Beyoncé picked up two awards, including Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album for 'Cowboy Carter.' Post Malone secured his first win in the country category, winning Favorite Male Country Artist, while Eminem won his first AMAs in 15 years for Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album ('The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)'). Gracie Abrams was awarded New Artist of the Year, while Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars won Favorite Music Video and Collaboration of the Year for 'Die With a Smile.' Gaga separately reigned in Favorite Dance/Electronic Artist, while Mars scored Favorite Male Pop Artist.
Jennifer Lopez returned to host the AMAs for the first time in a decade, opening the evening with a dance medley of 23 of the biggest hits from the past year. Janet Jackson was on hand to accept the Icon Award, giving her first televised performance in seven years.
Taking the stage in a white jacket and baggy jeans, she gave a rendition of her hit 'Someone to Call My Lover' (featuring a brief mashup with Mariah Carey's 'Shake It Off'). After wrapping with 'All For You,' Jackson accepted the Icon Award, stating that fame was never the intended result of making music.
'No disrespect in any way, but I don't consider myself an icon. My family, myself, our dream wasn't ever to be famous. We weren't raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing and singing, and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication,' she said. 'My story, my family's story, it's truly an American story. This would have only happened in America. The one thing that I hope for is that I've been an inspiration to others and artists, to follow their dreams and succeed.'
Rod Stewart was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from five of his children and closed the show with his classic 'Forever Young.' 'I am absolutely flabbergasted, I didn't know they were here, my children,' he said during his acceptance speech. 'When I started singing in the early 60s, well before all of you lot were here, the reason I got into it was because I had this burning ambition to sing. That's all I wanted to do. I didn't want to be rich or famous, and so many years later, I'm here.'
Blake Shelton handled the first performance of the night with his song 'Stay Country or Die Tryin',' while Lainey Wilson kept the country streak going with a rendition of her new single 'Somewhere Over Laredo.' Gwen Stefani gave a medley of her new single 'Swallow My Tears,' accompanied by renditions of 'The Sweet Escape' and 'Hollaback Girl.' Benson Boone brought the backflips for 'Mystical Magical,' while Renee Rapp debuted her new single 'Leave Me Alone.' Gloria Estefan gave a medley of 'Rhythm is Gonna Get You,' 'La Vecina (No Sé Na')' and 'Conga.' Alex Warren sang 'Ordinary,' followed by Becky G teaming up with Manuel Turizo for the first performance of their duet 'Que Haces.'

Rod Stewart Cancels Additional U.S. Tour Dates Due to Illness: ‘I'm Devastated'
Rod Stewart has canceled additional U.S. tour dates as he continues to recover from the flu. On Saturday (June 7), the 80-year-old music icon announced on social media that he is canceling four concerts and rescheduling two others due to ongoing health concerns. 'So sorry my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon.' Three of the canceled shows (June 7-10) were part of his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Another canceled show in Nevada was set for June 14 in Lake Tahoe. Two California dates — Rancho Mirage on June 12 and Paso Robles on June 15 — have been rescheduled for Sept. 20 and 21, respectively. Earlier in the week, Stewart — who received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 American Music Awards in May — had already postponed his June 1 and June 5 shows at Caesars Palace, citing an unspecified illness. Looking ahead, the 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?' singer is scheduled to return to his native U.K. for a high-profile appearance on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival on June 29. He recently revealed that he'll be joined by Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, reuniting their classic 1960s–1970s band Faces. Other 2025 Glastonbury headliners include The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo. Following Glastonbury, Stewart will return to North America in July, performing across the U.S. and Canada before resuming his Las Vegas residency in late September. After that, he's set for a run of South American dates before heading to Europe to finish out the year. See Stewart's announcement below on Instagram. Billie Eilish's Mid-Career Album Becomes A Bestseller Again
Billie Eilish has only released three full-length albums during her career, yet what she has accomplished with that trio of projects is incredible. In just over half a decade, and with only a few dozen tunes, she has not only proved herself to be one of the most successful and creative musicians of her generation, but also one of the most exciting artists of all time. It's not uncommon for Eilish's three albums to chart simultaneously on various Billboard rankings. The trio are almost always found on tallies like the Billboard 200 and rock- and alternative-specific lists. One of those three albums is experiencing something of a comeback this week, as it returns to multiple tallies at once, as Americans continue to buy the set years after it originally became a smash success. After proving herself with her debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Eilish showed she was no one-era wonder with her sophomore full-length, Happier Than Ever. That set is a bestseller again in America as it reenters both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts. This week, it returns to the all-encompassing list of the top-selling albums in the country at No. 49, in second-to-last place. It also makes a comeback on the vinyl-only tally, landing at No. 25, the lowest possible position on that ranking. A healthy sales spike is responsible for Happier Than Ever's resurgence. According to Luminate, from one tracking period to the next, sales of the project increased by nearly 10%, rising from just over 2,000 to more than 2,200. That's quite an accomplishment for a years-old release that Eilish herself has long since stopped promoting. While Happier Than Ever reappears on two tallies, it is largely otherwise declining this frame in the U.S., as it slips on the Billboard 200 and Top Rock & Alternative Albums rankings. It does, however, manage to climb one spot on the Top Alternative Albums list, reversing course and stepping up to No. 18. Both When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and Eilish's most recent project, Hit Me Hard and Soft, can be found on at least three Billboard rankings apiece. While her debut set is primarily declining — but not by much — Hit Me Hard and Soft lifts everywhere, even returning to No. 1 on two of the half-dozen rankings it can currently be found on.
