Liam Jacobs sworn in as councillor in City of Joburg Council
The 24-year-old replaces the party's suspended deputy leader, Kenny Kunene, who resigned as a councillor and was recalled as Transport MMC last month.
Kunene's political downfall came after he was found at the home of murder-accused businessman Katiso "KT" Molefe last month.
Molefe is currently behind bars for allegedly orchestrating the murder of Oupa Sefoka, commonly known as DJ Sumbody.

Jacobs recently resigned from the Democratic Alliance (DA) and left his seat in Parliament to join the PA, a move he announced on Facebook Live alongside PA leader Gayton McKenzie.
The party initially deployed Jacobs to the City of Tshwane and named him as its mayoral candidate for next year's local government elections.
However, after Kunene's latest scandal, Jacobs was reassigned to the City of Joburg Council as his replacement.
It remains unclear whether Jacobs will also take up the role of MMC for Transport, a position left vacant after Kunene was recalled by his party.
While Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero made changes to his mayoral committee on Thursday, he made no mention of the transport portfolio.

Video: Manhunt for fugitive after Roodepoort cops killed in CBD
Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of Zimbabwean national Jabulani Moyo after a fatal shooting of two police officers in the Roodepoort CBD this morning. According to Roodepoort Record, provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a manhunt has been launched for the suspect, who is believed to have shot and killed the officers while they were transporting him back to prison from the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court after he appeared in connection with a 2023 business robbery. Roodepoort Record earlier reported that, according to Masondo, one of the officers was based at Roodepoort Police Station and the other at Florida, and that they collected the suspect from a prison in Boksburg. 'The two police officers, a sergeant and a warrant officer, were shot at and disarmed. The sergeant was certified dead on the crime scene, while the warrant officer was taken to hospital, where he was certified dead on arrival. 'Moyo was seen driving the police vehicle that was later found abandoned a few kilometres from the crime scene.' Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist in the investigation or help in the apprehension of the suspect to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Information can also be given anonymously via the MySAPS app, which can be downloaded to any smartphone. 'We do not yet know if anyone else was involved in the shooting, but we can confirm that both officers' firearms are missing,' Masondo said earlier. KwaMakhutha gets mobile police station
KWAMAKHUTHA is one of four areas in KwaZulu-Natal that have been equipped with mobile police stations as part of an ongoing initiative to bolster resources in the fight against crime. Also read: Premier condemns gruesome murder near KwaMakhutha KZN Premier Thami Ntuli, who also serves as the province's MEC for the Department of Community Safety and Liaison, officially handed over new mobile units at a ceremony in Mayville on August 6. KwaMakhutha, Inanda, Bulwer, and KwaMbomambi have been identified as crime hotspots, and the newly deployed mobile satellite police stations are expected to play a strategic role in enhancing police visibility and accessibility in these areas. The KwaMakhutha policing precinct covers a large area and has long been affected by persistent violent crimes, many of which remain unsolved. Each mobile unit, valued at R1.7m, is fully equipped with a holding cell, a toilet, an office, and a kitchenette. Ntuli said the rollout of mobile stations was a direct response to concerns raised by community members who cited the lack of nearby police infrastructure, which often forced them to travel long distances to seek assistance. We are working around the clock to establish functional community safety structures in our province to augment the work of law enforcement agencies,' said Ntuli. Ntuli also appealed to the private sector to support voluntary community crime-fighting structures financially to help intensify the fight against crime.
