Camille Prats, Katrina Halili share how losing a loved one affected their perspective on life
Camille Prats and Katrina Halili opened up about how the experience of losing a loved one changed their approach in everyday life. On Tuesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Kapuso stars placed deeper emphasis on meaningful relationships and living in the present. "Ngayon, parang mas, ako, for me, I would rather have meaningful connections rather than 'yung mga mabababaw lang," Camille said. She also emphasized that this shift extends even to her professional interactions. "Whenever I talked to anyone or nagkakaroon ako ng chance na magkaroon ng malalim na usapan with someone, parang I would want to connect with that person in a deeper way rather than just small talks na balewala lang," she said. Similarly, Katrina underscored the unpredictability of life. "Hindi natin alam kung ano 'yung puwedeng mangyari, kausap mo lang tapos mamaya hindi na, 'di ba? So parang ako, enjoy mo na lang 'yung every—kung sino 'yung gusto mong makasama, 'di ba?" she said. "Enjoy mo 'yung mga moment na—kunwari, 'yung family mo, 'yung anak mo, 'yung trabaho mo, enjoy mo lahat. Kasi hindi natin alam." Both Camille and Katrina experienced losing their partners. Camille's first husband, Anthony Linsangan, died in 2011 due to nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In 2017, Camille got married again to VJ Yambao. Meanwhile, Katrina's boyfriend, Jeremy Guiab, passed away in January 2024. Camille and Katrina currently star with Shayne Sava in "Mommy Dearest," which just got extended. It airs weekdays at 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News

Card claiming Luzon lockdown over Mpox fake, says GMA
GMA Integrated News has labeled as fake an art card that has circulated online that has mimicked its branding. The card claimed that Luzon may be placed under 'total lockdown' because of Mpox. The fabricated image also attributed the claim falsely to the Department of Health (DOH). GMA said it did not produce nor publish such a report and warned the public against sharing unverified content online. DOH: Mpox CASES WENT DOWN IN MAY DOH said the Mpox situation in the country is not alarming and does not warrant lockdowns. In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, DOH spokesperson Dr. Albert Domingo said there were less than 50 Mpox cases recorded in May. This is lower than the over 50 cases logged in April. 'Kapag tumingin kasi sa total, ang impression parang dami-dami nang kaso,' Domingo said. He added that the agency is focusing on month-to-month monitoring rather than cumulative totals, which can create a misleading impression. ONLY MILD Mpox VARIANT IN PH Domingo also clarified that the Mpox cases in the Philippines involve only the Clade II variant, which is known to be milder and less transmissible than Clade 1b — a variant that has not been detected in the country. 'Hindi natin kailangang mabahala dahil ang variant [ng Mpox] dito sa Pilipinas ay Clade II,' Domingo said. DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa likewise assured the public that most patients recover within 2 to 3 weeks, and that deaths linked to Mpox in the Philippines were primarily due to underlying complications from advanced HIV, not the virus itself. NOT AIRBORNE Domingo further explained that Mpox is spread through close, skin-to-skin contact, not through the air. While some local government units have imposed face mask requirements, he said such measures may not directly prevent Mpox transmission. 'Ang Mpox ay hindi airborne... Depende sa mode of transmission ang dapat na ginagawa na precaution,' he said. He urged LGUs to coordinate with the DOH for science-based response measures. The World Health Organization (WHO) describes Mpox as a viral disease that spreads through close contact with an infected person or contaminated materials. Symptoms include fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, with most cases being mild and self-resolving. The global health body continues to monitor Mpox cases worldwide but maintains that proper hygiene, awareness, and early reporting are key to managing outbreaks. PANATA KONTRA FAKE NEWS The incident is the latest in a string of online disinformation attempts using the GMA Integrated News brand falsely. The organization continues to monitor, report, and request the takedown of fake content that misleads the public. GMA Integrated News reminds the public to verify the source of information before sharing, and to trust only official channels for news updates.

VP Sara Duterte calls for community action vs dengue
The dengue virus is transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. File photo Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday called on the nation to adhere to ways to help combat the spread of dengue in the country. In light of Dengue Awareness Month this June, Duterte underscored the importance of supporting the Department of Health's (DOH) campaign against dengue—a mosquito-borne viral infection which is common in countries with tropical climates like the Philippines. 'Nakakamatay po ang sakit na dala ng lamok na may dengue na maaaring namumugad sa ating mga pamamahay at mga komunidad. Lahat tayo ay nanganganib na maging biktima ng sakit na ito,' the vice president said in a video message. (This disease caused by dengue-carrying mosquitoes that can breed in our homes and communities is deadly. We are all at risk of being victims of this disease.) 'Magkaisa po tayo sa adhikain na makontrol ang pagdami o paglaganap ng mga lamok na may dalang dengue,' she added. (Let's unite in the campaign to mitigate the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.) READ: EXPLAINER: Why public should beware of dengue As part of preventive measures against the disease, Duterte encouraged the public to ensure that mosquito breeding grounds such as drums and pots are clean and free of water. She also urged participation in clean-up drives in communities. She also noted that people could prevent getting dengue by putting up window and door screens and mosquito nets, as well as wearing pants and shirts with long sleeves. In April, Health Secretary Ted Herbosa said that the Philippines may face a dengue outbreak this year. The most common symptoms of dengue include high fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pains, nausea, and rashes. Some people may also get pain behind the eyes, vomiting, and swollen glands. These symptoms, the DOH said, start four to 10 days after exposure from a mosquito bite, and can last for two to seven days. —KG, GMA Integrated News
