Billy Brownless set for shock TV return for AFL Legends Game, Victoria vs All Stars
Loveable AFL icon Billy Brownless is set to make a shock return to TV screens when he picks up the microphone for Channel 7 next month.
Brownless will line up in the commentary booth alongside several greats of the game for the Victoria vs All Stars Legends Game on August 28.
FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1.
The 58-year-old Geelong cult hero will join Hawks icon Robert 'Dipper' DiPierdomenico, Brian Taylor, Matthew Richardson, Rebecca Maddern and Andy Maher in calling the iconic contest.
The appearance for Brownless on the rival network comes after his long-running stint with Channel 9's Footy Show ended in 2021.
Since departing the screen, Brownless has made sporadic appearances on the Sunday Footy Show but has mainly kept to radio with his Triple M show The Rush Hour with JB & Billy.
Brownless will be on hand for the match which has been rebranded as the Legends Game for Prostate Cancer and marks 30 years since footy legend E.J. Whitten passed away from the disease.
The contest is set to feature a handful of returning superstars with Gary Ablett Jr, Cyril Rioli, Nick Riewoldt, Luke Hodge and Brendan Fevola all set to pull on the boots.

Brownless' return to the commentary booth comes after he left his family horrified last month by posting a photo of himself skinny dipping on social media.
In the midst of a mid-year getaway with partner Crystle Fleur in Western Australia, the Geelong icon decided to share some happy snaps from the trip.
But it was one image from a swimming pool in Broome that stole the show. The image showed him relaxing in the pool with his obvious lack of swimwear leaving little to the imagination — thankfully he was facing away from the camera.
'Some call it 'Skinny Dipping' I like to call it 'Fat Dipping' #fatstraveldiary,' he wrote.
Safe to say the X-rated post was a bit of a surprise to Brownless' friends and family.
Former AFL star Dale Thomas joked: 'Reverse angle is a Nirvana album cover.'
Bec Judd commented: 'Ahahaha. Nice seeing you yesterday. Glad you had some clothes on.'
Brownless' horrified daughter Ruby commented: 'Wow it gets worse', after responding to his swimming pool post with 'Honestly no words'.
Brownless told the Herald Sun his partner had uploaded the viral skinny dip photo to his Instagram account without his knowledge.

'She thought it was fun. I was just paddling around in the pool, splashing around,' he said.
'She said I've got a shot here for you. Darl, we'll get rid of those shorts and we'll just have a bit of fun with it. And she thought it would be funny to go nude. She knows how to post off my account. 120,000 views, the punters loved it.'
The Cats Hall of Famer said his kids let him know they were less than impressed.
'They're the ones who aren't so happy,'' Brownless said.
'Ruby is the most outspoken, she rang me. She said 'dad, you're a dickhead'.'

Former AFL draftee Sam Ramsay diagnosed with rare cancer after back injury
North Adelaide have rallied around midfielder Sam Ramsay after the former Carlton AFL draftee learned of a devastating cancer diagnosis. The 24-year-old was struck down by back pain in May, putting his SANFL campaign on hold, but it soon became more serious than a standard injury layoff. Ramsay underwent a battery of tests before being diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma — a 'rare and aggressive' bone cancer commonly affecting children and people in their 20s, in particular boys and men. 'Sam is currently undergoing extensive radiation treatment and may require surgery as part of his fight against this illness,' North Adelaide said. 'Despite the challenges, Sam remains a highly valued and respected member of our playing group. 'His commitment to staying connected has been unwavering, including a recent trip to Port Pirie to support the team in our match against his former club South Adelaide.' Teammates donated a portion of their match payments from that match to help support Ramsay, who has been off work while undergoing treatment. North Adelaide said a fundraiser has been planned for next weekend's home game at Prospect Oval. 'Sam, his family and the entire club remain hopeful for a successful treatment outcome,' the club said. 'We look forward to seeing Sam return to full health and fitness soon.' Ramsay was drafted to the AFL at the end of 2019 but his first season with Carlton was ruined by COVID, with the AFL season paused and the VFL cancelled entirely. The Calder Cannons junior then played eight games for the Blues' VFL side in 2021. Delisted by Carlton at the end of that year, he spent two seasons at South Adelaide before joining North Adelaide ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Katie was fat-shamed by her husband on TV, now she's lost 28kg
A MAFS bride who was fat-shamed by her groom on national television has unveiled her dramatic new look after losing 28 kgs. Katie Johnston, who appeared on the 2025 season of the popular reality dating show, was left heartbroken when her 'husband', Tim Gromie, declared on their wedding day that his preference is 'petite blondes' and said he had 'no spark' or attraction to his new 'wife'. Australia rallied behind Johnston, claiming the 37-year-old 'deserved better' than being horrifically 'body-shamed' by her partner. Now Johnston, an award-winning social enterprise CEO from Queensland, has revealed she's overhauled her lifestyle after a terrifying diagnosis sparked a health journey that has seen her lose nearly 30kgs in 12 weeks. 'For the first time in my self-love journey, I've turned my attention to my physical health – not for approval, but for me,' she wrote on Instagram. 'Today, I am officially healthy. Here's to the next chapter – living life at my highest, happiest, healthiest self.' The reality TV contestant, who previously opened up about gaining weight while living with the trauma of being sexually assaulted at age 20, explained that her decision to change her lifestyle came after undergoing a medical test that uses low-energy X-rays to measure bone mineral density (BMD). After undergoing the routine DEXA scan, it revealed she had dangerously high levels of visceral fat — the kind that wraps around your organs and silently shortens your life expectancy. As a result, she underwent a massive health overhaul, and now says her most recent DEXA scan showed 'I'm free from dangerous visceral fat, strong in both muscle and bone, and thriving instead of just surviving'. Alongside medical support, Johnston – who has gone from a size 18 to a 12 – said she was weight training 3 times a week and walking every day, while also eating 'high protein nutrient-dense meals'. Fans have been quick to praise the TV star for her efforts, with some cheekily noting 'I bet Tim will be kicking himself now'. 'I ALWAYS thought you were a beautiful person inside AND out. But holy sh*t Katie, you are glowing,' one wrote. 'Looking amazing! Keep up the good work,' agreed another. As one noted: 'Incredible Katie! You have worked hard both inside and out. That smile is so deserved.' Others flooded the comments sections of her social media pages to simply write, 'wow'. 'You where a beauty anyway, but well done,' one stated. 'Tim punching the air right now,' mused someone else. 'Oh wow!!!!! Stunning then, stunning now!!!' added another. Johnstone has since responded to her fans, who declared they were 'blown away' by her efforts, and revealed she too is chuffed with how far she has come. 'I've made myself so bloody proud. Not for the way I look (which is [flame emoji] haha) but for how hard I've worked to get back to good health, well actually to good holistic health for the first time,' she wrote.

Angela Jones' Mum as proud as punch over history-making feats in claiming Queensland jockeys' premiership
The proud Mum of history-making Brisbane jockey Angela Jones says there was no talking her daughter out of a career in racing, despite the family's initial apprehension. Julie Nedelkovski was the happiest woman at Eagle Farm on Saturday as the feats of her record-breaking daughter were celebrated. Angela Jones went where no female jockey had ever gone before when she claimed the recently finished Brisbane jockeys' premiership, warding off great mate and top apprentice jockey Emily Lang. Unlike many jockeys, Jones comes from a family with no racing background. Growing up in the Queensland bush, Jones decided she wanted to try to pursue a career as a jockey but had to talk her Mum and the rest of her family into it. 'We were worried about the dangers of horse racing, we love her so much and we didn't want her to be in any danger,' Nedelkovski said. 'We didn't know much about the whole industry and we were a bit worried. 'I was very cautious, because of the danger aspect. 'But Angela was very determined and she held her ground. 'She is very easy going but when she wants to do something, there is no stopping her.' Nedelkovski, who now lives in Toowoomba, said her daughter had a 'real connection with horses' right from the time she first sat on horseback. The family – which was initially cautious about Jones becoming a jockey – now gets a huge thrill when they tune into the horse racing coverage to watch her ride. But as proud as Mum is of her daughter's riding, she is even prouder at the way the young jockey conducts herself off the track. Jones is engaged to be married to fellow jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor who often tells the family what a jockey star she is. 'She is so humble – she never plays herself up, she never promotes her ability,' Nedelkovski said. 'It's other people who tell me that, Kyle will tell me how good she is. 'But you never hear that from her.' It was a thrilling end to the Brisbane premiership season with Jones clinging onto a two-win margin over champion apprentice Lang in the city riding premiership. They were also interesting times for champion Queensland trainer Tony Gollan, seeing as both jockeys are key riders for him. 'I certainly didn't favour one of them over the other one in the last couple of months of the season,' Gollan said. 'I just tried to get them on the right horses which suited both of them. 'I am very lucky to have both of these young ladies riding for my stable.' The star young female jockeys took part in an autograph signing session at Eagle Farm on Saturday, engaging the next generation of racing fans at a families' day at the Brisbane racetrack.
