Elena Rybakina's coach cleared by WTA Tour to return from suspension
Stefano Vukov was provisionally suspended in January while the tour conducted an investigation. It announced in February that had been completed and that the ban remained in place, without saying how long it would last.
The organization said Friday that Vukov would again be permitted to receive credentials allowing him access to player areas and practice courts at its events.
'The WTA is fully committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all athletes and other participants, as set out in our WTA Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Code,' the tour said in a statement.
'Any sanctions issued following a breach of these safeguarding rules are carefully considered and are subject to appeal before an independent tribunal. While case details remain confidential, we can confirm that Mr. Vukov is eligible to receive credentials at WTA events.'
The New York Times first reported that Vukov's ban had been lifted.
Rybakina announced before last year's US Open that Vukov would no longer be her coach, but then said before the Australian Open that he would be rejoining her team. She insisted that he had never mistreated her during their time working together.
Rybakina, ranked No. 10 on the WTA Tour, just reached the semifinals of the National Bank Open in Montreal before losing to Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko, the eventual champion.

Harris shines again as Spirit maintain 100 per cent run
For the third match in three Grace Harris has steered London Spirit to victory in the Hundred Women, maintaining the defending champions' 100 per cent start in the English white-ball franchise competition. In the tournament's opening match she scored an unbeaten 42-ball 89, in Spirit's second she bowled the death over, successfully defending six runs with two to spare, and now she has hit an unbeaten 32-ball 50 to guide Spirit to victory at Old Trafford. Chasing Manchester Originals' 7-122 Spirit won by three wickets with two of their 100 balls remaining, thanks to a late flurry of boundaries by the Queenslander. Talk about impact. #TheHundred — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 11, 2025 "I just thought it was a bit of a trickier wicket to start on, and then once you got in, you could try and cash in at the back end," said Harris. "When we got to about needing 26 runs, I thought 'we're pretty good'. We'd got wickets in hand; we could try and take the game on a little bit more. "I'm delighted with how I'm going. I think a lot of the principles that I've been working on within my game are paying off, and I just keep summing up conditions and whenever I'm injected into the game, I'm seeing what impact I can have." Put in to bat Originals were 2-10 off 12 balls, including Kathryn Bryce out to a brilliant leg-side catch by wicketkeeper Georgia Redmayne, standing up to pacer Tara Norris. POV: You take the first wicket of the match 🤲#TheHundred — The Hundred (@thehundred) August 11, 2025 Georgia Redmayne, standing up, catches Kathryn Bryce legside off the glove. Skipper Beth Mooney (26 off 20) counter-attacked creating a platform for West Indies' Deandra Dottin (36 off 30) to lift the home side to a potentially defendable total. Kira Chathli got the reply off to a good start with 34 off 30 after Redmayne perished for 11, but Spirit slid to 5-97, needing 26 runs off 16 balls. Harris brought that down to nine from eight with a pair of sixes but Bryce took two wickets in two only for Sarah Glenn to edge, then drive boundaries to ensure Harris's half-century was not in vain. Harris is now the highest run-scorer in the competition with 157 followed by fellow Australians Meg Lanning (141) and Mooney (97). She also has the highest strike-rate (178.4) followed by another Aussie in Ash Gardner (175), and most sixes (9) followed by Lanning (6).

Brighton & Hove Albion sign Chelsea defender Mpomé
Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Chelsea defender Maelys Mpomé on a permanent deal. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Seagulls this afternoon. The 22-year-old defender joined Chelsea from French Arkema Première Ligue club Montpellier HSC last summer but she found minutes hard to come by with The Blues. Mpomé made eight appearances in total for Chelsea in all competitions, helping the club to secure a domestic treble. On the international stage, Mpomé has represented France at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level. Mpomé will now be hoping to fully-establish herself in the English game with Brighton & Hove Albion. After adding Mpomé to his squad, Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić said 'We're pleased to have Maelys with us. She's had some exposure to the WSL already and we feel she can really develop with us. She's a versatile defender with a lot of good attributes and we're looking forward to working with her.' Journalist Rules Out £84m Liverpool Transfer Deal Despite Reports
Liverpool's Attack: The Future of Isak, Barcola, and Ngumoha Liverpool's transfer activity this summer has been the subject of much speculation, with a focus on strengthening their attacking options. Manager Arne Slot has already shown his ambition by bringing in a number of talented players. However, one area that still seems to be under discussion is how the team will add even more firepower. Reports have linked Liverpool to a move for Newcastle's Alexander Isak, but the club's pursuit of PSG's Bradley Barcola appears to have cooled, who is valued at around £84million. Alexander Isak: Liverpool's Primary Target Alexander Isak has emerged as one of the standout targets for Liverpool's attacking reinforcements. The Swedish striker has impressed in the Premier League and would add a different dimension to the Reds' forward line. According to David Lynch, who spoke with Dave Davis for Anfield Index, Liverpool are 'absolutely interested in the player,' but there seems to be no urgency to bring him in during the current window. Lynch adds, 'In terms of a move in this window then there's nothing in that in terms of a firm move at the moment.' It's clear Liverpool's primary focus is securing Isak's services, which would represent a significant investment. This transfer would be 'a big money addition,' one that would signal a clear intent to improve the attacking depth for the long term. This strategic approach might have put any potential move for other attackers, like Barcola, on hold for now. Bradley Barcola Move Unlikely Although earlier reports suggested Liverpool might be interested in signing PSG's Bradley Barcola, those links seem to have faded. Lynch points out that a move for Barcola 'remains unlikely,' and there is little to suggest the French winger is currently a top priority for the club. This development has raised questions about Liverpool's broader approach to squad depth and youth development. The club has consistently made investments in their attacking options, and it appears that any new arrivals will need to fit within Slot's broader vision. Rio Ngumoha's Development: A Key Factor One of the most important considerations in Liverpool's transfer strategy is the development of their own players. Rio Ngumoha, a promising talent in the squad, is someone the club has high hopes for. Lynch shared that Liverpool believes Ngumoha 'is going to be incredible,' and there is a clear determination to offer him playing time. However, bringing in another attacker like Barcola could hinder Ngumoha's progression. As Lynch explains, 'If you want Rio Ngumoha to become the player that he can be, then he needs to play games.' With Liverpool's abundance of attacking talent, it's crucial for Ngumoha to secure a regular spot on the pitch, and bringing in players who could block that pathway is not in the club's best interests. Photo: IMAGO If Ngumoha's minutes are limited to domestic cup appearances or cameos off the bench, the club risks stalling his development. Lynch adds, 'He will not play games if Barcola comes in.' In contrast, the club seems intent on giving Ngumoha more opportunities this season, with Lynch agreeing with Liverpool's stance on the matter. 'I think we will see Ngumoha more than people expect this season, and that's certainly the word from behind the scenes.' Balancing Short-Term Needs and Long-Term Goals Liverpool's current approach reflects a balancing act between securing immediate reinforcements and nurturing young talent for the future. While the pursuit of Isak might not materialise in the immediate window, Slot's focus on youth development, including Ngumoha, suggests a longer-term vision. It's clear that, despite the competition for places in attack, the club is prioritising the future growth of players like Ngumoha over making short-term signings that could impede that process. In conclusion, while Alexander Isak remains Liverpool's main target for attacking reinforcements, the likelihood of Bradley Barcola joining the ranks seems slim. With the club focusing on providing opportunities for Ngumoha, it's clear that Arne Slot is building a squad that values both experience and the potential of its emerging stars. As the transfer window draws to a close, fans will undoubtedly be watching closely to see how this vision takes shape.
