Channel 4 Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson's stunning three-day Irish wedding

Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who played Erin Quinn in the Bafta award-winning series Derry Girls, has married in a three-day celebration in Ireland
Derry Girls actress Saoirse-Monica Jackson and her DJ partner honoured their Celtic roots as they tied the knot in a spectacular three-day Irish celebration.

The 31-year-old, famed for portraying schoolgirl Erin Quinn in the beloved Channel 4 series, donned a cream gown featuring puff sleeves as she exchanged vows with Hector Barbour, professionally known as Denis Sulta, near Kenmare in Co Kerry.

Fellow Derry Girls star Jamie-Lee O'Donnell opted for an elegant floor-length green Rat & Boa number whilst serving as one of the bridesmaids, as Jackson made her way down the aisle, accompanied by her father, to a rendition of the programme's iconic theme tune Dreams by The Cranberries. It comes after Andy Carroll 'splits from Lou Teasdale due to her demands' weeks after public row.

Reflecting on the event to British Vogue, Jackson remarked: "Everybody said that the whole weekend was like something from a movie, and it really was.
"I want to do it again." Jackson's gown underwent a stunning transformation for the evening reception, with the skirt being shortened and the corset reversed to showcase a tartan detail.
The bride's bespoke Annie's Ibiza creation incorporated touching tributes to both her mother's and mother-in-law's bridal gowns in its design, she revealed to the magazine.
Barbour popped the question with a bespoke ring during a seaside getaway in Donegal whilst the couple were clad in Dryrobes and Crocs, the pair disclosed to Vogue.

Jackson revealed that Barbour had penned his entire proposal speech, which she treasured being able to revisit afterwards. The pair initially planned to tie the knot overseas for an alfresco celebration, but chose Ireland as a nod to their shared Celtic roots, they revealed to Vogue.
In pictures captured by StoryofEve, Scottish-born Barbour donned a kilt and feathered hat for the nuptials, alongside his groomsmen. Sharing snaps from the festivities on Instagram, Jackson penned "to infinity and beyond", including a clip of her hubby sweeping her off her feet on the dance floor.

In another post filled with videos from the big day, she expressed her gratitude to their loved ones, writing: "To all our loved ones, you are everything".
One video captures Jackson in her bridal gown, playfully quipping "she's a shy bride, a very shy bride" before cheekily asking "When's the kissing?"
A photo showed Jackson enjoying a pint of Guinness, while a video features the bride sharing a dance with O'Donnell, who portrayed fellow schoolgirl Michelle Mallon in Derry Girls.
The Bafta-winning series, penned by Lisa McGee for Channel 4, chronicles the lives of teenagers growing up in Northern Ireland during the 1990s, prior to the Good Friday Agreement.

Stylish at 40! Inside the life of birthday girl Beatrice Borromeo, the aristocrat once crowned 'most stylish European royal' - and her role in a regal relatives murder conviction

Effortlessly elegant socialite Beatrice Borromeo, who is celebrating her 40th birthday today, was once crowned the 'most stylish European royal' by Tatler. The daughter of Italian aristocrat Don Carlo Ferdinando married into the Monaco royal family in 2015. She tied the knot with Pierre Casiraghi, the youngest child of Princess Caroline and grandson of the late Hollywood actress Grace Kelly, in a lavish wedding hailed as the 'chicest of the summer' by Vogue. For the celebrations, Beatrice showcased a total of four couture gowns: two by Valentino for a civil ceremony in Monaco; and two by Armani Prive for a religious service at Lake Maggiore. The latter took place at Borromeo Castle on Isola Bella, one of the many islands owned by her noble family. For the ceremony, Beatrice wore a bespoke ivory lace gown by Giorgio Armani Prive, featuring a scalloped-boat neck, three-quarter length sleeves and column silhouette. Demonstrating her flair, she changed into a Grecian-inspired diaphanous silk tulle gown, complete with a full A-line skirt and dramatic train. Meanwhile, the dashing groom opted for a black tuxedo with a white bow tie. Beatrice and Pierre have since become parents to two sons, Stefano, eight, and Francesco, seven. Whether channelling Hollywood glamour on the red carpet or delivering a couture masterclass at a grand ball, Beatrice never fails to impress. A former model for Chanel and Valentino, she has been a global ambassador for Dior since 2021 and regularly graces the front row at the brand's fashion week shows. The French fashion house was also a favourite of her late grandmother-in-law, Grace Kelly, who wore dozens of couture gowns over the course of her 50 years in the public eye. Beatrice is routinely dressed by the label for significant events, such as Monaco's National Day. In 2022, she stunned in a scarlet ensemble steeped in history. It incorporated the 'Bar' jacket, which was fundamental to Christian Dior's New Look of 1947. The jacket celebrated the female form and injected a welcome dose of glamour into the fashion scene after the war. Grace Kelly also wore the design. Earlier this month, Catherine, Princess of Wales wore the blush pink version to welcome French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron to the UK. Beatrice joins the royal family for the 2015 Monaco National Day Celebrations in the courtyard of the Prince's Palace of Monaco After studying law, Beatrice attended the esteemed Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and forged a career in both print and broadcast before turning her hand to documentary filmmaking. She recently debuted the three-episode series The King Who Never Was on Netflix. It focuses on Prince Victor Emmanuel of Savoy, the last heir to the Italian throne, holidaying at his summer residence on the island of Cavallo, France, in 1978. Enraged by a group of Italians partying on nearby boats, he produced a rifle. He shot a young German tourist, Dirk Hamer, who was sleeping on the desk of one of the boats. Victor Emmanuel was acquitted of murder charges in November 1991, following a lengthy court battle brought about by Dirk's sister, Birgit Hamer, who was one of Beatrice's mother Paola Marzotto's oldest friends. The Prince was convicted only of a firearms offence and given a suspended jail sentence of six months. '[The story] was a part of my family for as long as I can remember,' Beatrice has explained. In 2011, while working for Italian newspaper il Fatto Quotidiano, she leaked a secretly recorded video of Victor Emmanuel allegedly confessing to the killing. Victor, or Vittorio, Emanuele is part of the House of Savoy, which ruled Italy from 1861 to 1946 - when they were displaced by the Italian Republic. For her next project, Beatrice is making a film about the origins of the family she has married into: the Grimaldis of Monaco, Europe's longest-standing royal family. 'My company Astrea Films is producing the film about the seizure of the fortress of Monaco by the Grimaldi family in the Middle Ages,' she said.

Pierce Brosnan backtracks after calling for next James Bond to be a woman

Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has seemingly backtracked on his calls for the next 007 to be played by a woman. The Irish actor, 72, was famously the fifth actor to play Bond, starring in four films from 1995 to 2002 before Daniel Craig's reign began in 2006's Casino Royale. Since Craig bowed out in 2021's No Time to Die, speculation has been rife over which A-lister will step into the fictional secret agent's shiny shoes, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson currently the front-runner. However, many have suggested a change in sex for the role, calling for women to not only be side characters as the beautiful Bond Girls but to take the helm as the main Secret Service character. Previously, Brosnan threw his support behind the proposed changes, exclaiming to The Hollywood Reporter in 2019: 'Yes! 'I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years. Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there.' He added that it would be 'exhilarating' and 'exciting' to see a woman take over after decades of male Bonds. But now, the Mamma Mia! star looks to have done a U-turn. In a new interview to promote his Thursday Murder Club film, co-starring Dame Helen Mirren, Brosnan told Saga Magazine: 'Oh, I think it has to be a man.' He continued: 'I wish (Amazon) them well. I'm so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character. 'I adore the world of James Bond. It's been very good to me. It's the gift that keeps giving. 'And I'm just a member of the audience now, sitting back, saying, 'Show us what you're going to do'.' His comments come after Amazon MGM Studios took creative control over the 007 franchise, and it was revealed last month that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight would be writing the script for the next film. Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will also direct. Fellow actor Dame Helen is also championing a male Bond, keen to keep with tradition despite her proud 'feminist' status. The Oscar-winning actress, 80, shared: 'I'm such a feminist, but James Bond has to be a guy. You can't have a woman. It just doesn't work. 'James Bond has to be James Bond; otherwise, it becomes something else.' Dame Helen previously told The Standard that 'the whole concept of James Bond is drenched and born out of profound sexism' and added: 'Women have always been a major and incredibly important part of the Secret Service; they always have been.' Meanwhile, Brosnan has remained vocal about Bond's future since it emerged that there was a vacancy, sharing his advice for the next actor to step up to the challenge. 'There's so many great actors out there who could portray this character. I have no idea who, I have no idea. I wish whoever it is great success.' And while he previously expressed interest in returning to the role himself as a 'romantic notion', he later ruled it out. Brosnan later admitted to GQ that he felt it 'was best left to another man, really. Fresh blood'. We currently have no idea when to expect the big announcement that will fully launch Bond's next era. Until then, rumours will have to keep swirling, with names such as Theo James, Henry Cavill, Jack Lowden, James Norton, Josh O'Connor, Regé-Jean Page, and Paul Mescal in the mix with the bookies. Taylor-Johnson, 35, though, has been the frontrunner for a long time, only fuelling speculation when he recently penned a deal with Omega, the luxury watch brand that has featured in Bond films since 1995's Golden Eye. More Trending Then, at the 28 Years Later premiere, he played coy when Deadline quizzed him on his next project. 'I can't talk about it,' he replied before being escorted away. The identity of the next Bond Girl is also uncertain, but hot faves at the moment are Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya, Eve Hewson, Nicola Coughlan, and Michelle Keegan. Got a story?
