Dundee United player of the year awards: ALL the winners as outstanding Vicko Sevelj lands top prize
Vicko Sevelj has been named Dundee United player of the season following a sensational debut campaign for the Tangerines.
Sevelj, 24, joined the club from Slovenian side Radomlje last summer and immediately established himself as a mainstay.
His versatility has been invaluable to the Terrors cause, performing with aplomb at centre-back, right wingback and central midfield.
And Sevelj was honoured at the club's annual awards ceremony at the Apex Hotel in Dundee following a public vote.
Tireless wing-back Will Ferry capped a superb season for the Tangerines with the fans' player of the year gong, while 15-goal striker Sam Dalby landed players' player of the year.
Liverpool loan star Luca Stephenson was awarded young player of the season after notching three goals and two assists in 34 appearances – shining in a host of different positions of the course of the campaign.
The departing Louis Moult landed goal of the season for his sumptuous bicycle kick against St Mirren in January. That secured a 1-0 win and, given United only finished three points ahead of the Buddies, was a pivotal moment.
Katie Frew was named Dundee United women's player of the year, with goalkeeper Beth Rennie landing the players' player of the year prize.
Freya Brien's incredible strike from the halfway line against Motherwell was recognised as the United women's goal of the season, while Ashley Robertson was named their young player of the season.

Viktor Gyokeres finds himself in the middle of a transfer tug of war between Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal and Alan Shearer has shared his thoughts on where could end up Alan Shearer believes Viktor Gyokeres could still sign for Manchester United despite his bitter transfer saga. 'On Viktor Gyokeres, I'm not surprised at all if they get him because of his work with Sporting and Ruben Amorim before, I think that was always going to be the case. 'They're not in Europe this year, they're not in the Champions League and they're going to have to pay huge wages to get the players and tempt them away from other clubs that are going to be interested in them.' Gyokeres' future has taken a number of turns over the past week as both United and Arsenal attempt to win the race for his signature. Reports previously claimed that he was willing to go on strike to force a move away from Sporting after they went back on their word to sell him for a modest fee. Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas then broke his silence by claiming that his side would not be bullied into selling their star forward. Gyokeres himself has now spoken, having penned an angry statement on social media. Writing on his Instagram story, Gyokeres wrote: 'There is a lot of talk at the moment, most of it is false. How Dundee United new boy Zac Sapsford fumbled Bukayo Saka jersey when his bottle crashed
Dundee United's first summer signing Zac Sapsford has revealed how he missed out on a signed Bukayo Saka jersey when his bottle crashed – literally. The Australian forward arrives at Tannadice with a hidden skill, and it caught the eye of ex-Chelsea, Manchester United and Spain superstar Juan Mata, a teammate at Western Sydney Wanderers last season. Sapsford, 22, has a talent for bottle flipping and, after showcasing the ability over lunch during an away trip, Mata challenged the youngster to land THIRTY in a row in return for a shirt of his choice. Sapsford opted for Arsenal ace Saka – and came agonisingly close. Instead, he was tasked with weeks on the coffee run. 'I'm pretty good at bottle flipping,' he told the Row Z FC podcast. 'We were at a hotel and had just finished dinner and I was doing some bottle flips. Juan said, 'wow, you are really good at that'. Then he told me that if I got 30 in a row, he'd get me whatever jersey I want. 'I said, 'make it a signed [Bukayo] Saka jersey, and I'll do it'. So, I started, and the whole team was watching. It's getting very pressurised. I had like 28 in a row and flipped it up…then it fell. 'Everyone was all around me – even the coaches – and it was not good. I was that close. 'Instead, my punishment was to get him seven coffees whenever he wanted!' Nevertheless, the tale speaks to the rapport shared by the erstwhile teammates; two men at the opposite end of their career journeys. Mata, 35, boasts a World Cup, two European Championship and a Champions League among an astonishing haul of medals and Sapsford readily admits that the mercurial midfielder is TOO GOOD to learn from. However, his influence was still tangible. 'On the pitch, there's not much to learn from Juan – because he's too good,' he continued. 'You can't really take too much from him because you look at some of the things he does and say, 'I'll never be able to do that'. 'But off the pitch, he is an amazing person and the bits of advice he gave me in different scenarios was invaluable. 'Whether it's reacting to coming off or being annoyed at being benched one week; he'd tell me how he went through those things at top-level clubs. 'Those types of things helped me through the season, and to have someone like that somewhat mentoring you was a cool thing.' Sapsford has penned a three-year deal with the Tangerines and, along with Moldova international Iurie Iuvo, represents the first pieces of Jim Goodwin's summer rebuild at Tannadice. And he told United fans what to expect. Asked what attributes he would bring to the Scottish game, Sapsford said: 'I'd say my link-up play. 'I like to drive with the ball if I get the chance; I'm really good at that. And although I'm not super tall, I like to win most of my aerial duels. Goalscoring and assists, too. I like to set players up and find the killer pass. 'I'll never stop running and I love putting all my energy out there. I'll never come off the pitch feeling like I haven't given everything.' Sapsford, who still harbours a dream of making the Australia World Cup squad next summer, added: 'What I am expecting (in Scotland) is a lot of physicality. 'I'm happy with that. Where Rashford and four more England stars in limbo this summer may end up
Marcus Rashford looks set to leave Manchester United this summer, but the identity of his destination is unclear, with several teams eyeing a move for the England international This summer's transfer window is already set up to be an interesting one, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all looking to spend heavily. But an overlooked aspect is on the players who could be leaving those clubs. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish are all expected to be moved on by their teams this summer. The trio, alongside Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling, are out of favour as it stands. While they are all expected to be on the move this summer, so far there has been little concrete interest. Most of them have also been left out of their team's squads for the Club World Cup. That is the biggest signal that there is no future for them. Their current clubs, United, City and Chelsea will be hoping that interested suitors kickstart their pursuits when the second window opens. That opens on Monday and will run through to summer deadline day on 1 September. Here, Mirror Football looks at the future of the England quintet and where they could end up. Marcus Rashford - Barcelona Top of the list is Marcus Rashford, who has fallen out with United boss Ruben Amorim. There is no future for the Englishman at Old Trafford, with the attacker spending the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa. While Villa have a £40m option to buy clause, they are yet to activate it. It appears unlikely they will do so, while United would accept a similar fee from any interested suitor. But like in January, Rashford's sights are set on La Liga champions Barcelona. He has already held talks with the Spanish side, who are eyeing a new attacker this summer. If he holds out until the final weeks of the window, he may well secure his dream move to Catalonia. Jadon Sancho - Borussia Dortmund Jadon Sancho's career has fallen flat since his big money move to Manchester United. Chelsea even paid a £5m penalty to return him to Old Trafford at the end of his loan spell this season. There are few obvious destinations for the winger. One team who are thought to be interested are Borussia Dortmund, where Sancho burst onto the scene. A third spell back in Germany currently appears to be the most likely. Kyle Walker - Saudi Pro League Kyle Walker time at the top level appears to be over, with the 34-year-old having been left out of Manchester City's squad for the Club World Cup. He spent the second half of the season at AC Milan. But it appears unlikely that the Italian side will be bringing him back permanently. He could well join a Premier League side further down the table. There is also a possibility though that he could end up being left with the Saudi Pro League as his only option. Jack Grealish - Newcastle While Walker is struggling for suitors, Jack Grealish has a number of teams interested in him. Grealish's form has dropped off a cliff since winning the treble and has fallen out of favour with Pep Guardiola. Former club Aston Villa have been linked, as have Everton. But Grealish may well wish to remain at a side in the Champions League, which could lead him to join Eddie Howe at Newcastle. Raheem Sterling - Fenerbahce The final Englishman whose future is unclear is Raheem Sterling, though he is certain to leave Chelsea. Blues boss Enzo Maresca has made it clear he will not be using Sterling at any point. He will not be returning to Arsenal and it is hard to see a Premier League club who would take him. Sterling has already rejected a move to the Saudi Pro League, leaving Turkish side Fenerbahce as the surprise frontrunners. A spell in Turkey appears likely for Sterling.
