Fans were in awe after Caitlin Clark confidently knocked down a 3 from the same spot as her NCAA-record shot
It was only fitting that Caitlin Clark made her 2025 preseason debut on the court where she rewrote the NCAA record books. And on Sunday, she gave everyone a near-perfect reenactment of her record-breaking moment from college.
In front of a packed house at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, the Indiana Fever dominated the Brazil women's national team, 108-44, with Clark scoring 16 points in just 19 minutes.
As cool as the homecoming must have been for Clark, we could see just how fired up she was late in the third quarter when she opted to pull up from the side logo where she broke the NCAA women's all-time scoring record in 2024.

Clark pointed after the shot as if she planned to shoot from that spot on the floor.
Fans also noticed how similar the shots were. Sunday's three was actually a couple steps further than the No. 22 logo on the court.

Caitlin Clark may still be sidelined due to injury but it hasn't stopped her from razzing her Indiana Fever teammate Lexie Hull as the team tries to power through her absence. The Fever let their fans get to know some of the players on the roster. Hull was one of them as the team put together a picture on its Instagram account. Hull's notes included that she was from Spokane, Washington, she has a dog named Libby and the "weird thing" that she loves. "A1 & Cheddar," the item read. Clark took the opportunity to poke fun at Hull on Instagram. "A1 and cheddar. What does that even mean?" she wrote with a few cry-laughing emojis. "she's likes a1 sauce on cheese? Huhhhhhh." Hull responded later, saying "Cut up cheddar cheese. Dip it in A1 sauce. Thank me later." Clark and Hull have become close friends since the Fever selected Clark with the No. 1 overall pick of the WNBA Draft in 2024. Hull's numbers have improved since Clark joined the team. She was averaging 4.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 2023. When Clark joined in 2024, Hull improved her averages to 5.5 points per game and she earned 6th Player of the Year votes. Hull is off to a hot start in her first seven games of 2025. She's averaging 10.4 points, 4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Her field-goal percentage jumped from 44.1% last year to 54.5% this year. Clark's injury has definitely hampered the Fever's ability to win games. Indiana is 3-4 to start the season. NIL era news: Texas governor implements integral new bill heading into new athletic year As we head into a new athletics year under the NIL era, a new bill has been signed into law in the state of Texas that could benefit Texas A&M and other universities in the state moving forward. As announced on Thursday afternoon, Governor Greg Abbott signed a new NIL law that will allow athletes over 17 in the state to receive NIL contracts directly from a university. This bill also aligns with the House settlement that is yet to be approved. For Texas A&M and other in-state universities, it will allow them to avoid any potential lawsuits or compliance issues and compete for recruits in some ways others may not be able to just yet. The implementation of the bill was first reported by KBTX senior sports writer Travis L. Brown via X: Let's cut straight to the facts: there is no denying the influence of NIL on all collegiate athletics and it continues to grow by the minute. The transfer portal has reached historic numbers since the decision was made to introduce financial gain for players for their name, image and likeness (NIL). That was just the beginning of something way bigger than anyone ever thought could happen in the sport. Some college athletes, like UCLA quarterback Nico Lamaleava, are making millions of dollars before they even reach the National Football League, which has always been the goal of most athletes, historically speaking. Now, what is stopping players from just managing their finances in college and then retiring? Is that going to cause a shortage of athletes in the NFL? Or, will the professional football league continue to blossom? That is still to be determined. For now, the House vs. NCAA antitrust lawsuit remains in full swing, with seemingly no end in sight just yet. The proposed, and now imposed, bill in the state of Texas protects universities in the state in more ways than one, while also providing a slight edge in recruiting as well. The world of NIL and the transfer portal is something that will change rapidly and often. As new bills are signed or rejected, there seems to be some major miscommunications between the House and the NCAA that could be detrimental for all parties if not solved.
