The game figures to be a close one with the two teams so evenly matched. So much so that oddsmakers in Las Vegas and elsewhere haven't really moved the betting line at all in the two weeks since both won their conference championship games.

"Oh, yeah, I had my first, you know, I don't think I've had, like, my full experience of kind of seeing that, but I've had a little experience with Brian Burns chasing me," he said. "He had a read option play and just, you know, his ability to come to come back and chase me down was kind of crazy." Dart, the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft out of Ole Miss, is heading into Giants camp the No. 3 quarterback behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston but could end up under center in a game at some point this season. "I think that when you come into a situation like this, first of all, I'm in a super special position to be able to learn from guys like Russ (Wilson), Jameis (Winston), and Tommy (DeVito), guys who have competed at the highest level," Dart said. "Russ winning the Super Bowl, and, you know, to kind of pick their brains each and every day has been awesome for me, especially for how young I am. But I think that my focus right now is to try to develop each and every day and do whatever I can to make the team better, and I just want to win. I can't stand losing, and I'm gonna do whatever it takes, to not let that happen. So whatever my role is, I'm gonna play the best way that I can."

NFL analyst doesn't believe New York Giants will go from worst to first Almost every season, it seems, an NFL team that finished last the year before wins their division. That team isn't expected to be the New York Giants, who finished 3-14 last season, per the experts at ESPN. The Giants are being given just a 3.3 percent chance of going "worst-to-first" and a 10.1 percent chance of qualifying for the NFC Playoffs. It's a little surprising that FPI doesn't have the Giants lower, as they are currently 27th in the NFL after being 31st before the 2024 season. But their QB room -- with Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart -- should be an improvement over the options they had last season. I also expect them to have a better defense, which had a very poor turnover rate last season and adds edge rusher Abdul Carter to an exciting pass rush. The problem for New York is the schedule, rated as the toughest in the NFL based on both FPI and projected DVOA. That starts with the games in the Giants' own division, which now has a strong Commanders team, along with games against the NFC North and AFC West. Plus, the Giants play the 49ers and Patriots, who are both mentioned above as teams that should be better in 2025. Valid points on all sides, but the truth of the matter is the Giants have had little success against division rivals Philadelphia and Dallas over the past decade. Big Blue has come up small against the Cowboys, losing 15 of the last 16 meetings. Against the Eagles, they've only managed to win three times in 17 tries since 2017, including playoffs. With Philadelphia the reigning Super Bowl champions and Washington making it to the NFC Championship Game last year, the Giants will have a long climb out of the NFC East cellar.

Josh Pearson delivers a storybook performance in Game 1 of super regional When Josh Pearson's name was called, he was ready. The veteran outfielder was tabbed to bat leadoff in Game 1 of the Baton Rouge Super Regional vs. West Virginia. The move was one of several lineup adjustments made by head coach Jay Johnson as the Tigers prepared to face lefty Griffin Kirn. The shuffle included moving Derek Curiel, the typical leadoff man, to the No. 7 hole. Johnson was rewarded for the move with Pearson and Curiel having big days, combining for nine of LSU's 16 RBI. Pearson had two of LSU's biggest hits. He started the rally in the fifth with a leadoff single. The next inning, he hit a grand slam. Seeing Pearson's name atop the lineup caught some by surprise. Pearson saw just four AB's in LSU's regional and had just two hits since May 4. That's usually not the resume of a leadoff hitter in a Super Regional with a trip to Omaha on the line. But Johnson had no doubts. "He's a good player. He's a good hitter. Character, makeup, toughness, raised right, best parents in the world," Johnson said. It can be tough for rotational players to find a rhythm being in and out of the lineup -- but not for Pearson. "He's always ready when we call his name," Johnson said, "He had a good series at South Carolina. He started two of those games. He's the best. He's just the best." Pearson said Johnson texted him on Friday night to tell him he would be in the lineup, but Pearson didn't learn he was batting leadoff until he showed up at the ballpark. "Really, nothing changes. Every day, I kind of show up to the field as if I would be in the lineup at some part of the lineup," Pearson said. Pearson has been around for a long time. He's one of the few holdovers from LSU's 2023 national title team and has been with Johnson since the start at LSU. "Will be odd not having him here. I mean, because that's my only guy. I mean, the four years together, like, that's it," Johnson said. Curiel, a standout true freshman, took a liking to Pearson early. "I'm super proud of Josh," Curiel said, "Josh has been a leader on this team since day one, since I've gotten here. He kind of taught me the ropes, you know, and I look up to him a lot. Two years ago, last year, watching him on TV, I wanted to be his teammate. I wanted to be his friend and he's been like a brother to me." If that was Pearson's final game at Alex Box Stadium, it was a heck of a way to go out. But with the way Pearson swung the bat on Saturday, don't be surprised if he gets a chance to do more damage on Sunday. "It's been awesome. These have been the most fun four years of my life. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm going to miss the box. I'm going to miss playing in the box. We've still got one game tomorrow, so we're going to make the most of it for sure.
