Cancer-stricken AFL WAG Kellie Finlayson speaks out after trolls made baseless comparisons to conwoman Belle Gibson

Sky News AU29-04-2025

Kellie Finlayson has opened up about the impact of vicious online trolls who have made baseless claims she is lying about her cancer diagnosis, including comparisons to notorious cancer conwoman Belle Gibson.
The AFL WAG, 29, who is married to Port Adelaide forward Jeremy Finlayson, is battling stage 4 bowel cancer after being diagnosed when she was just 25 years old.
Finlayson's shocking diagnosis came four years after she started experiencing stomach issues, including irregular bowel movements, and at times, blood in her stool.
On Tuesday morning, Finlayson appeared on Nine's Today show to promote her new book, There Must Be More, which documents her ongoing cancer battle.
At one point, co-host Sarah Abo brought up online trolls who have questioned the mother-of-one's cancer diagnosis, including hurtful comparisons to cancer conwoman Belle Gibson.
'What do you say, Kellie, I know you revealed earlier those ugly comparisons to conwoman Belle Gibson, and that's just disgusting and heartless,' Abo said.
'I don't know where this comes from, that people feel that they can say these things to you.'
'Don't get me wrong, 90 per cent of the people who reach out are very positive and tell me that I've inspired them or that they've gotten checked because of me,' Kellie said.
'But those 10 per cent that decide that it's their time to tell me that maybe I might have comparisons to someone that is lying about a diagnosis purely out of the way that I look and I guess the way that I've gone about it, rather than being inspired by that they've decided that it can't be real.'
The update comes months after Finlayson revealed the 'depth of hate' she felt towards Gibson after the release of the Netflix series Apple Cider Vinegar about the notorious case.
Gibson falsely claimed to have beaten brain cancer using alternative therapies and nutrition, which she schilled through her own app called The Whole Pantry.
In reality, Gibson never had cancer and was fined over $410,000 by a Victorian court for false claims and failing to donate proceeds from her app sales to charities as promised.
'I have this depth of hate towards her (Gibson) and I don't hate anyone,' Finlayson said in a video published on her Instagram account in February.
'But the way it irks me and I know she irks so many others... I've been referred to by this woman's name countless times, several times a week even.
'Which is just... it's just a big punch to the face. It's kicking me while I'm down.'

Meghan confirmed for upcoming royal clash

Don't miss out on the headlines from Royals. Followed categories will be added to My News. IN LONDON Meghan has been confirmed as a guest of honour at a glitzy, black-tie event in Los Angeles as her husband's family steps out for one of the biggest days on the royal calendar. There will once again be a Sussex/royal diary clash on Saturday as the duchess attends the Museum of Natural History's Night of Wonder gala on the same day as Trooping the Colour, the King's official birthday celebrations, take place in London. Meghan will be honoured for her charity work and give a speech at the star-studded event, which is focusing on advancing community wellbeing and increasing opportunities for the disadvantaged. It's not yet been made clear whether Prince Harry will also attend. Harry and Meghan at Beyoncé's LA concert last month. It's expected that Prince William, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and their three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 6 – will join the King and Queen and other senior royals for the occasion, which draws a crowd of thousands to The Mall. Picture: Henry Nicholls/AFP The latest schedule clash comes after Harry popped up in China last month to deliver a keynote speech at a sustainable travel forum on the same day as his father and stepmother's high-profile whistlestop tour of Canada kicked off. It's understood the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his family are at an all-time-low, with Harry even giving a no-holds-barred interview with the BBC in early May. In it, he revealed the King no longer takes his calls, that he doesn't know 'how long he has left' amid his cancer battle, and then asked his family for 'reconciliation'. Meghan divided opinion with the release of a video of her and Harry dancing in a birthing suite. Picture: Instagram Meanwhile, news of Meghan's outing this weekend comes just days after she divided followers with the release of a throwback video in honour of her and Harry's daughter's fourth birthday, which featured the pair of them taking part in a viral TikTok dance challenge in the birthing suite on the day she was born. 'Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates … so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!' she captioned the video of the couple dancing to the 'Baby Mama Dance Song'. While it appeared to be designed as a relatable moment, it didn't quite land with a lot of her followers, who branded it 'peak cringe'. This elusive fashion designer is finally stepping into the spotlight

Rachel Gilbert doesn't do the Sydney social scene. You won't find her at long lunches or at the opening of a new bar. In fact, she's barely been a presence at Australian Fashion Week, showing just once in the 20-year history of her eponymous brand. She rarely gives interviews and has a private Instagram account. Yet the Sydney-based designer is one of the country's most successful fashion exports. This year alone, the brand has grown year-on-year sales more than 600 per cent. Celebrity fans include Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Gilbert's friend Julie Bishop, who famously wore a blue sequinned dress by her on budget night in 2019.

Orlando Bloom undergoes 10k treatment to remove toxic chemicals

Orlando Bloom has undergone a £10k treatment to remove toxic chemicals from his blood. The 48-year-old actor shared a photo of himself at Clarify Clinic on Monday (09.06.25) where he underwent the two-hour procedure, which can reduce inflammation by removing microplastics, chemicals and toxins from your blood. He wrote alongside the Instagram snap: "Thanks for the help @clarifyclinics - a new way of removing microplastics and toxic chemicals from our bodies." The cost of a single session of the procedure - which removes the unwanted elements using CE marked Clari by Marker - starts at £9,750. On the Clarify Clinics website, the organisation explains: "Your plasma is gently separated from your red and white blood cells in a process called apheresis. "The plasma is then passed through our safe and effective CE marked Clari column. The damaging substances like microplastics, forever chemicals, and inflammatory proteins are captured and removed. "Unlike Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) nothing is added to your plasma during this process. "This means your plasma retains your unique and critical immune balance, electrolytes, clotting factors and cell signaling. "After the harmful substances are removed, your clean plasma and blood cells are recombined before being returned to you." Orlando's fiancee Katy Perry recently admitted to her fans in Australia that she'd been struggling with jet lag, particularly because their four-year-old daughter Daisy had been waking her up at 5am. However, she joked any visible signs of tiredness weren't there because she'd had the wrinkle-smoothing injections. She told the crowd: "You can't tell I'm tired because I got fresh Botox for Australia!" It isn't the first time Katy has confessed to having Botox treatments. Last month, a satirical headline by the Onion joked Katy would be releasing a song called Stop Making Fun of Me alongside a photo of Katy taken in Melbourne last year. She quipped on Instagram in response: "This photo is clearly photoshopped I would never let my Botox go that long, do better The Onion!"
