‘It was a great affair': World reacts as millionaire allegedly cheats on wife at Coldplay concert
These were Chris Martin's words after he noticed a canoodling couple scramble to avoid the Coldplay kiss cam during the band's Wednesday night concert at Gillette Stadium near Boston.
The British rocker unwittingly forecasted the future, and is no doubt waking up to the media storm engulfing his show as it's since emerged married Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the tech firm's chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, were the people in the video.
As the camera zoned in on the cuddling pair, Cabot quickly covered her face and turned in the opposite direction, while Byron ducked behind a barricade.
'Oh, what?' Martin responded to the scenes while onstage.
'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' he added.
It's fair to assume it's not the latter, with Byron and Cabot swiftly identified.
Per the official Astronomer website, the pair work together at the AI and data company valued at an estimated $US1.2 billion.
While it's not yet been confirmed, reports identify the CEO's wife as Megan Kerrigan Byron, who deleted her Facebook profile overnight.
Meanwhile, New York Post reports Cabot and her ex-husband, Kenneth Thornby, filed for divorce in 2018 and the split was finalised in 2022.
Coldplay's official X page, which shared a photo from the concert, was inundated with savage commentary, with one user declaring the show was a 'Cheater's Paradise ', while another dubbed it a 'great affair'.
The saga has produced endless fodder across all sections of social media, with July 17, 2025 being coined 'the day Coldplay-ed became a verb.'
Suffice to say, Coldplay is trending worldwide on X in the wake of the ordeal.
Cabot was hired in November last year.
At the time of her appointment, Byron gushed about her two decades of HR experience and 'exceptional leadership' skills.
Meanwhile, Cabot said her conversations with Byron before her hiring had 'energised' her.

Morgan Wallen's cheeky on-stage dig after Coldplay kiss cam scandal: ‘Side chick'
Country star Morgan Wallen has made a cheeky reference to the recent Coldplay kiss cam scandal during his most recent show. The Last Night singer took the stage in Arizona over the weekend, where he referenced the viral footage of married Astronomer CEO Andy Byron being caught in an intimate embrace with his HR chief, Kristin Cabot. 'Anybody in here with their side chick or whatever, I think you're safe here,' Wallen, 32, told the audience, per video shared online. 'I don't condone cheating … anymore.' The 'affair' scandal erupted following Coldplay's concert in Boston last Wednesday, during which a kisscam scanned different couples in the audience, projecting them on the big screen. When the camera focused on the corporate suite, Byron was seen with his arms wrapped tightly around Cabot – but it was what happened next that saw the moment become global news (and spark endless memes). The loved-up pair, noticing the camera, appeared horrified and tried to hide from view, prompting frontman Chris Martin to joke: 'Whoa, look at these two. Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Footage captured by fans in the crowd then surfaced online, with internet sleuths quickly discovering the identities of the pair – and the fact they both appear to be married to other people. Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, reportedly removed his last name from her Facebook page shortly after the scandal went public, and later deleted her account entirely.

Inside Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers' ‘intense' off-camera relationship before shocking abuse claims: report
Denise Richards was allegedly involved in a 'manipulative' and 'intense' off-camera relationship with her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, while filming Denise Richards & Her Wild Things. 'You could cut tension with a knife sometimes,' an insider claimed to the Daily Mail on Sunday, explaining that the exes were 'passive-aggressive' with each other and would go into separate rooms when the cameras stopped rolling. According to the source, allegedly filming the duo the morning after a night of fighting was difficult because they 'wouldn't speak to each other off camera' despite appearing supportive on TV, reports Page Six. The insider claimed Richards, 54, once messed up a scene and Phypers allegedly said, 'Menopause.' The businessman's alleged comments toward the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum made the crew uncomfortable, the source claimed. Per the source, Phypers, 52, appeared 'very threatened' by his estranged wife's success and was allegedly 'trying to prove that he was superior.' 'Aaron walked around as if he was the biggest star on the planet when we were filming,' another source told the outlet. Reps for Richards and Phypers did not immediately respond to Page Six 's request for comment. While Richards and Phypers put on a united front for their audience, their tense relationship was previously shown on a season ten episode of RHOBH. A resurfaced clip showed the TV personality and Phypers holding hands, as she warned him not to 'say a f**king word.' 'Don't tell me what to say. I'm going to crush your f**king hand. Stop it,' he aggressively responded. News broke earlier this month that Phypers filed for divorce from Richards after six years of marriage. At the time, an insider told the outlet that the duo 'have been having trouble for some time' and those close to them saw it coming. Richards has since accused Phypers of abuse and was granted a temporary restraining order against him after alleging he threatened to kill her and himself if she reported him to police, per court documents obtained by Page Six. The Bravo alum also alleged that her ex gave her a black eye in 2022. Phypers, however, denied the allegations, telling People that the allegations were 'completely false and deeply hurtful.' He also accused Richards of infidelity.

‘Jimmy Kimmel is next': Donald Trump gloats over Stephen Colbert's cancellation
President Donald Trump addressed CBS' shocking decision to cancel The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, seemingly suggesting that other late night hosts should get a similar treatment – namely his longtime critic, Jimmy Kimmel. 'I absolutely love that Colbert' got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,' Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, per Variety. 'I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!' Kimmel and Trump have been feuding for years, Decider reports. Not only did Trump blast Kimmel's time hosting the Oscars in 2024, but the late night host has spent almost every single evening on Jimmy Kimmel Live criticising Trump's politics in recent months. Kimmel was even moved to tears after Trump won the presidency in 2024, calling this a 'terrible night' for democracy and claiming he's on Trump's 'list of enemies.' Trump also took a shot at Jimmy Fallon while praising Fox News late night host Greg Gutfield. 'Greg Gutfield is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show,' he wrote. CBS announced it made the 'financial decision' to cancel The Late Show in a press release shared Thursday (July 17). The show is set to end in May 2026. 'We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television,' the statement reads, per The Hollywood Reporter. 'This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.' The decision comes just days after Colbert criticised CBS' parent company for reaching a US$16 million (AU$24.5 million) settlement with President Trump after Trump accused 60 Minutes of editing an interview with Kamala Harris to mislead voters during the presidential election. Paramount is currently in the middle of a merger with Skydance Media that will require approval from Trump's administration. 'I don't know if anything — anything — will repair my trust in this company,' Colbert said on The Late Show earlier this week. 'But, just taking a stab at it, I'd say $16 million would help.' Kimmel wasted no time in speaking out in support of Colbert. 'Love you Stephen. F**k you and all your Sheldons CBS,' he wrote on Instagram.
