British tourist on holiday in Cyprus branded 'disrespectful' as she moans about the 'awful' local cuisine served at her all-inclusive hotel

Daily Mail30-07-2025
A self-professed 'picky eater' has divided opinion after giving a less than favourable review of the buffet at her all-inclusive hotel.
Simone Wilko, who is from the UK, was holidaying in Cyprus with her mother and boyfriend last week when she decided to share what she had for lunch.
The 19-year-old was left unimpressed by the selection of local food - especially at the 'awful' range of vegetables.
Simone eventually opted for two pitta breads, some meat and a plate of chips - making sure to avoid any fruit or veg, or anything with seasoning.
But after she posted her findings to TikTok, which racked up more than 800,000 views, people were left baffled - even saying she had been 'disrespectful', while others said her eating habits resembled that of a child.
As she filmed the stuffed zucchini with vegetables, Simone said in her video: 'There was so much to choose from, but at the same time there wasn't. I understand that I'm in a different country, but what on earth are these foods?
'They look absolutely awful, I'm not going to lie. I couldn't think of anything worse.'
Filming the traditional black eye beans with Swiss chards, she said: 'What on earth is this.'
Moving onto the pizza counter, she was presented with a 'pizza quattro formaggi' - pizza with four cheeses.
Simone said: 'I was actually getting excited thinking this was Margherita pizza, but it wasn't, it had something under it and it was weird cheese.'
In the end, she opted for two pitta breads as it's 'just plain bread', adding a scoop of chips, pork stirfry and BBQ ribs, which she 'has at home'.
However, she confessed that if they'd had herbs on, it would have been a different story as she 'doesn't like the taste' of seasoning.
With the pork, she only managed two tiny slithers of meat as some of it was covered in onions.
'It didn't really work and it was horrible anyway. It had this weird seasoning on, and I do not like seasoning,' she said.
She was also tempted by the chicken, but noticed it was 'pink' near the bone and decided to swerve it.
Luckily, she was more enthusiastic about the desserts on offer and said they were 'delicious looking', helping herself to some chocolate crunch cake, although she said her coco pops dessert was 'disgusting'.
People were left baffled at Simone's selection from the buffet and thought she should have been more adventurous.
They said: ''Picky' she means she doesn't like anything healthy or green';
''What on earth are these foods' and it's literally just vegetables';
'I thought people ended this phase when they turned like eight';
'Instead of going abroad maybe try Cornwall babes x';
'Fellow lowkey picky eater here but there's a difference between you and me - I don't go round being disrespect about food saying they "look awful" and "taste disgusting".'
'I'm a very picky eater but this seems disrespectful.'
However, others came to her defence, writing: 'I'm not a picky eater but that food doesn't look very appetizing.'
In another video, Simone revealed the contents of a full day of eating while on holiday, opting for a bowl of plain yoghurt and a croissant for breakfast.
To drink, she had a glass of apple juice and a chocolate milkshake, followed by a diet coke.
For lunch, she had a hot dog and chips, which even had a small salad on the side.
For dinner, she picked the meat out of a stew - making sure to avoid the onions and vegetables - again adding some chips, and cucumber this time. For dessert, she chose brownies with custard.
It comes after a woman has divided opinion on social media after demonstrating a savvy tactic to make the most out of the hotel breakfast buffet whilst on holiday.
Nicola Lewis, a 'decluttering and organising expert' from Essex, the UK, regularly shares travel tips and money-saving hacks with her 210K following on Instagram.
In a video uploaded to her page @thisgirlcanorganise in June, she shared her top 'strategy' for tourists holidaying at all-inclusive resorts or half-board accommodation.
Many hotel breakfast buffets offer salads, cold meats and cheeses alongside traditional staples such as pastries, cereals and hot dishes.
Though the specific selection can vary by hotel, it's common to be offered a range of cold meats, such as ham, turkey, tuna or salami, as well as fresh vegetables like rocket, tomato, red onion and cucumber.
According to Nicola, these options can double-up as a handy takeaway option for a lunchtime meal away from the hotel.
In the clip, the content creator arrived at the buffet at an undisclosed hotel and sliced some bread from a seeded loaf, before moving on to the salad bar.
She scooped a generous portion of tinned tuna onto the bread and topped the sandwich off with rocket and sliced cucumber.
Taking her plate to an outdoor seating area, Nicola proceeded to neatly pack her lunch into Tupperware she had brought in her bag, before exiting the buffet to begin her day.
In an accompanying caption, she wrote: 'There is nothing wrong with rustling up your lunch from the hotel brekkie buffet - it's what I call budget chic and organised realness! It saves a small fortune - more pennies for cocktails!'
She advised hotel guests to arrive at the buffet armed with a collapsible container and a washable sandwich bag to store in their room fridges.
Nicola added: 'You're posh, practical, and planet friendly. Just a little old skool tip from me to you... now strut into that day fully fed and fabulous! And it's not stingy, it's STRATEGY!'
The cost-conscious Brit assured her followers that after checking with hotel management, she was 'allowed' to leave the premises with her packed lunch.
The clip, which has since amassed over 45,000 likes and almost 2000 comments, has left viewers divided - with many accusing the holidaymaker of being 'cheap' and 'greedy.'
One person wrote: 'You have paid for breakfast. Not lunch. Hotel within rights to charge you for additional breakfast.'
Another outraged holidaymaker: 'Yup, another entitled traveller stealing.. so wrong.. you should be ashamed.'

Michael Barrymore reveals epilepsy journey diagnosed after a series of mini strokes

Michael Barrymore reached out to fans for support in a heartbreaking TikTok video in which the comedian and TV presenter told of his mini strokes and "uncontrollable seizures" Veteran TV presenter Michael Barrymore has been diagnosed with epilepsy at 73 - after experiencing a mini stroke. ‌ The host, known for his work on game shows and light entertainment programmes, told fans on TikTok about his "uncontrollable seizures" which have happened as a result of his epilepsy. Epilepsy, a tendency to have repeated seizures which start in the brain, is often diagnosed in younger years but Michael said he has developed it in his 70s. ‌ And the star, who headlined the Royal Variety Performance in 1993, thanked fans for their support. In his emotional TikTok, Michael said: "A mini stroke caused me to develop epilepsy where I have uncontrollable seizures... I suffer from cluster seizures, which affects a quarter of people with epilepsy. It means I have more than one, usually three individual seizures in a short period of time." ‌ Carer dodges jail after performing sex act on disabled man at tourist attraction Now Michael, who grew up in Bermondsey, southeast London, must take emergency medication if he goes into a seizure. He continued: "It's scary because there's a 40% chance of going into epilepticus which causes brain damage and death without prompt medical attention. "I've had several attacks this year and have emergency medication at home if I go into a seizure. It doesn't really affect my life otherwise, but it would be nice to talk with other sufferers on here about it." The entertainer, an unlikely icon for Gen Z with his TikToks and vlogs, shared a series of photographs of himself in hospital. His video has been watched widely across TikTok and may users have left Michael messages of support. Michael's stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006 - during which he came runner-up to model Chantelle Houghton - was his first major TV gig since his dismissal from ITV in 2003. This came following the death of Stuart Lubbock in 2001 following a party at Michael's home in Essex. But since the controversy, Michael has become extremely popular with Gen Z, particularly through his use of TikTok. He used it last year to poke fun at himself and he reflect on his past while celebrating his birthday. Yet the host, who also presented Kids Say the Funniest Things, has said in recent interviews the 2001 tragedy still affects him. In fact, last year, Michael left the UK for Spain to "change his life for the better". This is despite Michael never being charged in connection with 31-year-old Mr Lubbock's death, and there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on Michael's part.

But now, fans have slammed the reality star on social media, after a TikToker claimed he had a baby on the way while on the show. A creator named Story Time With Rikkii said in the video: 'Patrick had a baby on the way and didn't tell no body about it.' She then shared a photo of Patrick and the baby mum together while covering the woman's face. The TikTok went on: 'She was pregnant with his child when he went on Love Is Blind UK.' The woman who was pregnant with Patrick's child has allegedly spoken out about it too, according to the TikToker, writing: 'When he first tried to blackmail me, then goes on a dating show and then leaves you alone to go to Bali for 2 months spending his money there and then still calls you negative and a bad mom for losing it.' The video went on to claim that Patrick's baby mum wrote: 'Isn't it crazy how one parent gets to carry on with their life, jobs, hobbies, and social life, and the other parent has to ask for a break to take a shower.' Story Time With Rikkii continued to share a photo of the baby, as well as the woman pregnant and said: 'The math is mathing, and that means that he was in them pods with the baby on the way.' Annoyed fans have claimed that he "wasted Aanu's time" as a result. The Sun has contacted Netflix for comment. Love Is Blind UK star leaves viewers 'feeling physically sick' as he details his VERY unique job The star has also been slammed by fans after blaming the edit for his portrayal on the Netflix show. Patrick has taken to his own TikTok to speak about his split from Aanu in the pods. On the show, as he ends things, he says to Aanu that if he was in the room with her he would put his arm around her. But on his TikTok, Patrick has denied ever saying this to Aanu, claiming that he actually said it to someone else. 4 Patrick is accused of having a baby on the way when he filmed the show Credit: Instagram He wrote: 'They cut away from my face to edit in this dumb comment. 'I never said 'if I was there I'd definitely put my arm around you.' 'They took this from another date with a different person and why would I put my arm around someone I did not propose to. 'It even sounds so weird and out of place.' Fans have been left outraged, as one person wrote: 'This is such red flag behaviour. You can't just blame the edit.' A second penned: 'I smell bulls***,' and a third added: 'This is reality TV Patrick, surely you knew what you were getting yourself into.' Speaking in the pods to potential match Yolanda, Patrick said that he follows his spleen "literally to the second", later adding: "Listening to my spleen is the best way to find the love of his life.' While it didn't win over Yolanda or another hopeful, Catherine, the idea intrigued singer Aanu, who sparked a connection with him. But viewers were left baffled by his continued discussion of his spleen in conversation – with some left turned off by the chat, despite finding Patrick charming, saying it made them feel ill. "I loveee Patrick, do you know how nice you have to be for me to ignore the fact you keep mentioning your spleen??" wrote one on X (formerly Twitter). "Please the word 'spleen' is just making me cringe and feel physically sick. How many times are we going to have to hear this nonsense" said a second. "This bloke and his damn SPLEEN, his spleen should have told him to stay home," said a third. While a fourth noted: "The moment that guy talked about following his spleen, I would have been out of there." Despite the spleen talk, Patrick and Aanu did hit it off on the show - at least to begin with. However, the pair hit a wall when Aanu admitted that she puts a lot of weight into what her mum thinks, crediting her for helping her make decisions. The comment was received badly by Patrick, who said that his "spleen was silent" and that their connected had "dipped", with her telling Aanu that she needs to learn to follow her own instincts. From that point on, they struggle to get back on track – and when Aanu decides to open up to him by writing a song for him, he ends things before she can perform it. "I don't want you to give a song to someone who is undeserving of that song," he told her. "I've enjoyed thoroughly talking to you and going through this experience with you, but I have to follow my spleen."
