World is surprised seeing development in India, says PM Modi in Bikaner
He also inaugurated 102 redeveloped railway stations across 86 districts in 18 states and Union Territories under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of approximately Rs 1,100 crore.
These include a mix of major and minor stations spread across Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
Addressing the public rally, PM Modi said, "Today, I came in front of you all after seeking the blessings of Karni Mata. Due to the blessings of Karni Mata, our resolution of Viksit Bharat is strengthening. Just a few minutes back, the inauguration and foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 26,000 crore were laid. I congratulate the people of Rajasthan for this."
"To make a Viksit Bharat, today, an extensive campaign is ongoing to develop a modernised infrastructure in the country. To modernise the roads, highways, trains and railway stations, work has been done with an unprecedented pace in the last 11 years. Today, the amount spent by the nation on these infrastructural developments is six times what was used before," he said.
"Today, even the world is surprised seeing the developmental works being carried out by India," PM Modi said, giving examples of Chenab Bridge, Arunachal Pradesh's Sela Tunnel, Mumbai's Atal Setu and Pamban Bridge in South India.
The Prime Minister also said that today, India is "modernising" its train network by introducing trains like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and Namo Bharat trains, which shows the "new pace and progress of the country's technology."
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister also offered prayers at the sacred Karni Mata Temple, followed by a visit to the newly redeveloped Deshnoke railway station.
This station is one of the 103 stations revamped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
PM Modi also flagged off the new Bikaner-Mumbai Express train.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, railway stations across the country are being upgraded to offer enhanced passenger facilities, accessibility for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), and culturally rich designs.
A total of 103 stations, modernised for Rs 1,100 crore, were inaugurated by the Prime Minister. These include eight stations in Rajasthan -- Fatehpur Shekhawati, Deshnok, Bundi, Mandalgarh, Gogamedi, Rajgarh, Govindgarh, and Mandawar-Mahua Road.
The Deshnoke station, in particular, has been designed to reflect local architectural traditions, including temple-style arches and decorative pillars.
As part of this vision, the Prime Minister laid the foundation for the 58 km Churu-Sadulpur rail line and dedicated the electrification of key railway sections, including Suratgarh-Phalodi (336 km), Phulera-Degana (109 km), Udaipur–Himmatnagar (210 km), Phalodi–Jaisalmer (157 km), and Samdari–Barmer (129 km).
In terms of road infrastructure, the Prime Minister launched projects aimed at both enhancing civilian connectivity and strengthening national security.
This includes laying the foundation for three vehicular underpasses on NH-58 in Pushkar, as well as the widening of NH-11 and NH-70.
Additionally, he dedicated seven major national highway projects worth Rs 4,850 crore, which are expected to improve military mobility and boost the regional economy.
The Prime Minister's visit also emphasised India's commitment to clean energy. He laid the foundation stone for several solar power initiatives, including a 300 MW ground-mounted solar project by NEEPCO in Bikaner and a 100 MW project by SJVN in Nawa.
Solar projects in Didwana and Kuchaman were also initiated. Transmission systems under Powergrid's Sirohi and Mewar divisions were launched to enhance grid connectivity.
Furthermore, he inaugurated three key power infrastructure projects -- Power Grid Neemuch Transmission System, a power evacuation project in Bikaner, and capacity expansion of the Fatehgarh-II Power Station.
Among other projects, the 500 MW Kalasar and 300 MW Shimbhu Ka Bhurj solar power plants will play a pivotal role in strengthening India's renewable energy framework, supported by indigenous solar PV modules under the "Make in India" mission.
Strengthening regional connectivity further, the Prime Minister launched the upgradation and maintenance of 12 state highways covering 757 km under the Rajasthan State Highway Development Programme, with a total investment of Rs 3,240 crore.
Prominent routes include Mangaliyawas-Padukalan (State Highway-102), Beawar-Tehla-Alniyawas (SH-59 and SH-104), and Dantiwada-Pipar-Merta City (SH-21).
Plans are in place for the future upgradation of another 900 km of roadways, including the Gotan-Sathin Highway, linking industrial and border areas more efficiently.
To bolster the state's healthcare infrastructure, the Prime Minister also inaugurated four new nursing colleges in Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, and Dholpur.
These institutions will help strengthen the healthcare workforce and improve access to quality medical education across Rajasthan.
In addition, two electrical substations -- 132 kV GSS Rajpura in Bikaner and 132 kV GSS Sarda in Udaipur -- will be inaugurated to improve power distribution in the region.
These upgrades are a vital part of ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply across the state.

Vision document is like poll manifesto, another way to mislead public: SP
Lucknow: Leader of Opposition in UP Legislative Council Lal Bihari Yadav on Wednesday said the vision document presented by the BJP govt is another effort to mislead people. "It is another effort to mislead people. It is like an election manifesto, a sankalp patra. How the govt that has not fulfilled promises made in its election manifesto can have a vision or an objective," he said during the discussion on 'Viksit Bharat, Viksit Uttar Pradesh '. The promise that they made in their first 'sankalp patra' of bringing back the black money deposited in foreign banks and giving Rs 15 lakh to every person in the country has not been fulfilled, he said. "Govt has not spoken even a word on this in parliament. It is 11 years for the BJP govt in the Centre and 8 in UP," he said. Yadav said instead of creating 2 crore jobs, as promised in their second sankalp patra, they are cutting down on jobs. "Outsourcing done by them has decreased the per capita income," he alleged. The SP MLC said the govt talked about doubling the income of farmers, but where are the farmers finding urea in the market? The income of farmers can be increased by reducing the input cost for agriculture, but that is not happening, he said. He further criticised the govt for not giving free electricity to farmers as was promised or implementing the MSP for paddy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas Prices In Dubai Might Be More Affordable Than You Think Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Quote Undo "The govt had also promised that within 90 days of coming to power, it will start the process to fill all vacant posts in a transparent manner, which has not been done it till now," said Yadav. The govt is neither giving reservation to backwards nor to SCs. In the matter concerning the recruitment of 69,000 teachers, around 5,893 posts meant for the backward class and 3,000 SC seats were filled with general category people. This was mentioned in the report of the National Backward Commission. This is an expose in only one job, said the opposition leader. He said education sector was in a bad state in UP as NCERT books were unavailable to students. Later, SP members walked out after Yadav said he was not given enough time to speak in the House. 1 2 Lucknow: During the discussion on 'Viksit Bharat, Viksit Uttar Pradesh' in the UP Legislative Council on Wednesday, minister of state for excise (independent charge) Nitin Agarwal said that the pace of GSDP growth, and rise in the per capita income of the people, are indicators of the development of the state. Uttar Pradesh saw its GSDP grow by 2.5 times from 2016-17, when it was 13 lakh 30 thousand crore, to over 29 lakh 78 thousand crore in 2024-25. It is estimated to be around 35 lakh crore by the end of this financial year, said the minister. Similarly, the per capita income for UP in 2016-17 was Rs 54,564 and now it has almost doubled to more than Rs 1.8 lakh in 2024-25, he said, adding that it shows the resources were used well in the state to improve the basic infrastructural facilities. Every citizen should associate with Vision Document 2047, says Khanna
1 2 Lucknow: Asserting that the state government was committed to contribute its bit in making the country developed by 2047, UP parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna said on Wednesday that every citizen of the state needs to be associated with government projection of `Viksit Bharat' and `Viksit Uttar Pradesh'. On the third day of the UP Assembly's Monsoon Session, a historic 24-hour debate on 'Vision 2047' began Wednesday, with senior ministers outlining plans for economic growth, social justice, environmental protection, and infrastructure. They reaffirmed the Yogi government's goal of making UP the country's most developed state by 2047, with targets like zero poverty, world-class infrastructure, and advanced technology. Spelling out the essence of the Vision document for 2047 in the state assembly, Khanna said that a robust foundation has been laid by the Yogi Adityanath government in the last eight years for making UP a developed state by 2047. He said that a new standard has been put forth in every field including security, infrastructure development, woman empowerment, agriculture, education and social security. He added that the vision document aims to achieve multiple goals. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Seniors are going crazy for these comfy, stylish, easy-on shoes Ultra-Comfortable Shoes Undo This included making the state biggest economy in the country, taking the per capita income (PCI) above national average, achieve the target of `zero poverty', improving the condition of farmers, making the state most sought after destination for investment, quality and employment oriented education, providing world class medical facilities, raising women participation in workforce by up to 60%, providing world class infrastructure, using space technology, making UP an IT and logistic hub, making gram panchayat self-reliant, environment management and better security on the international border (especially with Nepal). The minister said that the state government aims to make UP a self-reliant state by 2047 with minimal dependence on the Centre. For this, he said, new resources will have to be identified beside raising the efficiency of levying taxes from the current sources. He emphasised on the use of Artificial Intelligence in putting a check on tax pilferage. The minister said that the state government spending on development needs to be raised from 60% of the total expenditure to a minimum of 70%. Khanna said that the state government was also considering placing its own satellite in space as part of an effort to use space technology. He said that Assam has already done so. Khanna said that people from all walks of lives are getting well acquainted about the direction in which the state is progressing. The minister said that UP, despite being bestowed with rich resources, could not progress as per expectation after 1947. "The lack of political will and a hazy policy implementation nudged the state into economic backwardness. Employment and industrial investment went down consistently," he said. He said that until 2017 (when BJP formed the government in UP), the GSDP of the state was around 12.71 lakh crore, per capita income was much less than the national income and the state stood at 14th position in ease of doing business. "Scheme were formed but never got implemented on the ground because of political hurdles," he said. Khanna said that the UP witnessed a decisive turn when PM Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014 and CM Yogi Adityanath came to power in 2017. "The change in government at the Centre and the state changed the work culture and gave the state new ideas for progress," he said, adding that "public participation in various schemes changed the scenario within eight years. Khanna said that the GSDP has already crossed the mark of Rs 29 lakh crore and in 2025-26 the state government aims to raise it to around Rs 35 lakh crore. The minister said that the state has already attracted investments worth Rs 40 lakh crores and the PCI has gone up by more than 50%. "The state is on the way to become the second biggest economy in the country," he said, adding that the state government has achieved the position of giving a "long term vision" and therefore every member of the assembly should participate in discussion and become part of the progressive journey. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said that before 2017, UP's infrastructure and law-and-order were in disarray, with serious crimes enjoying political protection. Today, the state boasts the most expressways in the country, four-lane road links to all 75 districts, and improved power supply across all regions compared to just five districts earlier. Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh said that before 2017, UP was seen as a BIMARU state, but today it has won the 'Rashtriya Jal Puraskar'. He noted that irrigation now covers 1.04 crore hectares via 76,527 km of canals, the Ken-Betwa link project has begun for Bundelkhand, and flood protection spans 523 embankments. With 8 major and 58 minor rivers stretching 15,225 km, plans include dam modernization, flood forecasting, pollution-free rivers, and large-scale canal-side tree plantations. Urban development and energy minister AK Sharma said UP is swiftly working to realize the PM's vision of a developed India. Citing the poor pre-2017 power situation, he noted that many villages lacked poles and wires and billing was marred by scams, whereas the state now meets a peak demand of 32,000 MW, up from 13,000 MW in 2012–17. "In seven decades, only 8.5 lakh farmers received tube wells, while the Yogi government has provided 15 lakh in the past eight years. Electrification has reached 1.5 lakh hamlets, thermal power generation stands at 9,120 MW, and in the last three years 29 lakh poles have been replaced with 38,000 transformers repaired monthly. Smart meters have cut power complaints, and solar energy promotion has been intensified," he asserted. The minister said UP's power system will be made the best in the world, while urban development has advanced with Lucknow among India's top three cleanest cities and six UP cities in the top 20. By 2047, the state aims to achieve the Ram Rajya ideal in power and urban development. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
