How did terrorists reach Pahalgam, 300 km from LoC, Sachin Pilot asks Centre

India Today5 days ago

With the Centre continuously firefighting criticism from opposition parties over the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday fired a fresh salvo at the Narendra Modi government, asking as to how it became possible that the terrorists were able to reach the Baisaran Valley, which lay 300–400 kilometres from the Line of Control (LoC).The former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister sought clarity from the Centre on the fate of the terrorists involved in the April 22 attack, asking if they were tracked down or were killed in the Operation Sindoor precision strikes on May 7.advertisement"Pahalgam is around 300–400 kilometres from the LoC. How did the terrorist manage to reach there? The centre said that the perpetrators had been identified. What happened then? Were they tracked down or killed?" Pilot questioned.
A total of 26 civilians were killed in the Baisaran Valley on April 22 when Pakistan-backed terrorists opened fire on them. In response, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes against terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7.The strikes were followed by drone and missile attacks by Pakistan on Indian military and civilian locations, prompting a befitting reply from India, further spiralling military tensions between the two countries. However, a ceasefire understanding was reached on May 10.ON TRUMP'S CLAIMSA major political storm erupted in India as US President Donald Trump said the "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan was due to the "mediation" by his administration, a claim rejected by India. But, the opposition trained guns on the Centre over Trump's claim, alleging third-party interference in the Kashmir issue.advertisementSachin Pilot renewed the attack, saying, "For the first time, the president of another country announced an agreement between India and Pakistan. He lured India with bilateral trade and the government has so far refrained from rebutting Trump's claims".He said what was also regrettable was that no one from the US, be it their President, Vice President or Secretary of State, used the terms "terror" or "Pakistan-sponsored terror" while speaking about the India-Pakistan tensions or the Pahalgam attack.Sachin Piloted also said that the demand of a special session of Parliament should have been honoured, as earlier put forth by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi."The Modi government should convene a special session of Parliament. In the special session, a unified voice of the nation would have been heard, and the government would have given one consolidated reply," Pilot maintained. The Rajasthan Congress MLA also launched a scathing attack on Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah for his remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who co-led the briefing on Operation Sindoor, and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ram Chander Jangra who said that the wives of Pahalgam attack victims should have fought back against terrorists.Accusing the BJP of shielding such leaders, Pilot said that they should have been sacked and stripped of the party's primary membership.Must Watch

Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, is currently in Latvia as part of a distinguished multi-party parliamentary delegation from India. The delegation is visiting Riga from May 29 to 31, 2025, as part of India's ongoing diplomatic outreach under Operation Sindoor, which emphasizes global solidarity against terrorism. Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal Joins All-Party Parliamentary Delegation Visit to Latvia Following high-level engagements in Russia, Slovenia, and Greece, the Indian delegation is holding a series of high-level meetings with Members of the Latvian Parliament (Saeima), senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and key stakeholders from think tanks, academia, media, and the Indian diaspora. Dr. Mittal stated, 'Terrorism is a shared global threat, and India is committed to working hand-in-hand with the international community to eliminate it. Latvia, as a strong democratic partner, plays a vital role in this dialogue, and I am honoured to contribute to this effort on behalf of India.' Trump said Pak gave ‘nothing but lies'. So why is he rewarding it?

Trump said Pak gave 'nothing but lies'. So why is he rewarding it? Sachin Parasher TNN May 30, 2025, 17:20 IST IST Despite once slamming Pakistan for deceit and terror links, Trump's muddled response to India's Operation Sindoor — from backing Modi to proposing mediation — risks alienating a key US ally and reviving Cold War-era hyphenation that India rejects outright Not even one year into his first term as president, Donald Trump famously said that the US foolishly gave Pakistan more than $33bn in aid over 15 years, and all Pakistan gave in return was nothing but lies and deceit, thinking of 'our leaders as fools'. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, added Trump in a post on what was then called Twitter. Cut to 2025 and probe how Trump, more confident and uncompromising in his second term, fared in dealing with India's Operation Sindoor that, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, set out a new normal — nuclear blackmail won't shield terrorists and Pakistan Army will have hell to pay the next time it uses its terror toolkit against India.

These steps were taken to avenge the gruesome terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, in which 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali citizen were killed. After Operation Sindoor commenced, Pakistan launched a swarm of drone and missile attacks on Indian territory. On May 10, a ceasefire between the two countries was announced after the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Islamic State contacted his Indian counterpart.
