fifth among midfielders and then names above him are the heaviest of hitters: Cole Palmer (£6m), Florian Wirtz (£6m), Bukayo Saka (£6.5m) and Bruno Fernandes (£6m). Clearly, Dream Team managers are backing Elanga to succeed. He was a key contributor to Nottingham Forest's remarkable 2024/25 campaign and finished as the club's top assist-provider with 12 in all competitions. His tally of six goals was perhaps a tad underwhelming but it was obvious that he was primarily tasked with feeding Chris Wood (£4m), who enjoyed a clinical campaign in front of goal. Nuno Espirito Santo has made no secret of the fact that he sets up his side to keep a clean sheet. It's perfectly reasonable for Dream Team bosses to expect an upturn in attacking returns for Elanga in Eddie Howe's more attacking set-up. In particular, the Magpies often subject their opponents to heavy, sustained pressure on home soil. Another reason to expect more points from Elanga this coming season is the fact he will have additional European commitments to bolster his schedule. Newcastle will have at least eight Champions League fixtures having qualified for the league phase by finishing fifth in the Premier League. 4 No doubt Elanga's price tag is a factor in his popularity too. Of all the midfielders who earned 200+ points in 2024/25, only Alex Iwobi (£3.5m) is cheaper than Newcastle's new winger prior to Gameweek 1 of 2025/26. So what's the catch? Isak's uncertain future is a potential spanner in the works. The 25 year-old forward is said to be pursuing his options and should a move away from St James' Park materialise, Elanga will lose the team-mate he was probably lining up as his chief collaborator. If Isak does depart, Newcastle will surely buy a replacement who may thrive but the truth is there aren't many better strikers in world football than their current No14. 4 Secondly, Elanga is predominantly a right winger and while he is expected to get plenty of minutes, it's worth remembering that Jacob Murphy (£4.5m) produced arguably his best ever campaign from the same position last season. The long-serving 30-year-old notched nine goals and 15 assists in 2024/25; a return that surely demands his fair share of playing time once the new season gets underway. Elanga has played from the left in the past but Harvey Barnes (£4m) and Anthony Gordon (£4.5m) have their own friendly rivalry in that role. Lastly, Newcastle's opening fixtures aren't all that inviting. Howe's troops are due to face Aston Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal within their first six league games. More cautious gaffers may decide to wait and see how Elanga gets on across the first few Gameweeks before making a decision on his viability when Newcastle's fixtures turn more favourable in the autumn.

And after selling Sean Longstaff to Leeds the squad is short of a midfielder. Boss Eddie Howe likes to have six central midfielders to choose from and has identified McGinn as a possible arrival, report the Daily Mail.
