Sanjana Sanghi reflects on her father's impact on her life and career, his lessons of integrity, and their cherished Sunday walks in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha.
Not all superheroes wear capes—some wear spectacles, carry newspapers under their arm, and have the magical ability to make every problem in the world feel smaller. For Dil Bechara star Sanjana Sanghi, that superhero has always been her dad. This Father's Day (June 15, 2025), Sanjana got candid with News18 Showsha about the man who's quietly shaped her life, her values, and even her scenes.
What's the most valuable lesson your father has ever taught you?
The most valuable lesson my father ever taught me is the importance of integrity and authenticity above all else. He says 'no matter what path you choose never compromise who you are or the values you stand for.' In the film industry, where external pressures and perceptions can often sway you, this lesson has been my constant anchor. It's about being true to myself, to my craft, and to the stories I choose to tell. It reminds me to always lead with honesty and to never chase fleeting validation at the cost of my core beliefs.
How has your relationship with your dad shaped who you are today — as a person and as an artist?
My relationship with my dad has profoundly shaped every part of who I am today, both as a person and as an artist. He's been my constant anchor, instilling in me the values of integrity, resilience, and unwavering hard work. These aren't just words; they're the backbone of my character and my professional approach.
As an artist, his emphasis on authenticity and staying grounded is invaluable in a world that can often feel superficial. He taught me to observe deeply, to empathise, and to never lose touch with my roots, which directly influences how I connect with and portray characters. His quiet belief in my unconventional path has given me the courage to chase my dreams fearlessly, always reminding me to seek depth and truth in everything I do.
Did your dad ever visit you on set or help you rehearse lines?
Oh, yes! My dad has visited me on set a few times, which is always incredibly special. He's not someone who seeks the limelight, so his visits are always about quietly observing and being there for me. It's truly comforting to see his familiar face amidst the controlled chaos of a film set; it's like a little piece of home coming to me.
As for helping me rehearse lines, he's definitely done that especially during my early days! He might not be an actor, but he has an amazing memory and a keen ear. We'd sit for hours, and he'd patiently read out the other characters' dialogues. Those sessions were invaluable, not just for the lines themselves, but for the quiet support and focus he offered. He's always been my silent partner in preparation.
Is there a role you've done that made your father particularly proud or emotional?
While my father is incredibly supportive and proud of all my work, there's definitely one role that made him particularly emotional and, I believe, deeply proud playing Kizie Basu in Dil Bechara. That film, with its sensitive theme and profound message, resonated with him on a very deep level.
I remember after he watched it, he didn't say much at first. Later, he told me how deeply moved he was by the story and how I had brought Kizie to life. Seeing him so affected, knowing he connected with my portrayal and the film's message, was one of the most validating and heartwarming moments of my career. His quiet pride meant the world.
What's your favourite memory of spending time with your father when you were little?
My absolute favourite memory of spending time with my father when I was little has to be our Sunday morning 'thought walks." Growing up, almost every Sunday, my dad and I would go for a long walk in our neighbourhood, rain or shine. It wasn't just about the exercise; it was our special time to talk about everything and anything like my dreams, my fears, what I was learning in school, or just random observations about life.
Those walks were filled with his quiet wisdom and my endless questions. He'd offer perspective, listen without judgment, and somehow always know how to make me feel understood and inspired. In today's busy world, that uninterrupted, simple quality time, just walking and talking, feels incredibly precious and something I'd give anything to relive.

"He taught me to never rely on shortcuts or influence": Virat Kohli's emotional Father's Day tribute to his late father

New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): On the occasion of Father's Day, Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Prem Kohli, reflecting on the values and strength he inherited from him. In a deeply personal message he posted on Sunday, Kohli opened up about a pivotal moment from his childhood that shaped his approach to life and success. Kohli took to his official Instagram handle and posted a beautiful picture along with a message, 'He taught me to never rely on shortcuts or influence -- because if you truly have it in you, hard work will show if you don't have the will to work for it, then maybe you don't deserve it yet. When I was offered an easier path once, he refused it for calm conviction, he said, 'If you're good enough, you'll find your way. And if not, it's better to know that early.' That one moment shaped how I live, work, and show up in the Father's Day to all the fathers whose quiet strength becomes our lifelong compass.' The former Indian captain recounted a moment when he was once offered an easier path in life--something many would have accepted without hesitation but his father declined it on his behalf, making a decision that would go on to define Kohli's attitude toward discipline and self-belief. Virat recently bid adieu to the Test format with a heartfelt note on Instagram, days after his long-time compatriot Rohit Sharma retired from the format. Virat's 14-year journey in the whites transformed India into a result-producing machine. He infused aggression and the culture of fitness into a team riddled with youth and experience. In a career that redefined the demands of the game, Virat scored 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties, and finished as India's fourth-highest run-getter in the format. He recently lifted the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). (ANI)

Tennessee Titans delete viral Father's Day post after fans blast awkward wording

Mandatory Credit: Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports / Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports The Tennessee Titans tried to celebrate Father's Day on Sunday and ended up deleting the whole thing before noon. The post, which was meant to be inclusive and heartfelt, instead confused and irritated fans across the NFL. Fans weren't sure if it was a typo, a joke, or a serious message In what seemed to be an attempt at inclusivity or maybe just a social media team trying to do too much, the franchise accidentally alienated just about everyone. The result? Mass confusion, eye-rolls, and the post getting nuked off their timeline faster than a missed PAT. The message read: — _MLFootball (@_MLFootball) 'Happy Father's Day to all the Titans moms and fatherly figures.' The reactions were immediate. Fans couldn't tell whether the Titans were trying to acknowledge single moms, celebrate 'non-traditional' parental roles, or just completely misunderstood the assignment. Almost immediately, the replies were filled with 'Wait, what??' energy. Social media reactions ranged from confused to straight-up angry. 'Wtf does that even mean?' Some questioned if the team meant to say "parents" instead. Others accused the Titans of trying too hard to be inclusive without thinking it through. One user joked, 'Just say Happy Father's Day, it's not that hard.' It didn't take long before the Titans quietly hit delete on the post, probably hoping people wouldn't notice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Found THIS Chat on Her Husband's Phone and Vanished Overnight medalmerit Learn More Undo But, well, it had already gone viral. Comments poured in blaming the Titans' PR team, calling the message 'unnecessary,' 'confusing,' or 'just weird.' One user wrote: 'You can tell the franchise is ran by a woman.' Another said: 'How hard is it to just say 'Happy Father's Day'? GD.' And others pointed out the inconsistency, asking whether mothers got similar treatment on their day. Although the Titans tried to erase the moment by deleting the post, screenshots and quote tweets are still spreading. It's become yet another lesson in how one awkward social media message can spark a backlash in under five minutes flat. At the end of the day, the Titans likely had good intentions but their delivery made things worse. In trying to be inclusive, they ended up sounding tone-deaf, and NFL fans aren't exactly known for letting that slide. Moral of the story? Just say 'Happy Father's Day.' No remix needed.
