Navy staffer held for leaking Op Sindoor details to Pak handler
Jaipur: An Indian Navy staffer posted in naval headquarters in Delhi was arrested in Jaipur for allegedly leaking defence-related sensitive information to a Pakistani handler in exchange for money, a police official said Thursday.
Vishal Yadav, an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) in the Directorate of Dockyard at the Navy building, allegedly also shared details on Operation Sindoor -- strikes carried out by the Indian Armed Forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Inspector General of Police (CID-Security) Vishnu Kant Gupta said Yadav, originally from Rewari in Haryana, leaked the classified information to a female Pakistani handler posing as an Indian woman.
He was arrested on Wednesday in Jaipur and will be subjected to a joint probe by multiple agencies.
"Yadav confessed to receiving approximately Rs 2 lakh in total for the information he passed on," Gupta said.
"This included Rs 50,000 for leaking information related to Operation Sindoor," the IGP said, adding some of the payments were also made in cryptocurrency.
Intelligence sources revealed that Yadav was first approached on Facebook. The Pakistani handler sent a friend request under the fake identity "Priya Sharma".
The two started communicating regularly and eventually shifted to WhatsApp and later to Telegram, a platform known for its encryption-enabled messages.

'No Son Should Be Like Him...': Gangster Romil Vohra's Father Weeps Over His Funeral Pyre
Last Updated: Gangster Romil Vohra's parents, Kapil Vohra and Risha Vohra, who are themselves lodged in jail in connection with ongoing cases, were granted permission to attend the cremation Five days after he was gunned down in a police encounter, the final rites of dreaded gangster Romil Vohra were performed on Friday morning under tight security in Haryana's Yamunanagar district. Vohra, once a close associate of the notorious Kala Rana gang and a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh, was cremated in the Kansapur area. The scene at the crematorium was emotionally charged as Romil's father, Kapil Vohra, conducted the mukhaagni (lighting of the pyre) in the presence of a strong police deployment. His grief was palpable as he tearfully said, 'No son should become a gangster… the condition we are going through should not happen to anyone else." Romil's parents, Kapil Vohra and Risha Vohra, who are themselves lodged in jail in connection with ongoing cases, were granted permission to attend the cremation. Both were seen breaking down repeatedly. 'We have nothing left. We are ruined," said Kapil, his voice choking with emotion. Risha, too, sobbed uncontrollably, adding that she last saw her son on November 22, the day he left home saying he was going to college. Romil Vohra had been on the police radar for months, wanted in several heinous cases including the Khedi Lakhha triple murder, the Shantanu murder case, and a firing incident at Bilaspur's immigration centre. The police finally tracked him down in Gurugram, where he was killed in a police encounter on June 23. Meanwhile, district officials have confirmed that preparations are underway to demolish Romil's house, as part of a larger crackdown on assets linked to organised crime.
