UMNO Divisional Meetings Begin, Zahid Urges Unity and Renewal

KUALA LUMPUR: Delegates from UMNO Divisions, Wanita, Youth, and Puteri have begun to gather for the UMNO Divisional Delegates' Meetings starting today until July 27.
UMNO President and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in a Facebook post, urged party members to make this conference a platform to strengthen political communication, renew promises, and reinforce determination.
'Let this conference be a platform for us to strengthen the three political approaches I outlined previously: Politics of Solution, Politics of Legacy, and Politics of Moderation. This is the foundation of our struggle that needs to be translated into every action, decision, and effort at all party levels,' he said.
The Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament also wished UMNO members a successful conference, reminding them that the party must continue to amplify the voice of the people, empathize with the anxieties and aspirations of the youth, and stand strong as a party that is rearing to move forward, even as times change.
'Our strength lies not only in our historical heritage but in the unity of our hearts and the clarity of direction we uphold together.
'I believe that as long as there is sincerity in togetherness, and as long as this struggle is carried out with a pure spirit, UMNO will continue to flourish as a vessel of hope for the people and a pillar of stability and national progress,' he said.
Previously, the UMNO Branch Conferences were held from April 7 to May 25, 2025, while the UMNO General Assembly is scheduled to take place from Aug 20 to 23, 2025.

Rodziah stands firm in Ampang amid Tengku Zafrul candidacy talk

Rodziah Ismail's affirmation of her commitment to Ampang comes after reports suggested PKR might consider fielding Tengku Zafrul Aziz in a Selangor parliamentary seat in the next general election. PETALING JAYA : Ampang MP Rodziah Ismail has reaffirmed her commitment to the constituency amid speculation that investment, trade and industry minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz may contest the seat in the next general election. The PKR lawmaker said in a statement that she remained focused on serving the people of Ampang, a seat she has held since the 15th general election (GE15) in 2022. 'It's been almost three years since the people of Ampang entrusted me to represent them in Parliament. 'The bitter experience of 2022 taught us one thing – the people's trust must never be betrayed. 'I remain committed to developing Ampang together with the community, restoring its charm and ensuring your voice remains my priority,' she said. Last week, Tengku Zafrul announced that he had quit Umno and expressed his intention to join PKR, further fuelling speculation about his political future. Reports yesterday suggested PKR might consider fielding him in a Selangor parliamentary seat in the next general election. Quoting grassroots leaders, China Press reported PKR is more likely to field him to contest a parliamentary seat in Selangor since the general election is expected to be held in about a year's time. Among the seats mentioned was Ampang, which is currently held by Rodziah. In February, FMT also quoted sources as saying Tengku Zafrul was likely to contest an urban Selangor seat in the next general election, with Ampang among the top choices. Among the other constituencies apparently being considered are Petaling Jaya and Pandan, both currently held by PKR MPs. Rodziah, a seasoned politician and former Selangor executive councillor, won the Ampang seat in GE15 with a majority of over 20,000 votes.

Women entrepreneurs should receive greater business financing support

KUALA LUMPUR: Women entrepreneurs in Malaysia should be provided with greater business financing, to support their expansion efforts, and facilitate entry into international markets. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that this initiative is particularly crucial for women entrepreneurs, who face challenges in accessing financial capital. 'We should also align the Global Women's Empowerment Fund scheme with an export financing initiative, tailored to support high-potential women entrepreneurs. This fund should prioritise export certification, participation in international expos, global branding, and logistics. 'The proposal to increase loan capital is justified. For instance, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), where nearly 100 per cent of borrowers are women, has maintained an impressively low non-performing loan (NPL) rate, of just 0.1 per cent,' he said. He said this when officiating the Women in Export Forum 2025, jointly organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) and the Malaysian Women and Family Affairs Organisation (Hawa), at Matrade today. Also present were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz; Matrade chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican; and Hawa chairman Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, proposed the establishment of a Women Export Incubator - a one-stop centre designed to provide a comprehensive support ecosystem for women entrepreneurs aiming to enter the international market. He emphasised that the incubator should offer export mentoring services, international certification training, co-working spaces, and digital business clinics, with a particular focus on supporting women from rural areas and the B40 group. 'I also propose the 'Anugerah Wira Ekonomi Wanita', to recognise female figures who have made a significant impact in trade, technology, the halal industry, and regional exports. This initiative will not only inspire enthusiasm, but also serve as a platform for economic diplomacy, enhancing Malaysia's global branding. 'At the same time, we must champion the Green Trade for Women, an initiative designed to train and support women in producing environmentally friendly products, which align with ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles,' he said. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the chairman of the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council, emphasised the importance of leveraging the TVET platform to strengthen women's skills across various fields, including technology and entrepreneurship.

MACC: 10 NACS sub-strategies implemented since May

KUALA LUMPUR: Ten out of 60 sub-strategies under the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024–2028 have been successfully implemented as of June 3. In a statement today, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the achievement reflects the commitment and effectiveness of the relevant agencies in carrying out their respective mandates. The anti-graft agency said it also demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening governance and combating corruption comprehensively, as well as boosting public confidence both domestically and internationally. "To ensure the continuity and effectiveness of each NACS sub-strategy, the MACC chief commissioner called on all lead agency heads to strengthen internal coordination through their respective Integrity Units. "He also emphasised the need for close collaboration between divisions within ministries and departments to ensure a holistic approach in implementing this strategy," the statement read. Among the sub-strategies completed are the drafting of laws to enhance border security, the reintroduction of the Parliamentary Services Act, and the strengthening of governance and internal audit functions in the public service. Other completed initiatives include the adoption of the Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Reinforcement Module by secretaries-general and department heads in ministries, departments, and agencies. This achievement was shared by seven lead agencies, including the MACC, and was announced by its chief commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki, who chaired the NACS 2024–2028 performance coordination meeting held today at the MACC headquarters. Progress on the NACS implementation can now be tracked via NACS website, which displays the status of each sub-strategy to promote greater transparency and accountability. NACS, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 7, 2024, sets out 60 sub-strategies aimed at systematic anti-corruption efforts, strengthening governance, and establishing structured mechanisms for monitoring and reporting. The initiative seeks to improve institutional performance and integrity within the public service and bolster public trust in the national administrative system. The achievements under NACS have also contributed to improving Malaysia's ranking in the Corruption Perceptions Index.
